Analog is wrongly programmed. Analog can have better range than digital. But for untrained ears, when analog gets a lower s/n on larger distances, digital will sound better. But all these tests never really show what happens when there is also other radio traffic on the channels, it also ignores possible multi-path decoding problems with digital, it ignores the delay with digital that can annoy a lot and in this test the positions of the 2 radios with this critical large distance were not the same ! See the analog left probably with his head in the way causing maybe ven some 8-10dB more pathloss, and the digital one is held in his left hand. We have no idea about the left/right difference nor don't we know how the radio have been programmed.

How can i progranm analog to get better results? I now have the Kenwood TK 3401D (same as in this test). I do have the programming software.

These are Pmr/dpmr so we aren't allowed to program,change attena's or use more power than 0,5w

You're not correct about it being wrongly programmed. There is nothing you can change in programming to increase the range for PMR446. It is a problem that he held the digital radio in the other hand though. That makes the test basically invalid.
