I watch one or more of your videos each day, and have a go at copying your sketches. Although I’d like to comment positively on all your videos, however that would take too long: nevertheless a couple things set in my mind each time as learning points, which you nearly always mention. 1. Observe First 2. Get relative proportions (with dots), draw what you ACTUALLY see, not what we “think” 3. Three tones to create depth 4. Don’t worry about making mistakes. 5. Create THE EFFECT letting the viewer fill in the gaps. I also love the way you often do a number of lines close to the one you’ve just drawn….. it somehow makes it come alive in detail. (Thanks so much for the effort you put into videos, & explaining what you are thinking) you are a superb artist and teacher!. (Am I doing well as a 79 year old man, and a Travers student???) LOL 😊
I’ve always been into realism and it’s all I’ve ever known, I’ve always been quite horrible at quick sketches mainly because of perfection. This helps so much, I never actually thought of using markers to enhance depth and value. This was what I needed thank you 🙏🙏
This is great @StephenTraversArt that you switched to sketching ! Now I get to learn from a real teacher. A video on Plein air sketching would be helpful. 😊
I'm a daily student, too. Your markers don't blob on the paper. They seem easy to apply as gray washes. How do you do it? 64 and inspired! Weak on the computer. I want to send you money gift of appreciation. Mail, is it possible?
My paper is 210 gsm drawing cartridge. So it’s quite thick and quite smooth. But if I hold the pen in the one spot it will bleed a bit. Need fairly brisk strokes to avoid it. That’s very kind. Perhaps you could use the TH-cam SuperThanks feature. Why not google a TH-cam video on it. ? All the best with your drawing. 😀

Thanks for telling me. I’m so glad you’ve had this benefit from the video. 😀
thanks for sharing the tips.
My pleasure Ricardo. 😀
Very nice guide and explanation of your thought process 🤘👍
Thank you 😀
Thanks for challenging us, and even beginners, to sketch in 10 minutes. The results are great.
Sometimes it can even take pressure off us as we draw fast. 😀
🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️ so beautiful!
Thanks!
Thanks for the 1:1 painting ...so I learn best perspective...
Great, YAou are a great artist and a great master.Thank you very much.
That's very kind of you

Thanks for that. Videoing plein air is much more complicated 😩
This is a super helpful tutorial! Love how you talk through it. I did want to share that the shaking camera makes me nauseous but maybe thsts just me!
Thank you. I'm trying to improve on that
wonderful, thank you!
Thanks Beth. Appreciate that. 😀
Brilliant, Stephen. So much info in an easily usable form. Thank you.
Great to hear Greg. Thanks 😀
Your channel has been a great help to my drawing confidence.
That’s great to hear David. Thanks for telling me. 😀
excellent ❤
Thanks 😀
Good one young man thanks
My pleasure Darran😀
Excellent advice. Speed is the number one issue I struggle with :-D
Too fast or too slow?😀
@@stephentraversart I work too slowly. I tend toward obsessive perfectionism, and have been working at loosening my style.
Thanks
😀Much appreciated David.
Great video! may i know what pen are you using?
COPIC MULTILINERS. 😀
10 minutes eh ?… I would have had to take a photo and draw it on the bus.😂
Haha. 😀
I could sit beside you and ask questions about what we remembered seeing. 😂
i dislocated a finger on my drawing hand so I'm using my left. I make plenty mistakes but putting you on half speed does the trick
Glad you can make it work still Brad. Fast finger healing for you!😀
Hey Brad! The good news is…(they say) you will strengthen your brain and it’s neural pathways by using your nondominant hand!
As always brillant tips 🎉

What type of marker do you use for the toned?
Copic markers is what he was saying. Its good to have the right paper with them since they are alcohol based & will bleed on thinner paper.
