i thank the Di-Vine 4 this gift of art, it´s amazing, anathema have accompanied me since "serenades" & after all these years and so many meaningful songs, they come up with this masterpiece and it´s just perfectly reflecting my own situation...i am amazed...thanx 2 u 4 sharing, thanx 2 anathema 4 finding their way and thanx 2 the Di-Vine 4 making it all possible :-) love=peace=bliss=flowing

@hask2112 I'm glad you liked it! And believe me, Anathema is the best musical discovering that will ever happen to you :) try their album Judgement. Anathema started as a doom metal band, in 1990, and then transformed to a more melancholic and atmospheric band. Enjoy!

Anathema is the most inventive and original band in the last (at least) 10 years, and still so underrated! :(

Mars Volta aren't my favorite band in the world by any means but they are just as creative as any other modern prog band. Sorry to be rude, but implying that TMV is unimaginative is silly. With that said Anathema is much more up my ally as I'm really into Porcupine Tree.

This whole album is just breathtakingly beautiful.
I'm another one who saw them for the first time supporting Opeth and it was one of the best gigs I've been to in a long time. They were both awesome, each in their own way - not everything in life is a competition.
With this song I remember to someone, that probably I never will see him again.
Why is everyone arguing about what genre they are now? People grow up and tastes change. You should respect the artist's decision to play what they want.
This song, somehow, and I don't know why, crushes me very hard whenever I listen to it, but in a very good way. It feels good because it also feels like I can get myself back together in a very different way.

Listen Anathema since Judgement came out in 2000. I've seen them 10 times since then!! They made me feel more my humanity and passions. I never expected this HUGE phenomenal comeback !!! KUDOS to Anathema

i love this album , i love this song , i love anathema , i was hearing them since i was 5 years old they are still number 1 fav band on my list , they're music is so divine all of their songs are so emotional and i love that

Comparing Anathema to Coldplay or Mars Volta just shows how unimaginative you are. I like those bands, but Anathema is playing on an entirely different level.
@mickeywantstostab I personally dont like to lable Anathema in anyway, but I believe everything they do is a rebirth, this album is fatal. Anathema is Divine.
My favorite current bands and artists are Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Devin Townsend, Anathema, Katatonia, The Mars Volta, maudlin of the Well/Kayo dot, Ayreon, Agalloch, ISIS, GYBE.......others.
They are all great to me. It's not about who is greater than who...All these bands have moved and inspired me. We live in such a great era of music, that the amount of gems out there is vast and endless. I'm in Anathema season currently though :)

Yes, a 6/4 bar would be twice as long as 3/4, but it would sound identical.
There are practical ways to label bars, based on different factors (accents, phrasing, etc.), but a person can do whatever they wish within a given bar.
One can create "illusions" within time signatures - Example: Consider this song to be 4/4, and the notes are all triplets.
On paper, the song would look completely different, but coupled with a new tempo, it could sound identical.
@MolecularHeinosity Anathema was around way before both Mars Volta and Coldplay.Their earlier stuff sounds nothing like this,they use to be a doom metal band.Starting around the album Alternative 4 they changed alot. If you like this style I suggest you check out all albums after Eternity,especially Fine day to exit.But you should really listen to all of their albums.In my opinion they are the best band on the face of the earth!
@hask2112 Judgement was my launching point into Anathema. A great album by a great band. This is a little lighter in tone (almost happy by Anathema's standards compared to their older stuff. I can't recommend it all enough. However, if you really like this, I'd avoid anything before Alternative 4, it's a lot more Doom Metalish. Still really good, but you have to like that kind of music.
@BlackestEyes1963 i like anathema but if we talk about making music and being prof. , dude did you forget "Eternity" , its a good albums but the vocal sucks , im not saying anathema are not good , no its one of my favi. but when i listen to Coldplay music , the quality of the sound , the preformance live , totally different , they are better in that but for me anathema worths to , just like porcupine Tree VS anathema , no compare if we talking about the producing or making music or playing Live
@EvilMambo its not about being older ...its about the style...anathema is good on expressing our feelings , just like someone is talking to you or reading your mind...and thats is with porcupine tree too...but coldplay is different and i think it is not possible to compare them with anathema only in this album "we`re here bcoz we`re here" which i didnt get its meaning yet...and as a band , Coldplay are more prof. in making their music and in inspiration...so many differences...

Well I've heard few of the new songs... to be honest some I like, some not, but my feelings at all are mix and to be honest I've expected for all these years without studio album something really really powerful, something that really grab your throat and leave you breathless through the songs. I don't know really. I hope after few days I will start like the album but for now is... nothing that special as was Judgement or A Fine Day To Exit. Nothing so special to say my admiration
I love Anathema. Everyone raves about The Mars Volta, but they kind of annoy me. Cold Play is good, but why compare Anathema to anyone? Anyone who does is surely missing an element of the music, because Anathema offers atmosphere and emotion that is so much deeper and more powerful than anything. They're beyond comparison.
ANATHEMA USED TO BE A GOOD DOOM METAL BAND BACK IN THE DAY...
But now they're just keep sounding like PORCUPINE TREE on and on... Mmm, no, wait; Porcupine Tree gets REAL HEAVY constantly (Circle of manias, Open car, Way out of here, Gravity eyelids, Anesthetize...)
Anathema now sounds more like BLACKFIELD since there are no more power chords on it. Evolution, I guess.
@hask2112 indeed Judgement is awesome. You could also try Alternative 4. This is the best album yet in my eyes. Also Hindsight was beautiful.
So much to choose from.. With Anathema you can't really go wrong.
The first few albums are a completely different style though so you might want to check those out before buying ;)
@mitashkimitko I'm fan of them since 1996 and... I don't know, I grew up with their sensitiveness but I guess now this is their road. Life goes on... The songs are not bad at all.. just miss this athmosphere that only Anathema can provide, for all you that know them well you know what i mean. Well... Enjoy the songs and respect their choice. We're Here Because We're Here is a great great album. I purchased it recently, while looking for a new band to get into, and because I am already a huge Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson fan, and he produced it. It's a great disc, and I got hooked on Anathema.
@modjo4life Masterpiece? no. But this is a really good album ;) I would recommend Judgment.
Their concert in Inowrocław was soo awsome! I was so happy that I started to cry... can you imagine that? The best concert I've in my life

@hask2112 A Fine Day to Exit is, in my opinion Anathemas best album. Its a tie really with Were Here.... and A Fine Day to Exit. Its like the Old Testament and New Testament. Both are wonderful albums
