@@josephKEOarthur Makpac is roughly a 25 years old technology. MakTrak, shown here in video, has IP65 rated seals. You can take a look on actual photos. About the IP65, this information i got from home depot website.
I've been saying the same thing! It would be much more interesting if Makita had decided to come out with a 3 drawer box system as the main configuration. Have the bottom box be a single drawer like what Milwaukee is coming out with soon for bigger tools and the 2nd and 3rd boxes above be 2 and 3 drawers.
The reason most other storage box brands go vertical is because it’ll allow you to fit more storage in a small footprint. I am also not a big fan of my tool box having to be tipped on edge to roll and everything sliding to the end. I love Makita tools and have 30k+ invested in their tools. That said they have fallen 5-10 years behind Milwaukee and other brands in their tool storage system, battery technology and tool options
100% agree. I’m a die hard Makita fan and I’m heavily invested. I’m not really stoked on this storage system. I want a kit not made for someone who has to rollout 2 times a day and who does so out of a truck. Need on the job vertical system for ongoing job sites and van racks
This is a great summary of the functionality and innovation of these toolboxes. Outstanding job in presenting the info. As a Makita tool fan & owner this entire system looks very appealing.
What about getting long tools to site, levels, brooms, conduit benders? The good thing about going high is you can use the boxes as a work station. No drawers on release? At least toughbuilt released a drawer box on earlier release.
ya stack tech woulda been my pick if at least half their line up was actually real or available. but teasing that advanced transporter for over two years now?.. ima ridged guy but stacktech wins if they ever release that loading system.. i would drop $1k on that dang thing alone. they spent all of their money on prototypes and marketing images that they cant afford to actually produce lol.
i have all makita power tools, currently all my tools are in packout drawers stacked on dollys. i really want to switch to makita storage system but there is no way in hell i will be buying this system unless they come out with drawers. i dont want to lay my case over every time i want to use it i want to stack my drawers on top of each other and roll them around.
@@cyberstick2 Still doesn't make sense though. Seems easier to have the standard vertical boxes and to put them in your truck separately that will be lighter to lift than trying to lift Makita's Maktrak full of tools all in one go.
This has potential if you would look on this system like an ecosystem. Make a partnership with Prusa research and share STL files for the boxes, so 3d community can create mini boxes and they can be 3d printed. This will be the killer application.
This kit is for guys who rollout everyday back into a truck. A lot of us in Res keep our tools either onsite or in a van/trailer. Imagine a tradie owning 20 boxes or more in their rig on a wall. I want those festool style slider shelves for each box. No way am I going to have a tower of boxes locked to each other in my van or in cubbies. My suggestion is to make a modular system for transporting where each individual box can have access to the contents
So how does this system work in a van for transporting? There’s no way of incorporating it into shelving at all. Just lay it on the floor of the van? I have Makita tools, but will stick with packout drawers .
I am already sold but put wheels and a vertical handle on the deep storage box while keeping the cleat, make drawers models and lights/chargers/radio units on the next releases 🙏
I, for one, am super excited. Ive needed setups for my larger tools for awhile, and packout hasnt been cutting it. My rolling toolbox holds all my extra chargers and i only have low profile organizers otherwise. This system looks incredible though! I wish i could trade in my Milwaukee stuff. Any chance there will be wall plates in the future?

I hope they will be in europe as soon as possible. Makpacs are not bad, but they are outdated. Just bought 2 packout organizers, they are a dissapoitment in some ways, glad i see some of the things i dont like about packout organizers solved on MakTrak. AND we want DRAWERS! :D Also it would be a good idea to have the drawers IP65 rated. I hope that someone from makita will read these comments, to make the Maktrak better than packout. There are a lot of things i dont like about packout, that could be solved on Maktrak. I really would like to see drawers with IP65, organizer with clear lid and 12 cups of the same size, some dolly to move it vertically and inserts for tools (something like we can get for makpac, best option would be a precut foam). Keep up the good work Makita! :)

They're not thinking. Seems like they just wanted to make the modular tool boxes like everyone else and Makita refuses to listen or take any input from what their customers want. Most of my tools are Makita and this system is a big let down in my eyes, Klein Tools and Toughbuilt would be my choice of tool storage over these.
I am a tool junkie, I own mostly Packout stuff but also Flex Stackpack. Which is beautiful toolboxes too. But then Makita cones along and reinvents the game again. This will cost me more money hahaha.

Klein have a nice system out right now, they have nice deep rolling drawer boxes that work as the base unit. Looks like people would get a hernia trying to cart this system around when it's full of tools. I'm not impressed with this at all. Makita had plenty of time to get input from their customers on what they wanted in tool storage but they refuse to listen to what we want
It’s definitely more intuitive than I thought. I was concerned about it not having drawers. Accessibility to the boxes at the bottom is made easier because the top boxes are for lighter stuff. Knowing Makita the price will be high lol

How about a “Trade In Program” to help Loyal Makita Customers make the switch?
Yeah I use Festool systainers but it's a huge fail for this not to be Packout compatible in my opinion. They'd sell 10x more of these if they were Packout compatible in some way
I like Makita, they are my power tool brand of choice, and if this was 5 years ago I probably would have gone with this system. However, Makita was waaaay late to the game, and most people have already settled on a system. The best thing Makita can do is to target people entering the market, but they really missed that first push. Their hearts just don’t seem into storage, either. Almost like it is an obligation to them.
Little too late. I went all in festool. TRY A MAKITA Latch.. really just try it without vasoline, machine sanding down the latch holds, try dropping the brittle Makita MacPack boxes. - they will break.

Will it pull up stairs, that's gonna be heavy with tools in, as let's face it we will overload each box rather than having more boxes, seems set up for u.s market rather than U.K , like the charger battery tray, I converted a mac pac too hold my batteries and chargers, I like the mac pac sack barrow as once I got my tools in I can use it for moving cabinets about and other materials..

finally, took long enough. having both dewalt and makita, makita tools are great, quality control and reliability is way better than dewalt. but their speed of innovation is definitely slower. i don't mind taking time to get things done right but having those older, paper-thin, useless makita tool boxes for this long is pretty bad
I own only XGT tools but this doesnt come close to packout or toughbuilts depth of range, drawers or whole transport platforms. I havent bought any system yet and at this rate it will probably be toughbuilt.... Do they not ask tradies what they want or what??

(I still keep my 18v. 5amp tools totally that are Makita) but i wont by buying any more Makita tools any longer since makita dont make a USA Table Saw (i still have my old Makita Table Saw - both of them)
Disagree, sure everyone has their own version of PackOut now but this has distinct advantages over pretty much every other competitor. Better than rushing out a boring copy
Looking at the huge quantities of Packout that are stocked in every Home Depot I’ve seen, it’s clear that lots of people are buying Packout every day. I can’t imagine all of them are expanding an existing system and will be unwilling to switch to Makita. I’ve got a few bins each of lots of different systems - Packout, Ridgid, old Makita, mini Systainer, DeWalt. I got different ones for different uses. I really like this one. The sizes of the boxes look better than the other ones. I don’t think it will replace my mini Systainers because they are very light. But I can see it replacing everything else because it seems like they have some good intermediate sizes. I don’t like massive, or tiny, containers.
Look at Qbrick System from Poland you got everything you wants: small, medium, large systems with drawners etc. And they are few yearas on market so for example carts are on version 2 with all improvments.
This product of Makita is to give a version answer to all combination tool boxes. Tell them that the design idea of your things is wrong from the beginning, I will teach you how to make boxes.

There’s issues with patents. And not everyone wants packout. I ditched Packout because it becomes a PITA with age, isn’t a good design for all weather exposure, and I’ve had the boxes fall apart a few times.
These need to be sold at “Big Box Retail Stores”

Spray your Makpak and Gen1 Systainer latches with Armorall, they'll loosen right up.

@@peterryan7340 no bend with YOUR knees.. lol ill let you put you back and knees to the extra work 40 hrs a week for 5+ years.. no tradesmen can legitimately consider this a real option. we already come home beat to dust without our tools working against us.
It is so crazy that you guys have all of your competitors boxes yet yours is mediocre at best.
Something I’ve learned after jumping between Ridgid, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Flex, and Toughbuilt, is that they’re all mediocre.
Companies need to stop with the incompatible toolbox systems. You'd sell way more of these if Packout owners could use them for example.
There’s issues with patents.
And not everyone wants packout. I ditched Packout because it becomes a PITA with age, isn’t a good design for all weather exposure, and I’ve had the boxes fall apart a few times.
Again useless for many trades in Germany :D too Big for Scaffolding and not practical moving it up stairs :/
