So glad to see you post this video. I was struggling between the Piper, the Sirocco and the Nucleon for my second wing (I started with the spyder and put about 200 hrs on it). I had it in my mind that the driftair might be my next wing after one of those. Looks like I could have jumped right to that one. Soooooo many good choices out there. I guess you really can't go wrong with all the great wings out there. -Blue skies!!
Yep! So many to choose from. Asking people that fly with me who are more advanced than myself helped me make my decision since they already know how I fly.
Oh lawdy! That's a pretty big jump from the Flex One to a Drifty! I thought about the Drifty myself, but talked a few folks about it and saw it person and realized, yeah I could fly it, but I'm just not ready for it plus I enjoy some of the easy mode aspects of a B wing that I don't want to give up yet.
I get that. My goal for getting a new wing was to get my "forever wing" where I wouldn't have to keep buying wings as I advance. So while it's a bit spicy now, I certainly don't have to do crazy acro and swoop landings...until I build up to it. And I kept my Flex (Ol' Faithful) on days that I want to fly chill.
might as of the 360 cam, but looks like you can practice your occelation stop-timing. im flying the exacte same wing on a vertigotrike and a polini250 and you should be able to correct it by 1 pull and then it stands still for like 60secs or so. as i start with the trike im on trrim 3 i find it as the sweet spot for not hanging or overshooting. lokks like your happy congrats :)
Thanks!! Yeah, the oscillations are nothing really. My old flex couldn't oscillate even if it wanted to so to have a little bit of oscillation from this wing was just my first impression. Still loving the wing!
Thanks! I don't sit on my selfie stick like some other folks do. I mount it to the side of my seat on the outside. There's a bar going across that is perfect for mounting it.
Steve, now you've had this wing for a year, how does it do if you want to go hands off on a 30 mile cross country? Looking for my next wing and I spend most of my time carving low but I also like to go for a hands off cruise. Was thinking this or a Hadron 3?
Hey Shane! I'm still loving the driftair. Regarding hands off, as long as the air isn't trashy where you feel like you need to active pilot, you can stow the brakes and just weight shift wherever you want to go. And if you need to make little corrections that need more than weight shift, the tip steering makes it easy, you can turn while your brakes are still stowed. I wish I had Hadron 3 experience so I could give you a comparison but I do love my driftair.
Hi Steve I´m looking to get a Driftair 22m or 24m just a bit unsure about weights. Whats your weight? I tried a 20m Driftair and had a lot of oscillation, I see in your video you had a bit of oscillation as well. I think I had a lot of oscillation as I over loaded the wing. Not sure, but may be if I go for a 24m that would cut some of the oscillation. I take it your wing was the colour fusion? Any ways I look forward to your reply. thanks for the video!
Hey! Thanks for watching! I'm right at 200 which is also at the high end of the 22's specs but my goal weight is down to 180 which will put me a little more in the middle of the range (I think...can't remember the specs). If I was staying at 200, I'd probably have gotten the 24m. I'm not sure if you get more or less oscillation with weighing it down more but honestly, it's not that bad. If you want no oscillation, you'll lose some performance (and fun). And I can't remember what they call the blue one but I really like the color. Other pilots that see the color like it as well.
@@HamishCouper It depends on your all-up weight is. My total weight with 8 liters of gas is 285lbs or 129kg. The range for the 22m wing is 110-135 and I didn't want to be that close to the upper end of the weight limit. With me getting my weight down to 180lbs or 120kg, my weight is more in the middle of the weight range. With that being said, I wouldn't want to be on the lowest weight of the range of a wing. That's why I didn't want to get a 24 meter version and the 20meter version would have had me at the top of the range. This link with the specs should help out: dudek.eu/en/produkt/driftair/ With all that being said, Dudek says you can go over the weight range if you're more experienced. Contact someone who sells dudek wings, they may be able to get you a demo 22meter to try out. Good luck and let me know what you end up buying!
@@ParamotorSteve one last thing, when you park the brakes and go hands off, do you get much oscillation and have to make adjustments all the time? and how does the driftair perform doing cross country?
@@HamishCouper In light winds, the oscillation isn't noticeable. Regarding cross country, best to ask someone else as I usually just goof around in the air and not go straight from point a to b. LOL
@@ParamotorSteve i know. Iam flying for 3 years on hadron 3 -20m and it ist a bit booring for me now. I tested 20m snake 3, tooo much booring, and 20m drifty was bit better. So i decided for me will be funny and good this 18m 😊
Looked like you almost had riser twist on takeoff?? I prefer the H3 to the Drift Air as it does not oscillate at all and has the same versatility. You were oscillating way too much for my liking.
It was also a bit windy that day. Some of the lesser windy days, it's very stable. And yeah, that takeoff was definitely a little scary. The torque from the motor definitely wants to push me to the right. My takeoffs since then on this wing are still kinda wonky but definitely not as "twisty"
Your inability to control the oscillation is an immediate indicator that you’re not ready for this glider. This is precisely why Dudek has a lineup of gliders to profess through. You gave up a huge amount of passive safety for performance you are not even close to utilize. Oscillation control should have been learned during training. Very concerning video. Please exercise more caution with your flying choices
Where did you get that I couldn't control the oscillation? I mentioned there is more oscillation than my beginner wing but that's to be expected. I even mentioned that "it's not crazy oscillation" and "it's nothing that can't be fixed with some brake pressure". Thanks for your concern but I am flying this wing inside of my skill/ability.

Sweet - Keep your legs out under you and your wing above you - looks like you’re enjoying the new wing!
Loving the new maneuverability!
Great review! While I'm not ready for that much spice, you make it look fun. Keep it up.
Thanks! It's definitely fun! I'm not quite ready to see *how* fun it is! LOL.

@Paramotor Steve thanks for the reply. Why would you go for the 24m if you stay at 200? I'm 215 pounds do you think I should go for the 24m then?

Hi. Witch size do you have and what is your take off weight pls?
I got the 22 meter. I think my all up weight is probably 265lbs with motor and gas. There's a chart that shows the ranges for each size.
@@ParamotorSteve uf. My take off weight is about 125-135 kg and i just ordered 18m drifty 😊 thx for answer😇
