    If you don't want to keep all that powder in her hair, all you have to do is wash it out. The baby powder soaks up the grease, which means when you wash it out, the grease goes away, along with the powder. I used this method on my Ashlynn Ella doll. I hope this helps!!!:D

    What I have done is the same thing as u using baby powder I did it for my mattel anna bc she has a bad glue seepage problem and then after a couple hours (I recommend 24 hrs) wash out the powder with COLD water and conditioner and it keeps the hair a bit shinier and soft and not as matte and dry feeling I hope this helps for anyone who needs to stop the glue seepage :)

  • @LisaTigressHardy
    @LisaTigressHardy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +136

    I use this powder method too. I find that brushing the powder through the hair helps to get as much of the leaking glue out as possible, and it also helps to keep adding powder as you brush it, then when I'm finished with the powder, I wash the hair using hot water as hot as it will go from the tap (not boiling mind you) and a bowl of some sort and I dunk the head into the water and dip it up and down like dipping a tea bag for 10 seconds then I use baby shampoo because it's very mild and helps to remove all of the excess powder on the head and hair. I brush the hair again while the shampoo is in the hair to help combat tangles and distribute the shampoo evenly to make sure it gets rid of all the powder that was used. The I just rinse in warm water and let the dolls air dry. Had to do this with my Disney Princess Ariel, Frights Camera Action Lagoona, 13 Wishes Twyla, Ghoul's night Out Rochelle and Scaris Frankie.

    I started using baby powder yesterday on my monster high dolls. I even use it on the ones the have dark hair and it works perfectly fine. I just repeat this process a couple times until I'm satisfied:
    1. washing (I use the one you wash the dishes with)
    2. using an oil or conditioner (I usually do that only the first time)
    3. using baby powder
    4. washing it off

I thought this method was perfect but I had no baby powder, so I ended up using corn starch, and it worked fantastic, so soft and no longer greasy. With some brushing, I even got some of the sheen back.

    the glue in the head is a REALLY BIG issue Mattel has been doing and it was at one point on barbie collector dolls but when they got complaints saying it was hazardous , they slowly stoped , but they didn't completely stop. skelitas hair drives me crazy. btw great video ;)

  • @anie6142
    @anie6142 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, I used oxi clean on a Rochelle once and it worked, though I had to let the hair in the oxi clean solution for 3-5 days then washed it (I don't remember if I did boil wash or regular wash) then later on I used just a little baby powder to soak up any excess that remained, it mainly depends on how bad the glue seepage is. I know someone first used baby powder, then washed the hair, then put a ton of baby powder inside the head and let it there for hours then shook some excess but still let a considerable amount of powder when they put the head back in place, they used a first release Elissabat. Also you may need to re-apply baby powder to the scalp of any doll you curl and/boil wash since it will start seeping a little again (personal experience on that one), I used a small brush (paint/makeup) to apply it. Have a nice day!

  • @kurt5987
    @kurt5987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Maybe you could remove the doll head, and use some kind of acetone or goo gone to remove the glue inside the doll head. You could also do it on the outside to fix the sticky hair problem. When the inside glue is dissolved, just add fabric glue in the inside to replace the old glue.

    I feel like any method that plugs up the roots might work? You'd probably have to test this on a doll you don't mind risking, but maybe taking like modge podge and slowly but carefully adding a little drop at each of the root holes would seal it and keep it from leaking? It would take time cause you would have to wait for some of the holes to dry before moving into others because you wouldn't want the modge podge to get into the rest of the hair, but it's a thought?

    It seems that whenever I get Draculauras (I buy a lot of dolls second-hand, for modding purposes, they won't look like they did anyway, so the condition where I get them in isn't too important), the hair is *always* more or less gluey. Venus for some reason seems to usually always dodge it in the long part of her hair though.

    Do you think theres any way to use this method to get rid of sticky grease on a Honey swamp?? (Dont want to brush out her curls, im thinking of massaging the powder on her head and doing the same to wash it out)

    I tried fixing my Dance Class Lagoona with a different technique involving dish soap and rubbing alcohol and it made her hair 100% worse.
    I then tried this baby powder method on my w1 Frankie and her hair completey transformed to big and soft and fun. When I'm ready to try Lagoona again I'm defs doing this method
    By the way, the powder did lighten Frankie's black streaks but I kinda like it? So I'm leaving it in, I just think it looks cooler. And I've got a 13 Wishes Twyla coming so when it got pointed out that she specificaly has bad glue hair issues I just 😳

    Thanks for this! I just got a Tiana and a Merida doll from the second hand store, and their hair feels so weird! I asked my mom and her opinion was it is the type of material that the hair is, or the manufacturer put something in the hair to make it stay. I have washed their hair with Dawn like 50 times lol I will try powder...

    I have a greasy headed Mirror Beach Ashlynn that I shampooed 3 times. I even put baby powder in her hair and then washed it out~ still greasy. I think I should leave the powder in like you showed us. She's a stubborn one but I love her face! I think it's prettier than the original Ashlynn. They all have their good features and my collection has grown to 14 now. I'm waiting for Duchess Swann (and 3 others) from Amazon. :D

    I have been fixing the greasy her problem by funnelling baby powder and bath salts into the dolls head then I wash the hair then the powder and salts soak up the grease then I just shake the head. Finally I put the head on the body 🙃

    I'm just thinking, is Draculauras hair wet on this video? Did you wash it? Can you just the babypowder directly after washing it?

    These companies knew kids bathe with their toys, and used a hair glue that becomes soft and sticky in hot water...grrrr! Removing the hair from these dolls for rerooting is annoying because A. They're sticky and B. You don't know if you got it all--even if you swab inside the head--and if you didn't it's just going to leak again.

    I bought a MH doll second hand and, having no idea this could be a problem, washed her hair with hot water to remove the kinks! Suggenly her hair was all sticky and "greasy!" I'm so glad for this video on how to correct the problem! Thank you!

    I'd suggest baking powder for this. It should be less visible than baby powder..

    I tried this for my Elissabat doll that I've been wanting for so long. I didn't like how it made her black and dark purple hair grey and white... However I made a paper funnel and poured baby powder into her head which seemed to calm it down but the glue is still leaking...

    I just got a Maddie and she also has hair so greasy that the box was stained by it, on top of the excessive product that was in there. Thank god I picked her up to do a completely different character and I can just extract all the old hair and glue, but it is SO BAD.
