Love looking at all those old cars! TR4:) I think he drove up and down Queens Gate which was my long walk to college from South Kensington to Kensington Gore in the 70s.
Could be the spring of 1971, cars I saw Hillman Avenger, Austin Maxi, Mk3 Cortina, FD Vauxhall Victor, Ford Escort, Singer Vogue model of Hillman Hunter. Foreign cars Beetles, Renault 4 and 16, Fiat 600/850, Citroen 2CV and DS.
Lots of great cars! This is brilliant, 1 of the best I've seen! I saw a number of Minis & Morris Travellers & just a few foreign cars including the green Citroen 2CV near the end!
Well, Gloucester Road and South Kensington. Headed /towards/ Earl's Court in one scene. Awesome vid! You could drive around the same roads today and the only noticeable change would be the cars :D
Agree totally, especially for those of us with parents who migrated to the UK...some people don't realise that much that is good in this country was created by immigrants. The other thing I like is that it doesn't look too difficult to find a parking space!

I love these little glimpses of the past, takes me back to childhood - skipping along the streets looking at the cars, when you think about it, there were a hell of a lot of cars on the road then as well!

They were shot for TV productions for use as back projection, particularly those from ITC. The film would be run behind actors who would be sat in a car on a studio soundstage to give the impression that they were driving. Some of the other similar shots on here uploaded by Kino were originally filmed for use in the likes of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), Man In A Suitcase and Department S.
Wonderful cars! But most were tin cans. If you were in an accident you were doomed - extremely high number of road deaths per head in the 60s. Leaded petrol, and the noise - these 60s cars made a terrible din! Whilst the 60s was a fun time for some in the UK, for many it was a harsh decade. Highly judgemental and prejudiced attitudes, terrible snobbery, lots of repressed emotions, it was illegal to be gay, no equal marriage or age of consent, you were called a 'bastard' if you were married out of wedlock, schools routinely assaulted children. This was not a kinder decade.
3:14 Imperial hotel on the right corner. Then in business, mid seventies being bought by saudi's who left it vacant for years and years, only to be torn down and turned into a parking lot. Disgrace.
There were a lot of Asians moving into Britain in the early 70s, not long after this, and there were some Muslims already living in Britain in the 50s.
The cars, oh my god! The cars...so many beautiful 60/50s cars sprinkled around this scene!
And so considerately parked!
Wonderful footage. I grew up in this area in 60s and 70s. It all looks very familiar but less frenetic. A kinder world back then.
I did too. It was a wonderful place to live then! Would love to be able to go back...
Oh my gosh, driving through my childhood, thank you
Nostalgic Video's of the Best Sixties Cars of the Past 😊
A treasure trove of beautiful cars and also buildings. Thanks John {Australia}
Love it, a wonderful drive down memory lane.
04:30 That yellow Mustang Boss. This 1970 onwards.
That mustang looks so big against the majority of the cars back then… how things have changed
One of best video's i have seen on London's traffic from that era.thank you for sharing it,
This is when London was a good city
That feels like a movie set. How beautiful. I hope Reform UK clean out the trash to get back that beauty

Mack Lee ... and all the markings on the road and the road signs... too much visual pollution nowadays...😖🤔
Mr H!!!!!!
03:59 OMG so many trees, where have they all gone😢
Great Video !!!!!😀
How quiet? Lovely
And not a F*** ing bike in sight pure heaven
Other than two at 1:53 🙄
I counted about 40 Minis in the first 90 seconds (no exaggeration). The first film is 1966 or 67. The second film is early 70s.
At the 4.30 mark, we see a 1970 Ford Mustang in yellow with a black bonnet stripe.
In amongst the parked cars, I spotted three Bristols.
Lived near earls Court
1st video on this channel of London without the bigots commenting! I love the fact there are hardly any yellow lines!

harry Wyatt : There you go everyone!! Never long before the Bigots turn up to ruin it...I bet you start rants with “I’m not racist , but...”
these films were shot about feb. 1967
swinging London, my toddlerhood
Almost no litter or chewing gum on the roads/pavements from what I can see
Looks spotless.

Fascinating and nostalgic..... but what was the purpose of films like this and why were they made ? How would they eventually be used ?

Just as many cars as there is now , just no rubbish street furniture ,simple times
Two Mini Cooper s's at 1.13
...and not single black SUV

Ok exact date please .Ill plunk for sept 65
NO...I'd bet on 1967.
Late 66, early 67... There was an HB Viva. I think they came out in 67

Back when pollution wasn’t an issue
Except that it was. There may not have been many cars but they all ran on leaded fuel and were very inefficient.
@@_B.M_ i suppose so, but it wouldn’t have been as widespread in the news like it is today if you know what I mean
