    Desserts overseas are impressive.
    Although the colors and shapes are similar, it's a wonderful sensibility that isn't found in Japan.

    Girl when u said and showed u "didn't clean out the oven" I'm like honey mines is a little worse lol. The thing is social media and ppl wanna show spotless homes but the truth is that (especially when we have kids/families to care for) that even when our homes are spotless it lasts no longer than an hour. That's not real everyday life. I'd LOVE to normalize regular "lived in" homes. Momma always taught me there's a HUGE difference between dirty and messy. Normal folks with kids often times have messes around the home. As long as we're not leaving our messes for days on end then the become "dirty" it's all good. And the oven even is an exception because the little messes made in there tend to burn themselves off. Honey, in real life none of us have completely spotless ovens. Yours looks pretty normal and decently acceptably clean to me

    • @Ellieskitchen
      @Ellieskitchen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love your comment ❤️ thank you so much. I was self conscious about the oven/kitchen when I first started my channel ( the jello cake was one of my first videos..) I watched so many other cooking channels and saw how spotless everything was… I felt I had to do the same. The cake I made for this video was being made for my grandmothers birthday, so i didn’t have time for the cleaning prep. I forgot I put the text in the video saying “ didn’t clean out the oven “. 😄 I think one other subscriber has commented on it as well. Thank you again for your reassurance that it’s ok not to be perfect… even for you tube. Here’s a rose 🌹. Thank you for watching. God bless

    My mother made this minus the topping and it was delicious. It was not Jelloey, but simply moist and tasty.
    4 decades later, it crossed my mind, after jello is made and cools, add sweetened strawberries and pour over. Which the FDA & U.S.D.A., etc., doesn't mention it, but jello is good for the body.

    • @Ellieskitchen
      @Ellieskitchen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes jello is good for the body! Thank you for watching!

    • @SnagglePussDaCat
      @SnagglePussDaCat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      gelatin may be good for the body, but the food dyes, SUGAR, and all the other artificial flavorings and starches added to a packet of JELL-O are literally straight up cancer-causing poisons bro... don't get it twisted. Also, the corn syrup in the cherry pie filling does the same job on your liver as a pint of vodka- but that's also something that nobody seems to want to talk about

    When do you pour the jello into the cake? When it comes out of the oven or when it’s cooled down if that makes sense????

    • @Ellieskitchen
      @Ellieskitchen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I cool the cake before I poke the holes...otherwise the cake rips easily while poking. Then I pour the jello on. In a nutshell...the cake is cooled before I pour on the jello. I will add this info into my description box. Thank you for asking. ❤️

  • @phookimontana
    @phookimontana 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    My cake come out crunchy. I’m thinking the jello didn’t dissolve. I’m not happy with it. Any tips. I did poke the holes and pour the jello while both cake and jello were hot and used a springform non stick square pan.

    • @Ellieskitchen
      @Ellieskitchen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m thinking it must of been the jello not being totally dissolved. And that would make sense...: cuz the jello is poured through out the entire cake. This is the first time I’ve heard of the cake being crunchy. Was the entire cake crunchy... or just in certain spots? Here’s another thought, did you put the cake in the freezer before topping it with the coolwhip ? Frozen jello would make a crunchy texture. I only freeze the cake before I apply the coolwhip so it’s easier to spread on top of the soft cake. I don’t store it in the freezer.... store it In the refrigerator. I hope this helps. Let me know if it did. 😃

  • @florettabarton7359
    @florettabarton7359 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Very interesting. I will try making the jello poke cake. Does the cake have to be cool before pouring the jello on it. I am not using the cherry pie or the whipp cream. Can I only put the cake with the jello in the body of the fridge instead of the freezer?

    • @Ellieskitchen
      @Ellieskitchen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The cake should be cool before poking the holes. Otherwise the cake is too soft and it will tear more than it should when being “poked.” So, yes, wait til the cake is cool to add the jello on top. And yes, if you’re not adding the pie filling OR the whip cream, the cake can go in the refrigerator. The reason why I put it in the freezer is to “ harden” the cake before I put the whip cream on top....it will spread better and smoother. Thank you for asking.
