I’m glad to see you got on some birds. First time in 9 years I was able to kill a limit of birds, between the brown top millet and sunflowers my birds wanted the millet over the flowers. First thing in the morning the clouds of birds looked like something I had seen on tv to say the least I was amazed. I have to give credit where it is due all of the information you put out over the years was a huge help and I thank you for keeping this channel going. After what I have learned from your videos and through trial and error next year will be bigger and better for me without a doubt.
My retay masi Mara 20 cycles everything I put in it. I did originally run hotter loads because I had watched your video last year but I decided to try some standers loads and it cycles perfect. One thing I did before I ever shot it was clean it really well and I put ATF fluid on the slides and moving parts with a Qtip and it seemed to really help. I use ATF in my franchi duck gun for when it gets really cold at the coast and it keeps it slick.
Good shoot brother!! All our fields preformed well this year 9 man limit in my field .. 16 man limit in cousins field in 45 minutes!! Then this morning a 12 man limit. Absolutely incredible opening week
Good shoot. I guess you shot in the morning rain? I'm trying to decide if I want to shoot in the morning, with rain up until 10:00, or wait and do an afternoon shoot. Looks like you had plenty of birds. Sorry about the issues with the shotgun cycling. I'm looking forward to the video on that issue. Personally, I feel it is more of a light load issue than a shotgun issue. Semi-auto's need the gas(if gas operated) or the power(blow back operated) to cycle that bolt. My Baretta Pintail is a blow back system, but in 12ga. I have frustrations with it because you can't just cycle a shell out of the chamber like a normal shotgun.
Great video! It’s been fun to follow along and see it all come to fruition! My field didn’t turn out too great this year as far as what I planted, but the hunting wasn’t bad regardless.
Probably already done it but, Take the forearm off and degrease that spring and the tube the spring is on. The factory grease is sticky. I had to do it a couple times. After that my worked perfectly.
I have not done that nor has anyone recommended it! THANK YOU! Will give it a try. Shot AA's this week with no issue, maybe between the two I will be good to go.
Great job on your field. My fields didn’t produce 😡. Deer ate my sunflowers, twice. Millet did good, but it’s basically a weed. My corn still had some ears left on the stalks, so I had corn on the ground. Just didn’t have any birds. I’ve hunted everyday this week for 3 birds. As far as your Retay, I’m a gas operated guy. I do too much dove hunting to worry about cycling issues. I use my Beretta for every type of hunting. Truly appreciate the lighter recoil when duck hunting. Lexington County SC
Ive got one! It just adds weight and is one more thing to charge and fool with. I will try to add that into my next hunts. I have used it on Snow Geese, turned out pretty good!
But seriously. Glad to see all the hard work paid off. The Masai mara having issues with light loads? Makes me nervous since I just bought one in 20ga also. Interested in knowing what you end up figuring out there. Good to see the birds moving through. I've seen three in two days up here on the farm since season opened. Thanks for posting up
I had similar issues with my sx4 12g. One shot, shell eject but not far enough to put 2nd in. Switched to Weatherby 20g and did better. Still had one or two issues with it. Wonder if shell manufacturing after covid an issue?
Im still on the fence.. been doing well with the AAs, we shall see. It patterns great with 3" hevi hammer and is deadly on wood ducks but I do need it reliable for doves
So I am doing a video on it now! I reached out to their head gunsmith, he said my Monarch shells are garbage. I switched to AA's this week on another hunt with no issue. Still more finicky that I would prefer, but might have work around
She's not quite ready yet! Shes 6 months and we are working on Force Fetch and E collar right now. She is in her "terrible twos" and dropping birds/bumpers bad and regressing at the moment. Working on it!

@@Yellowlab247_Outdoorsi think its time to switch over to a gas operated gun if you want no more issues 🤷🏽♂️ i had inertia as well but was a complete no brainer after i seen my buddies shoot what i couldn’t due to clicks and stove piping even after a good thorough cleaning.
@@Yellowlab247_OutdoorsI’ve ran around 2000 monarch shells through my 1187 with 0 issues so far other than the shells are just dirty. But as long as you clean your gun after each hunt like you should be doing already then it’s not a big deal. Sounds like excuses on their end to me
First lol
You get a Pin! Thanks for your support, means the world!
Glad to see the hardworking pay off.
Thanks Snoop!
I haven’t heard of many good dove hunts this year but it looks like you had a great one!!!!

Warms my heart to hear! Makes me so happy, that's my "why". I really love seeing and hearing these stories

Tennessee here, our hunt was terrible, 6 months of drought and then the weather blew in and ruined what little was left. Glad you got some birds
Hate to hear that! hope you can get out again with more success

I also have a retay Masia Mari that's been tough to break in.
They don't like the light loads. The 7/8 or 1 ounce load they just don't like them
The AAs 1,300s seem to do well . We shall see

You deserved a good hunt and I’m glad you got it. You definitely put in the work. Top notch!!
Thanks for your kind words and support!
Looks like y’all bought a couple boxes of shells with no lead in them. I’ve bought those before! 🤠
That’s what it was ! Inflation…

Yes, this here is absolutely correct.

I’ve had my Franchi Affinity 3 for 5 years and the whole time i’ve had it hasn’t messed up as many times as that retay did in one hunt
It does not like light loads that is for sure! My 12 year old 12ga A5 is like yours, cycles every time, doesnt matter the load
Nice day
Nice hunt. Ours was slow but still better than last year. Hope you can add a gun mounted camera to your arsenal sometime.

People underestimate how much hawks and falcons impact your dove fields.
I really think it has made difference, all the birds were passing through and very few were landing

Yeah I would throw that Retay away. That gun did you wrong on this dove hunt! Enjoyed the hunt! Had a good hunt in NC myself on Labor Day.

I had a hawk chasing doves opening day. Did not help our cause.
Man your gun did NOT like those light loads.

You will have a fog next year right???
Are you using a 12 or 20 gauge?
20ga Masi Mara! RETAY
👍
Where is your dog???
She's not quite ready yet! Shes 6 months and we are working on Force Fetch and E collar right now. She is in her "terrible twos" and dropping birds/bumpers bad and regressing at the moment. Working on it!
Wheres the dog at. Got to earn his keep
She's still a little young for a hot barrel. Her training is going pretty well, she loves the gun fire and birds in the yard, will get her out soon!
This might be the worst ad I've ever seen for a gun manufacturer. Retay needs to send you a new one

Rio shoot really good in my sx4 20ga

@@charlesholden325you also have a gas operated gun which really never gives any issues even with the lightest target loads ..
