What a phenomenal film!! I honestly was super surprised by how gripping the story was from start to finish and how emotional it was. It's kinda cool this is a love story as well as a space adventure. Also the music...wow. Enjoy :)

Did you know that Christopher Nolan planted 500 acres of corn just for the film because he did not want to CGI the farm.
and sold them for a profit
@@bonesnapper93 Amazing what you can do when you have land.
@@bonesnapper93If I recall correctly he even said it was the most profitable thing from the film relative to how much they spent on it too lol
that’s so good too cause he didn’t have to destroy crops that were actually gonna be used to feed people
And then made a profit. Genius.
fun fact: the very first words of this movie is Murph telling her dad “I thought you were the ghost”
Another fun fact: that was indeed their first handshake
"Because my dad promised me." is such a punch everytime
really is, and for me, rewatching it now as a dad, it just wrecked me in a way I didn't think was possible
For me "Do you see your children?" hit harder... but that is probably the result of me not being able to have children, and my dad promising several things he didn't end up doing.
This reactor is extremely intelligent. Every other reactor I’ve watched, (including myself) had trouble just keeping up with this movie, but he seemed to be perfectly on point with everything being presented.
that's Oscar for u!! I really enjoy every reaction from him to every show/movie, especially to stuff like "Interstellar"! I wish him and his channel great things😁💓
Every "tick" on the Miller's planet soundtrack is one earth day
omg
Interstellar isn’t just a movie; it’s a gut-punch wrapped in a space epic. Hans Zimmer’s organ-fueled soundtrack alone could make me cry over a physics textbook, and Nolan somehow makes time dilation feel more tragic than any breakup I’ve ever had. The visuals? Breathtaking. The science? Just close enough to real to make me Google "how to survive a black hole." And that bookshelf scene? Let’s just say dust allergies weren’t the only reason my eyes were watering. It’s a rare film that makes you feel small in the universe but huge in your emotions. Absolute masterpiece.
Oh dude, you should definitely check out Arrival, it's one of the best scifi movies I've seen, with a really interesting premise and a unique take on "first contact with aliens" genre
I second this !!
I also second this!
I think he would love that one! Another movie I can’t watch without a box of tissues lol
I unfortunately had a key part of Arrival ruined for me, but I still enjoyed every moment of it, it's a fantastic film.
One of the most boring movies I've ever seen; and I'm a language nerd.
It's so incredible that Mathematicians and Engineers got together to simulate the black hole during a time where the concept was yet to be verified and the simulation ended up being EXACTLY what we ended up seeing on the first recordings of black holes we ever got YEARS later.
I've waited for you to react to this forever. It's my favourite space movie and you are my favourite reaction channel so this is the best combo! I need to grab a lots of snacks for this
I have also been waiting for this movie and he is also my favorite reaction channel too!! He’s such a gem, we don’t deserve him!
The organist Zimmer worked with for this score is a true genius. Even as someone who isn't religious, there's something universally spiritual about that sound
Everyone about to watch this expects a space movie, but no one expects how emotional it is and to weep during this movie. This is such a beautiful movie, from the filming to the music. I'm so glad that this film seems to be getting more love the past few years. I hope you react to Arrival someday.
Yes, Arrival is another one that can make you think and make you cry.
The "Because my dad promised me" always has me in tears no matter how many times i watch it.
Doesn't matter how old you are. You will always be your parents little child. And you will always depend on them.
When Cooper sacrificed himself to drop into the black hole, Brand was begging him 'don't'...from her perspective, she and Coop were the last two humans in the universe. In the closing sequence, she thought she was the last human left in the universe...totally alone.
Next space movie has to be The Martian with Matt Damon. The crops were grown for the production so they could destroy them practically. They then sold the corn and actually made a profit from the original 500 acres they planted. Hans Zimmer's main theme for this movie is at the base just 3 chords and then there is so much added to it in the different ways he uses it to convey what is happening on screen. I am surprised you haven't watched The Prestige yet from him.
The dust bowl actually happened in America. Those old cameos seemingly from the future were survivors of The calamity that inspired the book The Grapes of wrath
fastest click in history, nice mustache btw
They counseled with actual scientists for this movie in order to make every theory as real as possible. I love that they didn’t just wing it. Much respect.
If I somehow make it through until the end without crying, “because my Dad promised me” gets me without fail. I love sci-fi. This is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Please consider Arrival and Annhiliation. Arrival is another deeply emotional one. Annhilation has cosmic horror vibes, but it’s whismical in a way, too.
this is easily my favorite movie of all time. This is not only proof a movie doesn’t have to be flawless to be a masterpiece but truly shows how beautiful space is without being a boring mess like 2001
We need Arrival next!!
Fun fact the corn fields were planted in Alberta, Canada! And once they were done filming, they sold the corn for a profit 😊
This movie = father/daughter story.
Arrival = mother/daughter story.
Frequency = father/son story.
Dune = mother/son story.
I like this list❤
I still remember when I first watched this in theaters for a film class field trip. Afterwards, we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner but everyone was in such a daze that no one talked for a good solid few minutes 😂
Matthew recently posted a video where he answered how they did the 23 years later reaction, he said that he was watching the video(on screen from his "kids") for the first time so that he could react to it properly and it bloody worked
There’s always a first take. Do you mean he improvised and wasn’t given the script?
46:08 I LIVE for Oscar's shocked reactions😂
How are there so many people/reactors who have not watched this masterpiece?!
2:47 "also the music is just crazy good" like two minutes in. That's Hans Zimmer for you!
I just watched this a few hours ago on the big screen cause it was rereleased. I got nonstop chills and of course bawled my eyes out!
I was so happy I also got to catch it again recently on the big screen. Mind blowing!
Interstellar is one of very few 3h films that I can watch over and over again.
It never feels like 3 hours. It’s so good
Before I start watching I wanna say I'm so excited for this. I've been waiting patiently for you to get to Interstellar. It's my favorite movie of all times and your movie reactions are simply on another level. Let's goooo!
i watched the movie at least 20 times and i still cry like a baby. I Love this film so mutch and i love this reaction. Thx for that.
Same here. "Do you see your children?" is probably the line that gets me to tears the most.
One of my favorites.. I'm just so fascinated by space. And the music is brilliant. TARS was a perfect addition to help alleviate some of the intensity.
When the aspects ratio changes to full screen that means those scenes where shot using the imax cameras
So glad you enjoyed this movie. Great concept. Great acting and everything involved to make it.
Loving the new look! Looks great! Also I'm so excited to watch this 😊
The stubble looks good mate
I really, really liked the first half of this movie on my first watch. The second more sci-fi half has taken me some getting used to, but I can now say that I whole-heartedly love this movie so much. And the musical score is literally one of the best out there. Hans Zimmer, you did it again!!
They just did a re release of this movie in IMAX for its ten year anniversary in December. The IMAX theater I went to to see it was two hours away from where I live, and when we got there they did a whole introduction of IMAX and how it works. Fun fact, we were told that there were people from all over the world who traveled to this theater (in Texas) to have the IMAX experience. They specifically mentioned there were people who traveled there from Australia!
For this movie, they tried to be as realistic as possible and worked with astrophysicists. For the black hole (or more accurately, the accretion disk), they created the best simulation to date, and with the recording of Sagitarius A (the black hole in the center of our galaxy), they basically got confirmation that the simulation is correct.
Well, the scientific accuracy gets lost at the inside of the black hole. Our current understanding and our models don't work at that singularity.
There’s a book called The Science of Interstellar by Kip Thorne. I highly recommend it.
I remember leaving the IMAX theater after seeing this for the first time and I was SHOOK - Had to go to the nearest bar for many martinis and conversation
Oh Oscar you just absolutely made my evening. This thing is an absolute MASTERPICE and I felt for the longest time that it's totally a movie for you. Also side note it feels weird seeing you with facial hair 😧 (it looks great)
The reason that the intro had such a strong documentary style when they were talking about the drought, is because those were real people that they interviewed about their experience living through the Dust Bowl. They took some of their experiences and incorporated it into the film, which worked wonders. I had to do a project on the Dust Bowl in school, it was heartbreaking hearing about some of the ways in which people desperately tried to survive.
Yeeees! Lets go! Another Interstellar Reaction! I am addicted to these!
This is my favorite movie of all time, I'm so glad you finally gave it a watch! Always great to see someone who actually takes in and processes the super deep concepts it explores
Please react to the Martian next!! Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain (adult murph) are both in that movie and it’s also incredible heartwarming and quite funny as well. I think you’d like it 🙂
If I had a dollar for every space movie whose plot had to do with saving Matt Damon from a planet, I'd have two dollars, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice 😂
I watched it again yesterday in the theatre!!!!😍😍
I watched it todayyyy
Another cool coincidence it that one of the people working on the wormhole is played by William Devane, an actor who also played in the TV show Stargate, a show about using a wormhole to travel to distant galaxies.
The love between Cooper and his daughter saved us as in it allowed us to leave safely, and the love between Dr. Brand and Edmund gave us our new home.
It’s good that you waited to watch this until you were ready instead of just giving in to demand.
This way we get to experience your best reaction. So thanks 👍🏼
The beard 😍😍😍
Same😍
I Did My Waiting! 12 Years Of It! In Azkaban!
It's finally happening!!
Also, you should let that beard grow. Looking good 😄
This and Contact feels like two sides of the same coin. Our place with each other vs our place in the universe. Love both : ]
First video of yours, took me half an hour to think of who you reminded me of... and it's Jonathan Rhys Meyers! Phew... I can watch the reaction in peace now 😂
I'm so excited to watch your reaction to this movie!!! Been looking forward to it for so long:')
A funny ( but probably accidental ) callback is that in the movie "2010" John Lithgow's character discusses the value of a good hotdog at a stadium. Here in Interstellar, his character also pointsa out the value of a good hotdog at a game.
I have to start this by saying; this is the best reaction to a movie i have ever seen ever. The problem i have had with other reactions of this movie is that they leave so many key moments in the movie behind. You kept the most important parts of the movie in the raction. At the same time, you clocked on to the most important things all the way. There is so much in the beginning that is important to the movie that other reacorts don't include. I just have to say; you picked up so much about the story in your first reaction, that this cannot be your first reaction to this movie. I probably saw this movie 3/4 times before i completly understood everything. At the same time, this seemed like your first reaction to this movie. That is why i have to say; this is the best reaction to a movie i have ever seen ever.
I'm so happy u watched this one Oscar Inception and Interstellar are my top 3 Nolan films but my older brother showed me Interstellar a good amount growing up and since we have a 8 yr age age and I was very young at the time Tom's messages still got to me bc I understood Cooper was missing everything in his life. Even then I was 9 I just loved the planet with just water it was so cool to me. You look very handsome with a stuble
It’s funny that you mention the ratio change of the movie. I was mesmerized by the music so deep into the the movie, I didn’t notice it the first time I watched it.
I AM SO FAST AND OMG IM SO EXCITED
I was very fortunate to get to watch this in the iMax dome at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center when the film first came out. It was mind blowing and heart wrenching. You could hear sobs during some of the most emotional moments. One of the top 5 definitely must watch along with Arrival.
im so glad you reacted to interstellar i was waitinggg, i love this movie and i was so ready to beg in the comments for you to react to ittt
This movie has made me cry so hard, and I cry just as hard every single goddamn time I see it or see someone reacting to it. I am a SOBBING MESS. It's so good. How dare it be this good?
This and a few other movies inspired a joke a few years ago, that between eight of Matt Damon's films -- including "The Martian," "Interstellar," "Elysium," and "Saving Private Ryan" -- it was calculated that the rescue efforts to save him depicted onscreen amounted to $900 billion or so in real-life money.
Was about to comment this myself, it is honestly such a hillarious joke and at the same time it was so obvious that the collective Internet would sit down and crunch those numbers xD
31:07 This movie is so well acted, but I always laugh at "*cough cough* The dust..."
I have a mate who recently moved to Perth (Australia) from the UK and it already feels like he’s on another planet, so I can’t imagine😂
It's not really a "space" movie, buy if you haven't seen Arrival, I highly recommend it. What Interstellar is to everyone else, that's what Arrival is for me. A really smart movie, very emotional, and with a few cool twists. Plus aliens.
I love Arrival, such a great movie.
as someone who is currently experiencing -25 C degree weather here in Canada, I am VERY jealous of this dude's tan at the moment 😭anyway, to make this comment topical to the movie, parts of it were filmed near where I live in Alberta... not in winter though fortunately for the cast and crew!
I love your thinking process
Did you realize that KIPP (the robot that was with Dr. Mann) was speaking right before it blew up?
It said: "Please don't make me do this."
This robot was trying to resist against the order to kill someone.
Top 10 movie of all time for me. It’s insane and blows my mind every time I watch it
omg i watched interstellar for the first time in film study !! its such a good movie i LOVE it
Yess!! Finally! I've been waiting for you to Watch and React to this Movie!
The movie changes aspect ratio because some sequences were shot with IMAX film cameras, 65 or 70 mm depending on the scene. Large format film is super expensive (thousands of dollars per minute shot) so they didn't shoot everything that way. You are seeing it in its native aspect ratio and then the regular 35mm film its native anamorphic widescreen. They don't edit them to match. The quality of large format film is incredible though, with 70mm IMAX being essentially 18k resolution. You gotta see it in IMAX for the full effect.
46:07 Aaaaaaand THAT ladies and gentlemen was what I was waiting for all along! 😬🤣
Just so you know, the "cling" sound you hear in the background on Millers lanet (water plnaet) at around 1,25 second, it is actually equal to one day that passes in planet Earth. So like 1,25 second on planet Miller is equal to one day on earth.
You mentioned the pen through the paper thing to explain how black holes work being used "again" like it's been done too many times, but I'm pretty sure that this movie either came up with that explanation, or made it as popular as it is now.
Been waiting for FRIENDS reactions, but this more than makes up for it 😊
The line "because my dad promised me" just absolutely kills me every time
His mustache jump scared me
Finally!! One of my fav Nolan's film. Your reaction is one of my favorites too. P.S. love your scruff
P.S.S. THE most accurate black hole representation
fun fact: i think the 'interviews' in the beginning are real interviews of people who lived through the dust bowl in the US!
I've seen this move over 10 times and i just caught some brilliant writing in the goodbye seen. "i need to fix it before i go." "Then I'll keep it broken so you have to stay." I swear that sounds like accidentally describing the 5th dimension. 13:54
such an amazing movie every time i see it im amazed at the visuals it never gets old
once i tried to read a Nietzsche's book and my mom's husband saw me and told me i was gonna end up locked in an asylum like he did if i kept reading, idk why this thing you said at 5:29 unlocked this memory but im glad there's people like you who understands how important it is to educate yourself even though at the end you dont feel like empathizing with the thing you wanted to learn about (idk if im explaining myself lol).
38:14 don't know why but the delivery of this line always cracks me up 😅
I just started this video and I am so happy you're finally getting around to watching this.
Christopher Nolan actually planted 500 acres of corn just for the film, because he is not a fan of CGI, he later sold it for a profit
ahhh this is my absolute favourite sci-fi movie i’m so glad to see you watch it!!!
I should be awarded for being so early
I’m glad you liked this movie. It reminded me of Contact from the 1990s. I’d love to see you review that one. I would also love to see you watch Arrival. Another sci-fi with so much emotional resonance and mind blowing concepts. I think you would love it! ❤
This movie is where real men cried.
When he recieves the messages after the tidalwave planet, hearing his son's full story and what he missed out on. They are basically talking to him like we'd go to someone's grave to talk to a loved one, or as in a prayer. And hearing his daughter accuse him of breaking his promise to come back.
And to top it off with how she knew he'd be back because her dad promised her.
Yeh this movie is where real men cried...
I'm sure it's been said before but those documentary style things, if it wasn't Ellen Burstyn, it was actual documentary footage of the dust bowl from the 1930's
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
The part where Coop watches the videos from his kids, after 27 years of their time passing by, breaks me every time man. Time isn't evil or out to get us. It's just a fundamental part of reality and the universe. But man does it fucking suck.
Beyond excited you’ve watched this masterpiece!!
I've been absent from watching your videos lately mainly because I don't have the time to open TH-cam but man... that beard throws me off guard😂
Two comments: One, if you haven't watched The Martian yet, you need to see that :) And the other one: The VFX for the black hole were either the best or very close to the best ever (I can't quite remember), and they published a paper from the work they did to get it to be as accurate as they could. They hired scientists to get the physics as correct as they could, including working out what the parameters for the planet would need to be to create that 7 years per hour figure. Based on just the proximity that doesn't quite work (and that's where they left the explanation in the movie), but if you add in the right amount of spin they could get it to work out.
Also, I could be wrong here so someone should correct me if that's the case, but if I remember correctly most of the interviews for the documentary clips were from real people in the Dust Bowl, and they just used them for this movie.
I highly recommend Rio 2 since you already seen Rio a long time ago.
Interstellar ❤ Nolan's greatest work for humanity ❤
