Layne and Geoff have "traditionally" arranged the various pieces, but Eli is starting to get involved as well - this was his second recent arrangement, following up on their cover of Radiohead's Creep. The arranger of the song is usually completely responsible for the project, including concept, musical arrangement, direction of the video and initial track mix, and Eli (with Layne) did a great job on this piece.
Yes, Anthony does kill it. 😊 He also joins them for Seven National Army and Creep. If y’all haven’t seen those yet, they’re both well worth a listen. That kid has an insane gift for runs and high notes.
I always enjoy your reactions to Voiceplay and Geoff. I am subscribed to John Reaves as well as your channel because you found them. Cesar frequently gives us a cheeky side eye glance; his personality drips off of him when he's performing. Geoff's solo basement notes were amazing, but I love the second "softer" tone. Eli is so multi-talented, it leaves me speechless. I've been watching Anthony gar-JOO-luh in his TH-cam shorts for a long time his voice is really powerful. I think Layne may have been the MVP here, the beatboxing took my breath away. Eli arranged their version of Eleanor Rigby shortly after Earl (high tenor) left in 2020. No featured artist just Geoff, Layne, Eli, and J None. It was a very emotional recording.
Thanks for your reaction! You are right that Geoff or Layne usually do their arrangements and editing but this one was different as it was pretty much all Eli - arrangement, editing, lighting and technical effects. Yes love Cesar and know you are very proud of him but Cesar is one that works so hard giving so much of his time and effort into so many local theater and musical projects.
Thank you - just catching up to comments now and had no idea Eli did the arrangement. Very impressed!! And yes, Cesar pours his heart into every project he does :)
Please continue to react and comment on VoicePlay and Geoff's solos because I thoroughly enjoy what you do. If you haven't done either of the following, consider them? Both show off Cesar - I Can't Make You Love Me (one of the first songs he suggested VoicePlay do - a Bonnie Raitt) and then there is We're Good which sealed VoicePlay's choice of Cesar as permanent member, originally by Dua Lipa
Another difference between Voiceplay and ptx is that Voiceplay is independent and ptx has a record label. So Voiceplay can pretty much do it anyway they want. Geoff said that he first thing he does is go through all the covers everyone else has done and see if he can make it any different than those. If not they do a different song. If so then the next step he writes the lyrics down on paper and decides where to make changes and add changes. But keeping with the original music. After that is done he decides who sings what. Then he records each person's part as demos and sends them to each person. The person records their part with any notes they might have. This goes on back and forth until all parts are perfect. He then edits the parts together and sends them to the others for feedback. When all right there then it's sent off to Ed Boyer for audio mixing. When that comes back they film the video until it's perfect. Then back to Ed. Then on to the patreons before going to the public. This whole process surprisingly takes only a month or so. Oh the power of the Internet 😁
And the latest entry in the list of "Songs You Didn't Know You NEEDED to Hear Done a Capella." I'm not sure how they do it, but they always make it work so much better than you even expect them to.
There's an interview on the charismatic voice where Elizabeth interviews Layne about how he arranges the pieces. There are reactions on mortius' channel where Cesar breaks down Dream On. Interesting fact Layne actually arranged home free's the butts medley. I don't know if you've ever checked out the bass gang. They are another acapella group. All four are located in different regions Peter barber, who also has a reaction channel, and Bobby bass are in the us. Marwan is in egypt. And Tomie is somewhere in Europe like around the Ukraine that kind of area. He does a breakdown with mortius for their cover of Mad World. Marwen does a breakdown of centuries. And Peter does a breakdown of If I Had a Heart which is actually his arrangement. They are group well worth getting into
The two of you together are a great combination. I'm so happy to see this VoicePlay cover receiving some appreciation. Unlike the big two acapella groups, they seem to be overlooked. I suppose partly because they are independent and tackle some non mainstream stuff. There always seems to be an underlying joy about creating music with them.
I'd love to see you react to more of Geoff Castellucci's solo work. Sixteen Tons has some great low notes, and his arrangement of The Sound of Silence is creative and unique. Give them a try!
It took me several times listening to this one through reactors’ ears to truly appreciate their take. I had forgotten that I knew this one from Soundgarden, and liked it when I was younger.
Voiceplay never disappoints! And how nice to see Mr. Reeves here! Love a man who can rock a beanie! Great reaction, guys! Oh, and I have a theory that Geoff has inspired more facial expressions than any other singer out there!💙
Fun fact: in one of his interviews, Geoff said that when he was younger he aspired to be the next Chris Cornell. But then…puberty😂. But he hits one of his his highest notes In their mini of Peaches. (He’s also a big fan of Jack Black). It’s pretty amazing🎵🎵🎵 Be sure to watch out for the one that should be dropping I guess next week. I was hoping it would be this Friday. Layne once again went crazy giving his own interpretation of classical masterpieces. If you haven’t watched their insane Hall of the Mountain King, do so before watching the new one because it’s sort of a sequel.
I subscribe to Both of your wonderful channels! This is a fun collab! ( I mostly follow Pentatonix on your channels among other artists) I try to expand my music appreciation and knowledge by listening to my fav reactors react to something different. This was interesting and I totally respect their musical talent and the song was cool. It won’t be added to my day to day play list, but it was fun watching both of you discuss the song. 😎
Anthony's last name is pronounced "Gar-jew-la". He KILLS it here! They all do. I love them. How cool that you have taught/worked with Cesar!!! I think the only thing that bugs me is that Cesar didn't enunciate the k in snake! But that's a really piddly gripe! I LOVE his tone. I think he's so underrated sometimes, he is so good. I also LOVE Eli, so much power! Of course Geoff is Geoff and I'm just trying not to be in love with him for real lol. He's the age of my middle son so it's just creepy of me! But seriously, how can you not love every single one of these guys?! I have to keep thinking of them as kids I could adopt! LOL I think they're all genius!!!
Anthony Gar - jewl'- la. Beautiful kitty. VoicePlay does all the theatrical stuff because they want folks to go to the reactors. Just so you know, you don't need the transparency.
freakin loved that a super lot. gold tier sonic material. Tthey ottheyr day I came across a new song called DAMAGED by October Ends, they is gonna blow up soon. React to it ASAP 🔥
@@throga I saw, the other part of the comment didn't post, I ment you need to do Mulan or amazing grace. (Amazing grace shows his insane breath control)
I think Richard and Eli look alike, cool.🫵🤷♀️You do good Analysis and you understand what you mean. Geoff is my absolute No.1 and then comes Eli and Layne.❤ But all are good!! ❤👍👍

Eli arranged this one and did the set and lighting. He's just amazing 👏 I love this one 😍
He did awesome!!!

Thanks for all of your work on our behalf, Richard! Cesar is one of my favorites now (Voiceplay too).

Anthony has is own channel. He is known for his vocal runs
We need more voiceplay and geoff!!

Great arrangement guys!😮and Geoff , that low range😮😮 yes I’m obsessed ya’ll!❤
Aha, Richard has a different John. I've been a fan of John Reaves, since he discovered Pentatonix. Thanks for the analysis guys!
Anthony guested on seven nation army for them
You need to listen to their cover of the Beatles Eleanor Rigby. It has a bach style cadence in the beginning and I believe Eli arranged that one.

My favorite group! ❤❤❤
Love VP! Love your reactions! Love the 2 of you working together!💜💜💜
They are incredible!!
Cesars tone is just from another world!

Thank you Richard for putting this back up. Any idea on if you will be able to get the Zhou Shen reaction fixed.

if you haven't seen the chris cornell cover of nothing compares 2u, please add that to the reaction list. :)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'd love to have you react to some Home Free also!
You mentioned Geoff's bass, but not much about his incredible range. 4+ octaves
We've discussed Geoff's full range a few times on the channel - he's amazing!
❤

Did you hear the Growl?
Regardez Emma cok avec Voilà
