No one should opt mechanical engineering. I am suffering with this decision. CS/IT/ECE are earning in lakhs whereas mechanical engineers don't get a job, forget about the salary. One should opt mechanical engineering if he/she has reference in a company or should graduate from tier1 colleges only.

You shouldn't really do anything expect CSE and ECE from tier-2 or tier-3 college.
Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil should be opted only if you are getting them in IITs or good NITs. Mechanical Engineers from IITs earn over 10-15 LPA even in core. Whereas in ordinary colleges, there are no jobs.

@@mallikarjunan9207 you need to get into a good college if you want to do Mechanical. Btw people of ONGC, NTPC, NHPC are Mechanical Engineers who earn in lakhs per month and do not do 8 hours of standing labour.
