Got it 15 years ago as a teenager. Dislocation around once every half year because of basketball. It got bad to the point that it happened during swimming contests. Zero dislocation afterwards, but it started feeling some discomfort. Seems that the Vastus medialis is weak again and over reliant on surgical fix. Keep your therapy up! :)

I play a high level of football or soccer and I don’t want to give up as it is my favourite thing to do. I think I may have to undergo surgery as I don’t want it to reoccur. I started dislocating my knee from the age of 16.
Now being 22 I already did drill my cartilage and obviously because of my profession which is dancing, I was able to dance for around 3 months till I dislocated it again. In total I have dislocated around 6 times and the pain was always there and the blockage. So now I will have a complete stabilisation of the patella, because if I want to dance with freedom and not worry of having any further damage, I have to do it.

I suffered from this at 18 (36 now). My right knee would dislocate a lot. Very horrible. I had corrective surgery and even though it never dislocated I had preventative surgery on my left knee 18 months later.
Ironically pain never went away and I discovered only 6 years or so ago that I had fibromyalgia, so while I don’t get any dislocations anymore, I cannot walk properly, have to use walking sticks and a wheelchair and am in extreme pain but I would still take this over dislocations. My knee would swell with blood.
I’m an exception though, no one knew I had fibromyalgia from a early age so it was not foreseen as an issue to have the surgery.

@@Ava-knightsjust to say though, my issue with my knees was different to most peoples. I couldn’t walk until I was 3 years old, so I was crawling everywhere. This made it so the muscles of my knees didn’t form properly meaning the muscle was too strong one side and too weak the other. My surgery corrected this by cutting the muscle on the strong side and stitching it tighter on the weak side. The fear is now though, if my knees ever dislocate again, that’s it. I’ll never walk again as it will tear my muscles to pieces in my knees.
