  • In this video I continue showing the russian alphabet, this time the new letters.
    Vowels:
    Э
    И
    Я
    Ю
    Ы
    Ё
    Й
    Letters for combination sounds:
    Ч - ch
    Ш - sh
    Щ - sh (stronger)
    Ж - zh
    Ц - ts
    Consonants:
    Ф - f
    Г = g
    З = z
    П = p
    Д = d
    Л = L
    Б = b

    The reason for the "Greek I" name is because that sound of "y" is represented by "Y" in many languages, and that letter isn't from the latin alphabet, is the ypsilon from the Greek alphabet.
    We also call Y "Greek I" in Spanish (I griega), at least in Spain.

      You can learn all the details if you want. What I mean is that you shouldn't try to be perfect at the start. If I still find it difficult to hear the difference between ш and щ, I don't see how a beginner could.
