It's not a scone. It's a buttermilk biscuit. Scones are rather dry and crumbly. Biscuits are soft and buttery and the ingredients are different between the two. Falling on wet floor = FREE FOOD.🤣👏
Well there is a difference in terminology. What Americans call a Biscuit, the Brits call a Scone. What the Brits call a Biscuit, Americans would call a Cookie. See also, American French Frys = Brit "Chips" / American Chips = Brits Crisps
Oh Lia, I almost cried seeing you cry! I was so relieved to see you start laughing at your bad luck immediately after your fall. You and Joel seem like family to me! I just want both of you to enjoy life, be happy and continue to make all of us so happy! Take care.
Wendy's have tried over the years to be open for breakfast and offer unique things, but they just couldn't compete with Burger King and McDonald's. So they have tried, they just have decided they are a lunch and dinner restaurants. And that's pretty common among most fast food places, except for the rare 24-hour places like Jack In The Box and McDonalds. Breakfast requires a whole different variety of things that they just can't justify the cost to carry when they would rather be making hamburgers and or tacos Etc. But their lunch food usually is a step above the normal BK and McDonald's fare.
Walking through a drive-thru is a safety/liability issue for the corporation and workers i.e. robbery, falls, inattentive drivers running into persons “standing” at the windows. Bicycles aren’t generally allowed either for the same reasons. You wouldn’t believe the things a drive-thru worker sees!
@@ThoseTwoBrits1 My favorite for breakfast is to eat breakfast sausage with Maple Syrup. (doesn't have to be on a sandwich, even.) That is def a flavor combo you should try if you get the chance.
IceMetalPunk I think there are a lot of unnecessary lawsuits in America and there are a lot of people just looking to get a quick buck and I think it’s disgraceful and harms the greater society. In this particular instance, the company is wholly responsible and needs to compensate this couple, specifically the one that was physically harmed.
@@mattiethesurfer Compensate her for a bruise? How much is that worth? There's no doctor's bill, no medical procedures. It's a bruise. How much should she sue for, do you think?
OMG yes 😍😍😍 when you put the jam on the sandwich my heart was filled. as an American I know for a fact that very few Americans put jam on their breakfast sandwiches. However, it is 100% my favorite way to eat a breakfast sandwich and it really warms my heart that you guys tried it that way
Americans would absolutely drive between those two stores. Most would try to park by the door and if it was busy would keep driving around in circles until a space opened up.
Truth. People park in the closest space or the one with the most shade. Something I don't understand is I work at a gym with a decent sized parking lot. I hear people complaining ALL the time about trying to find parking. (there are enough parking spaces - they are too lazy to walk from the parking area at the side of the building.) - Yet they are coming to a gym to work out?
Yeah, absolutely. Me and my husband are working on our health together, but walking that distance wouldn't even occur to most Americans. It's just not the social norm. We do it sometimes, but it's pretty unusual. More like a fun little mini date. ☺
Haha, 39 seconds in and I'm yelling at my screen! "No, don't walk thru the drive-thru!" 😂 I guess by now you've learned that they won't serve you at the drive-thru unless you're on or in a vehicle.
Sorry you got hurt when falling, if the wet floor signs weren’t put out and the floor was wet, they are responsible for any injuries. They should have filled out an incident report in case you needed any emergency care.
Totally, I couldn't believe they weren't given everything for free! It's pretty standard in a situation like that and they shouldn't face had to ask. It should have just been given.
"What's Sears?" Me: lol, a company that's literally going out of business. They pioneered the catalog shopping craze in the early/mid 20th century, successfully made the switch to department store, but have failed to transition to the e-commerce era.
You guys probably know this from your travels but Jack in the Box and Wendy’s are national restaurant chains and they’re all over the country. There are restaurants that are unique to Austin like Conners, where instead of BBQ they serve Mexican food and have breakfast. I recommend a warm flour tortilla filled with eggs, cheese, refried beans and fresh salsa wrapped in foil. If it sits in the foil wrapper for a few minutes, everything melts together and its delicious. Ask for a soft breakfast taco in a flour tortilla🍳
Y’all (yes we say that a lot!) are wonderful! I love you both! Smart, funny, interesting and kind. I’d love to travel. I’m born and live in Texas. I love Texans, they are usually wonderful personalities and will share anything anyone needs. One difference I’ve noticed is that we Texans are very social (which is good as everyone I know have guns) A person can get into the longest conversations, even sharing personal things with perfect strangers. Or at least I do. I’m intensely interested in people hoping to be able to listen and help anyone. BUT, I HATE the heat! It gets over 100 degrees plus Fahrenheit here! I love watching you both! Y’all are so good together! Please keep making your vids! Sarah Hendrix
I’ll admit I initially laughed when you stacked it Lia (especially because it was accompanied with the sound effect) but seeing your little face after actually hurt my heart. Bless you sweetie. Sending hugs. Look after each other my fellow Brits. 😘🌹🇬🇧
Someone has probably already pointed out that the jam/jelly is usually for those that take half of the biscuit off of the sandwich and eat it separately.
In my remote area, in the state north of Texas, I'd say our favorite fast food breakfast items are the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit from McDonald's, and biscuit and gravy from Braum's.. Hardee's is also a popular breakfast spot, fast food-wise.
You two together is magic. I hope Lia is feeling better and I am sure Wendy's is glad your not suing them. I am loving your Texas tour vlogs. Thanks for being real and fun. Take care and I am looking forward to more Texas vids.
Lia, glad you're OK after that fall. I hope you weren't too badly bruised. Y'all handled the jam and jelly about how most of us would have. Open up the sandwich and add it and enjoyed that wrong but right taste :) Made me hungry and I already ate. :)
I SO wish you that had a Texan "Legend" to help you two navigate (sort through) your travels in Texas! It would REALLY make a big difference in your experience (IMHO)! I just want you to have a great Texan experience so that you'll return!
I totally totally agree! I want them to be at a Taqueria, too! I'm following on Instagram now. So I can be more up to date and maybe I'll actually catch them next time they're in Texas. Their guesses have been really good actually. But it would be so much better for someone to have made sure they were trying the best things.
Joel in the Box and Lia’s. 😂🤣 You need to definitely open your own fast food restaurants. ❤️. And, yes, people do put jam on their savory breakfast biscuits. The reason the manager was all over that fall is because you could sue their pants off if they didn’t have a wet floor sign up.
SueBee S Yes, but the reality is we live in a litigious society. People even sue when there’s no reason to sue. If I was a manager and I had not put up the wet floor sign, I’d be a bit worried. But, of course, that doesn’t mean the manager is not a genuinely empathetic person.
Oh Hell no, Wendys should have at Least comped your entire meal And gave you gift card. Sorry but No Excuse just because they were just opening, those Wet Floor signs are suppose to go up Every time they mop. Thats OSHA standards. Other workers could have fallen. No its negligence on their part...what if had hit your head or what if an elderly person had fallen? You should send that footage to the corporate office. and to OSHA. Dont believe I spelled that right, but this is million dollar corporation that Knows better. They obviously are very short staffed (common in fast food cuzz corps are Greedy af) and thats due to corporate office. Sorry but that infuriates me. Yes we have a litigious society, thats because we have too many oligarchs running havoc on workers And consumer rights. Its the Only way sadly to get any attention to things, like medical bills paid if you had of needed a doctor for that fall. No Corporations need to be Accountable. Period.
Please don't believe this. This isn't true at all. In America we do not have Universal Health Care and people incur large medical expenses after being injured. In our society we have deemed the people at fault to be responsible for those expenses instead of spreading the risk among everyone. No one gets free money from a lawsuit. It doesn't work like that despite popular opinion. One has to prove one's case by a preponderance of the evidence, using actual evidence.
"It's so wrong, it's right." Love it! They just offer you the jam/jelly, in case you want it. Definitely not the norm on savory item, but whatever floats your boat. So sorry Lia slipped and fell.
Yes, I think that every time Lia mentions a scone! I wonder what they would call what Americans call scones? Whatever it is, I'm really dying to try clotted cream now! It sounds so yummy, lol!
Omg. When Lia fell at Wendy's the first thing I thought was, "Oh shoot.. Law suit! Lia just got herself a boat load of money." The manager needed to make sure you didn't do that. Thanks for you videos, you guys are fun.
There should have been a sign for wet floor people sue for things like that all the time, especially if you are in pain later on , you guys are way too nice . Glad your ok .
Hi, at Wendy's the Asiago Chicken Ranch Club Sandwich is my favorite ... haven't been to a Jack in the Box for ages and I imagine their menu has changed a lot but I used to like their Onion Rings ... LOVE your jacket Lia ... sure hope you have fully recovered from your fall.
If you needed to go to a clinic for your hand or behind... they would have to of paid for it. Always ask for any incident report just for those reasons. Sometimes you don't realised it broke til later in the day. Soo sorry this happened to you.
Definitely. You’d be really missing out if you haven’t tried it. I’ve been addicted for like 2 or 3 decades now. Especially because of their Spicy variant.
All the luck to this beautiful couple! Lots of personality, charisma, great energy. They'll hit a million soon! They have a great formula that works. Put them in movies!
This might gross a lot of people out, but instead of jelly I would always put ketchup on that kind of breakfast sandwich because it is so much like a cheeseburger. I've never think of putting jelly or jam on it... But I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)
you think so? maybe im an outlier but i'm from the southern US and we love putting jelly on our biscuits, especially chicken biscuits. or even at chick fil-a you can get honey and its AMAZING
@@maggot6320 Yeah! My family came to the pacific northwest from the south a couple generations ago, and we still put jelly/jam/preserves on biscuits and savory items like items with chicken. I would have put the jelly on those sandwiches if it were offered to me.
We don’t really consider a croissant as a sweet, it’s just a different kind of bread. We may just have to give up with Lia and the scone vs biscuit debate. I would love to see Lia try an American scone at a coffee shop sometime. I don’t see much similarity between the scones they serve here and southern biscuits. The scones I have had are much harder, and crumbly, and they often have dried fruit in them. Also, scones in the US are served room temperature. Southern biscuits are always served hot.
I was really confused when she kept calling that biscuit a scone. I feel like I need to go to England and eat a scone, cause they're definitely not like biscuits here.
That ain’t breakfast is so true - a lot of us down here love having breakfast tacos, which I don’t think you’ve tried. If you’re going to San Antonio or anywhere in South Texas, you should do a poll for the best place to have breakfast tacos. May I suggest places like Las Palapas or Mama Margie’s or Taco Garage or TacoCabana. Bill Miller’s tacos are good, too - I consider them the bridge between McDonald’s, Jack in the Box, etc. and authentic Mexican restaurants, at least in terms of their tacos.
I love Wendys because the burgers are made from never frozen beef. You can taste the freshness. Compare that to most fast food over here that IS frozen. McDonalds is for example.
@@RMBittner Maybe. I know it hasn't always been that way. The main selling point of Wendy's has historically been that they use fresh beef shipped from farms. If McDonalds IS switching to fresh eef, then that's a good thing.
Dana says- My family and I visited the world famous Varsity (my mom used to go there when she was in college) and were expecting awesome food. I guess we came on a bad day? The lines were horrendous and so it took almost 30 minutes just to order and about that long again to get the food. I normally love greasy burgers and fries, but our food was swimming in orange grease and had very little flavor. The fries actually looked like they'd been double dipped (re-heated in the fryer), as they were translucent on the outside from grease and there was no soft potato in the middle left. We each took a few bites and couldn't stomach anymore. We're not normally picky eaters at all, but we were really disappointed. One day we will go back because I have to assume this was just a once-in-a-blue-moon horrible experience and for as long as they've been an institution, we figure they deserve another chance.
In response to you question, drive or walk, I say walk And Lia, I am so sorry that happened. I hope someone from corporate at Wendy's sees this and makes it right.
In Oregon, we would likely drive it. It's often raining here, and it's considered rude to leave you car in the parking lot of a business you're not shopping in. Sometimes, there will even be signs stating that the parking spaces in certain areas are only for a specific business.
Ok.. who mops before opening?? From my experience, most places mop as part of closing duties specifically for this reason.. that is awful. She was definitely trying to cover her butt. That wet floor sign should have been brought out WITH the mop and bucket. No excuse there. You were very kind to brush it off like that.
Lots of places that open later mop/spot clean before opening. They are supposed to leave floor signs out though, my boss would always talk about how he'd get fined when some inspectors would come in and see a wet spot with no sign when he first opened up the restaurant.
So she kept treating y’all like a baby bc they were AFRAID you were going to sue!!! #america People sue for falling in places like that all the time. They were lucky it was y’all and not someone else.
I'm so sorry you fell. I fell at a hospital and fractured my nose and I can't use my left arm so I know how you feel prayers are with you dear lady. You two are really sweet. God bless you both
Americans are lawsuit crazy and the manager of the Wendy's was freaking out when you fell. She was so happy when you weren't screaming about suing them. Wendy's is my favorite though. Stay happy healthy and safe.
@@roberthensley9359 - Here in the UK if the floor is wet and you injure yourself and there is NOT a wet floor sign, they accept liability and legal action can be taken
it is not a law but someone should have put the sign up before they started mopping. also you have to actually be injured and have physical damage to sue , of course not to say you couldn't have demanded to go to the hospital and get checked out you could have sued and probably got a small settlement. big thing I noticed they didn't have you fill out an accident report
The manager followed you into the loo to establish whether you were injured or not. The employees knew you were filming, so you'd have the fall on video. They had no signs up with a wet floor. If she can get you to say you're OK, that makes a lawsuit that much harder to win. "If there's anything I can do for you" could totally have been an offer of payment of some sort. Seriously. Sorry to be so cynical, but they're negligent for not putting up a sign if there's a wet floor.
They gave you jam? That might be a Texas thing cuz out here in California they don't offer jam with breakfast sandwiches. So sorry that you got hurt, Lia!
I lived in Arlington, TX when I first saw an HEB and thought it stood for Hurst-Euless-Bedford, which is a triangle area up north (you know...Dallas)! It was years before I found out the real meaning.
I hope you get the chance to enjoy a real Texan breakfast while you are there. Reviewing fast food places is funny and all, but no fast food can hold a candle to a truly Texan steak and eggs breakfast. I'm sure anyone from Texas could tell you a dozen must visit places.
I love the sourdough jacks, but they are soooo greasy that I always regret it afterwords! Now that you've tried most of the fast food outlets in the US, you can focus on local restaurants; so much better tasting and healthier.
Not all fast food locations are open 24 hours, it depends on where they are located. Since this store was at a shopping mall, it probably was set up for shopping hours, lunch, dinner, and late night snacking.

Sounded painful. Much respect to you both for always being so polite and positive. Safe travels 🙏
Lia is such a champ. Even when she got hurt and was crying she was still in such good spirits. 🥺
You have to buy a Frosty drink from Wendy's. It's what they are famous for.
Oh wow we had no idea what they were famous for.. just that they were famous! haha!
@@ThoseTwoBrits1 Yeah, it's a delicious chocolate milk shake they are known for. I love dipping my fries in it.
Well they're also famous for the square-shaped beef.
And dip your fries in it! Sound gross but it’s delish😉
The only thing I get at Wendy's is the Frosty. Soooo good!
You didn't have a scone. You had a biscuit
Lia is never going to give in to the American biscuit concept.... 😂😂😂
Well there is a difference in terminology. What Americans call a Biscuit, the Brits call a Scone. What the Brits call a Biscuit, Americans would call a Cookie.
See also, American French Frys = Brit "Chips" / American Chips = Brits Crisps
@@pepsiman990 -- Good Grief! How did the Brits get things so wrong?! 😎
I don’t think she was necessarily calling it a scone. She was comparing it to something that’s a little more familiar to them.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love listening to them. Feel bad for Lia though
Oh Lia, I almost cried seeing you cry! I was so relieved to see you start laughing at your bad luck immediately after your fall. You and Joel seem like family to me! I just want both of you to enjoy life, be happy and continue to make all of us so happy! Take care.
Honestly, I watch you guys after work to flush the crappiness out of my day! I enjoy your bubbly personalities. THANK YOU!
I ONLY eat at McDonald's for breakfast. Would prefer Wendy's 1000x for lunch.
It’s three years later but all our Wendy’s are open for breakfast.
If Lia is the only one to become super famous, Joel will always have employment as her translator.
I LOVELOVELOVE that you figured out exactly what the Jelly was for! putting it on your sandwich is EXACTLY what it was for.
it was unusual but not horrible!
🤢
@@ThoseTwoBrits1 My favorite for breakfast is to eat breakfast sausage with Maple Syrup. (doesn't have to be on a sandwich, even.) That is def a flavor combo you should try if you get the chance.

It wasn't paint. WTF else would it be for Rick?
The fall is Wendy’s fault. You could sue them if you’re injured
Rita Mulloy even if she wasn't injured they could
Yes and I hope you guys still contact a lawyer here in the US. Depending on when it occurred you might still be able to file a claim.
@@mattiethesurfer I think the whole "something bad happened, I'll sue you!" mentality is particularly American...
If it were freezing like here in Michigan, I would drive. Texas has no excuse lol
Haha, 39 seconds in and I'm yelling at my screen! "No, don't walk thru the drive-thru!" 😂 I guess by now you've learned that they won't serve you at the drive-thru unless you're on or in a vehicle.
They so will in some places.
Burgerville in the Pacific NW serves bikes in the drive-thru, they actually have signs warning drivers to be aware of them.
Sorry you got hurt when falling, if the wet floor signs weren’t put out and the floor was wet, they are responsible for any injuries. They should have filled out an incident report in case you needed any emergency care.
Sue Wendy's. Lol They can't damage our Legends like that!!
You have to go back and try the iconic Jack in the Box tacos.
Absolutely!!!!!
and dip them in ranch
Thank you for making all of these culinary sacrifices for the rest of us!
Lia out of camera view for 15 seconds, ends up on the floor. Poor dear 🤣😂😭
Wendys could have comp’d the bill, c’mon Wendys #freemeal.
I was thinking the same thing. The meal DEFINATELY should have been comped. Customer service just isn't what it used to be.
Mistie Medendorp Perhaps Joel and Lia thought it would’ve been to impolite to ask.
At the very least.
Totally, I couldn't believe they weren't given everything for free! It's pretty standard in a situation like that and they shouldn't face had to ask. It should have just been given.
Seeking Happy I totally agree. Hopefully Lia followed through with filing a report
"What's Sears?"
Me: lol, a company that's literally going out of business. They pioneered the catalog shopping craze in the early/mid 20th century, successfully made the switch to department store, but have failed to transition to the e-commerce era.
Yea sears was your one too go to for everything quality American needs. Now it'd Walmart
Libby I had that back in ‘16 when me and my family were visiting friends in Texas. The dish you mentioned was really delicious.

You two are beautiful INSIDE & out. You bring me tons of laughter and joy! Keep it up, stay encouraged. You're in my prayers🤗
Lia, I would've understood you the first time when you asked for a "bottle of water."😃😊
You missed out on a chocolate frostie and fries while at Wendy’s. Its a bomb a** snack.

I feel like I just lived vicariously through Lia, having the good cry we all need.
I once walked to a fast food drive-thru and asked if I could get my order "to go." The look on the cashier's face was worth it. LOL
I keep wondering this... I'm very surprised they weren't at Whataburger or a taqueria.
The reason the manager was all over that fall is because you could sue their pants off if they didn’t have a wet floor sign up.
definitely!
@Joel & Lia, that was the same thought I had. The manager just didn’t want you to sue them for the slip and fall.
Gosh, don't anyone believe in nice empathetic people anymore?
@SueBee S, I’d love to give the manager the benefit of the doubt... but following someone into the restroom after that fall? Suspicious.
Period.

Also yeah, they were definitely trying to keep you from contacting corporate or filing a suit for not having a wet floor sign up.
Wendy's is trying to avoid a law suit. America was built on lawsuits and falling in a restaurant is big money lol
Mango L Yeah I'd sue them to high heaven!
Roxanne Eberle well, I think Lia had plenty of evidence, on camera for a start!!
Sadly, there are a LOT of Americans who feel this way.....always trying to get something for free.
liper13 I'd take advantage of American culture for sure, as a visitor to the country who got hurt!
"It's so wrong, it's right." Love it! They just offer you the jam/jelly, in case you want it. Definitely not the norm on savory item, but whatever floats your boat. So sorry Lia slipped and fell.
I worked fast food for 13 years and yes eating jam or jelly on bfast sandwiches def is very normal .Grape jam on a sausage biscuit is my favorite
I’m so sorry that you fell, dear Lia.
I hope you took Advil right away and soaked in a hot bubble bath later.
I can't believe you think biscuits taste like scones! I guess British scones taste different from American scones.
Yes, I think that every time Lia mentions a scone! I wonder what they would call what Americans call scones? Whatever it is, I'm really dying to try clotted cream now! It sounds so yummy, lol!
American scones tend to be denser and less flaky from European scones
@Falkrim it is AMAZING
Omg. When Lia fell at Wendy's the first thing I thought was, "Oh shoot.. Law suit! Lia just got herself a boat load of money." The manager needed to make sure you didn't do that.
Thanks for you videos, you guys are fun.

This might gross a lot of people out, but instead of jelly I would always put ketchup on that kind of breakfast sandwich because it is so much like a cheeseburger. I've never think of putting jelly or jam on it... But I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)
That sounds right.

You need to come out to San Diego, CA, and try the Jack-In-The-Boxes in the city where they were invented.
Scones in UK are round shape and look like the biscuit. In the US they tend to make scones triangular shaped.
POOR LIA!! Cryin is ok! Hugging is good too. BTW.... That isn’t breakfast.
❤️
That ain’t breakfast is so true - a lot of us down here love having breakfast tacos, which I don’t think you’ve tried. If you’re going to San Antonio or anywhere in South Texas, you should do a poll for the best place to have breakfast tacos. May I suggest places like Las Palapas or Mama Margie’s or Taco Garage or TacoCabana. Bill Miller’s tacos are good, too - I consider them the bridge between McDonald’s, Jack in the Box, etc. and authentic Mexican restaurants, at least in terms of their tacos.
I've seen people whatever they want for breakfast, and the have bona fide breakfast in the evenings. Go figure!
Spiffyspit s oh I love breakfast for dinner. But not dinner for breakfast! That would be sacrosanct! Haha

I love Wendys because the burgers are made from never frozen beef. You can taste the freshness. Compare that to most fast food over here that IS frozen. McDonalds is for example.
Yes... perfect comment
Chris Bowman In many, if not all, parts of the US, McDonalds has switched to fresh beef...although maybe that’s just a temporary test.
@@RMBittner Maybe. I know it hasn't always been that way. The main selling point of Wendy's has historically been that they use fresh beef shipped from farms. If McDonalds IS switching to fresh eef, then that's a good thing.

“What’ll ya have, what’ll ya have, what’ll ya have!”
OMG. Lived in Atlanta for 4 years - so many great places!
In response to you question, drive or walk, I say walk
And Lia, I am so sorry that happened.
Loving the jelly mix. But the way you tear the packets down the middle and not the corner would drive me crazy. Lol

Ok.. who mops before opening?? From my experience, most places mop as part of closing duties specifically for this reason.. that is awful. She was definitely trying to cover her butt. That wet floor sign should have been brought out WITH the mop and bucket. No excuse there. You were very kind to brush it off like that.
I suspect the closing crew left a mess, hence the late opening and wet floors. No excuse!

@@AdcrofromTikTok Same here in the US. A slip & fall can lead to a hefty payout for the injured party.
it is not a law but someone should have put the sign up before they started mopping. also you have to actually be injured and have physical damage to sue , of course not to say you couldn't have demanded to go to the hospital and get checked out you could have sued and probably got a small settlement. big thing I noticed they didn't have you fill out an accident report
I'll bet those Wendy's employees were shitting bricks after Lia fell and they realized she was recorded on video on the floor.

I love you guys. The grocery store you mentioned as "Heb" is actually pronounced H E. B. which stands for the owner's initials for Howard E Butt.
Thanks for that explanation. Had no idea what that was!!
I lived in Arlington, TX when I first saw an HEB and thought it stood for Hurst-Euless-Bedford, which is a triangle area up north (you know...Dallas)! It was years before I found out the real meaning.
So ..they would have been going to the Butt store .
Try explaining that to your friends back home , Joel & Lia.
I hope you get the chance to enjoy a real Texan breakfast while you are there. Reviewing fast food places is funny and all, but no fast food can hold a candle to a truly Texan steak and eggs breakfast. I'm sure anyone from Texas could tell you a dozen must visit places.
Yeah, a proper one-off local American diner is what they needed. Not sure they ever tried one of those, in Texas or New Jersey when they were there.
