The Chance - The Constant Battle: Nike Soccer

- For eight months, 100 young footballers lived and breathed their chance.
It was a test of commitment and perseverance; of pain and sacrifice.
Physically and mentality, it pushed players to new levels, driven by the ultimate aim: to earn a place in the Nike Academy.
Starting July 2011, the Final 8 will experience the game at the professional standard they've spent years working to achieve.
They will have to prepare. They will have to perform. They will have to excel.
They can never stop.
Checking in. 9 years later. 2 of the final 8 are still playing. Moon and rogic. The others are nowhere to be found
Moon also played at russia worldcup!
Titi is playing in MLS, he was at dc United a year or two ago
Damn it’s crazy how these videos pushed me back in the day when I was In high school. Made me love football so much more
Was just thinking the same thing, brings back those memories on those summer nights!
@@ryanbailey24 bruh was literally thinking this😂
I thought I was the only one!
This gives me goosebumps to this day. Used to follow these guys religiously and worked harder cause of these.
to exist at the top level you need to be good everywhere but be special somehwere... that gets me fired up
Man I used to watch these Nike Academy videos all the time with my friends as a teen.. used to dream about playing with these guys
same haha
"You're here because you're good." -Arsene Wenger
Favorite quote to calm me down for a game against a "better" team
Crazy how Moon went on the play in the World Cup 2018.
Hey , i am a 17 yr old living in Holland. I am originally from Brazil where i have played in 2 professional clubs (such as Flamengo) until i moved to holland at the age of 11 in 2008. It was very difficult to adapt here as initially the kids where taller and stronger than me. Also , the weather , cold dark days would make me very demotivated to play. I did not know how to speak a single word in Dutch , making the kids group against me. This carried on for 3 years , where i played for decent clubs, but nothing high level close to professional. As i started developing my dutch and adaptong to dutch football (believe it or not it was very hard) i started getting better chances at clubs that played a level closer to professional (there are 16 divisions here until professional with various pools).
Despite all those obsticles i never for a day reconsidered to stop. I moved cities 4 times within 6 years due to my fathers work. On my 4th year in Holland i was the capitain of a 4th division of club (out of the 16) . My dutch was good , not fluent but my passion in field made it up for it. unfortunatelly i could only enjoy 3 months of it as i again had to move cities because of my fathers job. But again that did not stop me from trying , i went to the highest level club after the cities professional club (ado den haag) and walked in to a training and asked for a tryout, after the training the coached sai he wanted me , it was a second divison club , and in the pool there are various professional clubs pf whom we play against . Now i have played in many professional stadiums (im 17 now) and have had many shots at pro dutch clubs. I am unfortunatelly still playing amateur, however i believe i can make pro! If you managed to read all of it , i just want to tell you that obsticles will come, but if you survive through them , you will make it!
I have a video with my recent highlights on my channel called "Lucas Bueno Highlights" in case you are curious or interested.
Lucas Bueno je moet je in hun site in schrijven
How are you doing now bro
Heb je het gehaald?
Glad to have had Tom Rogic play for my home town club that i support in the A-League the Central Coast Mariners and from there he moved to a club in Scotland called Celtic....Great Program for guys who need that second chance
yeah up the aussies
He's a Celtic Hero now.
Futbol is not just a sport it's life to all of us futballers we risk everything
David Pineda I agree
giving young people the chance to live their dream is what sponsorship should be all about and hats off to nike
Titi "David" Accam is playing for the Chicago Fire! 9:13
never stop working hard ever. i started playing football at 14 and was told by my cousins, whom i only played with, that i was terrible. i worked hard to develope technique and style and managed to reach the us development academy level by 17, and now at 18 i have started collegiate soccer. i let off a bit during high school because my parents never wanted me to play but now ive realized it is still an achievable dream and i plan on meeting you at that stage as well. best of luck
ikenna45 how's it going now?
I second this, did you make it or did you choose a different path?
"There are many players better than me but why am I a professional footballer? Because I have the desire to become one."- Didier Drogba when he first started for Marseille. Look where he is now. Power striker and the face of African Football showing that u need to have the attitude
After 3 years, I must say that coaches in The Nike Academy have taken good decisions choosing that guys to winners. I regret only one thing, that trainers could choose only eight instead twelve or sixteen players. Cheers to all fans of football in the world !!! :)
incredible, just incredible. their dedication and honest will to get to the top is just inspiring.
hope to see some of those faces on the pitches of pro-clubs in the future - wish them all the best!
This is amazing, all of these young footballers with such amazing talent together. It's just fantastic and I hope all of them fulfill their dreams. I think that Tobi was probably my favourite player and hes such a powerful striker its amazing. I wish that I was one of those fine young men with such a bright future it is hard to describe in words.
nike have done a really good job here, "the chance" is extremely inspirational in achieving my own dreams becoming a professional footballer. I will never give up.
Titi accam is going to the world cup this year with ghana!
this is not soccer
this is TRUE FOOTBALL
nike the chance: one of the most inspiring videos
it took my 2 years to get to where i am now. recently i tried out for the hong kong national team, and i got accepted. but a knee injury hit me bad, and i was out for the rest of the season and the coach told me to quit. so i did. but now i play for my school, and i carry the pride of being the 'playmaker' in every game i play, i give it 110%. when i lose i hold my head up high, when i win i hold my head up higher. the stage im in, i know its not even the beginning.
Tom Rogic plays for Celtic in the spfl now
It's sad knowing that however hard players train here in the states, we're criticized and looked down by other countries. Yeah we call it soccer, but we play it just the same as someone would in Europe. Watching this video just makes me feel good that I'm a soccer player or however you want to call it and have the passion for the game. It gives me hope that one day the U.S. will be prove everyone wrong and show the world that we really do have quality talent here.
like the video said, "seize your chance". Try to get a job, mowing lawns, wraking leaves, babysitting, any kind of job like that, save money, and travel to soccer camps to compare yourself to other top class players. I live in Japan and the Japanese scouts here only look at home grown Japanese players so I have no chance of getting noticed by them. I also train hard every day, but my senior year of college im going to this 10 month academy programd called grande sports academy.
i really don't understand why anyone would dislike such an amazing and inspirational video like this
To anyone an everyone who has an urge to go pro, take that urge and run with it before its to late. I love this sport and i waited too long to have such a desire and such motivation to make it in this sport. I ran out of opportunity and now im left with huge regret. Never give up what you love.
thx
If you can dream it,you can achieve it.
Becoming a pro soccer player won't be easy, but you can make it.
practice everyday,I mean everyday! no days off !you gotta want it bad, not just kind of want it,you gotta commit your very self to this.you gotta breathe it,eat it & sleep it. get a competitive edge from everyone else, be the first one to walk in to practice & last one to get out, stand out .follow your dreams & Never ever let anyone tell you, you are not good enough. Good Luck boy
words of wisdom right there... even when reading it inspires me.
I live in Canada, year ago and back I used to train every single day, kick the ball for 3 hours a day. I kept telling myself that I am getting better and all this is paying off. But because in Canada nobody cares about football I felt like all this is useless. Today I'll go back to training hopefully someday someone will notice me.
May god BLESS U ! but im 15 nearly 16 in november do i still have a chance i seem to be getting lazy and i seem to love playing football but not watching but im willing to do whatever it takes. Honest to god. I will SUCCEED.
This is my dream! When I am older of course!
titi accam is now a professional footballer in sweden, fist division. Played a champions league game last week, he seized his chance and got it.
this why we love footballl we eat breath it we sleep we live for football
I watch this before every time I go play or practice for my club.
This is so Inspiring & Motivating.
I want to make it Big.
did you?
@@merrimen9623 nah 😂 US soccer sucks 😂
@@fadrian98 it does bro, i never made it neither. Life had other plans for us.
I honestly will try my best thanks for the help, people like you are always great for motivation !
I would like to see an actual full match from these guys to see how hard I gotta train to get past them and see how competitive they are,
I fucking love this video, quite inspiring. I like the fact that they selected two Nigerian bloods for the final 8- that is Titi and Tobi.
I watch this video before every soccer game or practice or anything it motivates me like tonight I have try outs :) motivated
checking in 9years later, how were those try outs bro?
@PatGPC the NCAA said that if anyone decided to participate in The Chance, then they would be ineldgible to participate in colegiate sports, so Nike decided not to even come to the USA because most players would have decided not to risk their chances of going to college... The NCAA shafted everyone...
Rogic retired in October.. moon is in the same league as lingard now
@alexanderkaan I completely agree. It's gonna take years for America to catch up with the world when it comes to football. But we're slowly progressing there. Here in my state of Arizona, football (soccer) is everywhere, every year the sport is getting larger and larger.
Thanks man! Luckly for you, there's still time baby!
You could still accomplish that goal, #Anything Is possible! ,
But listen to me. you got to let go of the past! Forget about it. okay you been lazy, move on!& now focus on your present & your goal.you gotta sacrifice. I'm talking big sacrifices if you want to make it big! sometimes that means giving up sleep!,to make it it's gonna be hard, painful & but pain is temporary! & at the end of pain is SUCCESS, work hard & you could have it.God Bless
@deLasChivas exactly just cuz theyre all about hitting eachother and wat not . that doesnt mean anyhing . theres nothing better than quality in touch and a goood strike at the ball and that feeling when u score in an important game .
congrats to all the south Africans
me too I love that if i wouldnt think that or anything before a game then i wouldnt play as good but i hope they do something like this when i get older to have a chance because i thing eighth grade is a little young haha
I leave in Bosnia & Herzegovina , I'm 17 years old and my dream is to get this chance , but that's impossible here . No one can see my talent neither the bigger clubs here . We don't have people who can scout us . I'm helpless...
this video inspired me to step up my game i play at a local Junior Team Called K.F Beselidhja and im a centre midelfielder im from Kosovo And one day im gonna be in Nike Academy
2020 anyone?
Awesome compilation. Congrats to all the winners and everybody who participated!
Arsene Wenger is there.... we all know why. LOL
반갑다 문선민ㅎㅎ 난 시즌 2 참가자 인데ㅎㅎ 국가대표까지 된거 진짜 대단한 거다ㅎㅎ 여전히 응원한다!!
@deLasChivas I completely agree, the minute you say you enjoy soccer more than American Football you get laughed at or sneered at, they evern mock soccer on ESPN!!
Football is my life and i like your video
nice video for footballers like me if you want to get better at football u have to take risks and play football everyday and dont say i cant do this or that just do what ever u want to do tnx
8:40 this player moon seon man, played in 2018 Russia world cup as korean team
i also happen to live in canada m8
the sad thing is if you didn't get into a competitive football league early enough, it gets harder as you age.......
currently experiencing that now
I have tryouts this got me pumped up!
tom rogic is a ture success,,amateur to nike then profressinal and perfroming internationally,,,,respect
Just keep training and always believe in yourself...
And you're only 12, you have much time...
Nike makes billions every year it’s upsetting they discontinued this if they bring it back they can get a lot of views and popularity
Futball is everything risk everything
it depends....do you have great speed great control great shooting or all of them.get h the mercurials if ur fast get the ctr360 if u have good control or get the t90 if ur a good shooter
The ouches are VERY GOOD!
They did have made GREAT desicion!
Good to see an aussie boy, people underestimate them ..
Clint Dempsey has such a cool voice!
practice practice practice. put the effort into the game on and off the field.
@RoozeOA ....no lie, it almost brought me to tears when i got that message over facebook from Nike that they had excluded US players from the Chance Trials. =(
That's the thing. Why you quit? why'd you give up?. If you believe it could happen, then it WILL happen! , It's all about the "P's" man Preparation.Perfecting Small. Positioning. & PERSEVERANCE! Listen to me...tell yourself one day is going to be your day. & If you keep pushing! ,if you keep believing!, If you keep on keeping! then one day is going to be your day, but if you give up... no day will ever be your day! So I hope you back to training with that same hunger! & have Faith on "One Day"!
I so agree with ArgenisGavez. Sorry I don't know how to reply directly under your comment. Why we need to compare ourselves with other countries. How long have we been involved with soccer. I lived in Mobile, AL, and American football is a #1 sports here. Soccer is now started to emerge and gotten progressive over the past few years. Yet, they'll take down our soccer fields and build a dog park. That's disgusting!!!
What is the name of the main song played?!!
It just makes me wanna play!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE ANSWER
Tomas Rogic is now playing in the A-League. Congrats, mate!
nice inspirational speech
WOW great film!
@ArgenisGalvez i'm from the netherlands, and i can honestly say that although football is originated from europe it is not a europian sport its worldwide where the best survive. if americans want a shot go to south america bring good tactic to their frivolity and become seen by the european to clubs. if america wants to rule football it should invest in football make it bigger than NFL and MLB get talent from south america and i mean all the talent! its a good step for those youngsters
2:21 what the hell
lmao I noticed
The Notorious Gamer Xaxaxa it's his foot man! 😂
Music?
In
i know how you feel bro im from ja and i also have talent to offer but there just isn't anyone out here coming to give us a chance
Which is why Edin Dzeko plays for Manchester City?
Don't make excuses, if you're good enough you'll be seen.
All you can do is make sure that you ARE good enough.
Then you'll get your chance.
they came to l.a but i missed the tryouts :(
Just don't give up and believe in ur self and practice hard and trust me u will go professional :)
@juanoaxxx yeah but except pele and neymar (which he is still 19 he can make history in europe)the others all made history in europe but the talents are over the world and dont forget the europen players as well
Which country is this video taken? I really wish they come to my country!
Nice rythm like Goal # ⚽
Where are these players now? They're playing for pro clubs? I really would like to know.
Moon the Korean played in the WC Russia 2018 and Tomas Rogic is pro but forgot which club. He's the Australian. Only those 2 are known to have gone pro.
buddy its about luck i am a indian our best player here baichung was extra ordinary player but never got chance to play in big clubs!
I wonder how much do you have to pay moneywise to make it to a camp like this?
you have to get scouted
you inspired me to thankyou
very good video love it
I hope I get the chance one day.. Alongside everyone else with greater ambitions!
@ZidaneinZion They're 18-21. It's incredible, isn't it?
I want this chance .....
Along with a Contract ....
