- Here is my review of the new T-Mobile Home Internet 5G Gateway. T-Mobile utilizes a wireless 5G Gateway to deliver 5G Home Internet to your home.
T-Mobile's 5G Gateway Device works in tandem with Wi-Fi 6, which is the next generation of Wi-Fi technology. Once you sign up for a plan, the 5G Gateway is delivered to your home. No complicated installation. Just a plug. No cable guys required. It's operated via an app you can download to your phone or computer. Once you download the app, you just scan a barcode on your 5G Gateway, find a good spot in the room for it, and get connected in minutes. $60 month with Autopay

I have the black unit and it has exceptionally good service. It can connect to 65 devices. I get no pings and no down service except maybe during a severe weather storm.
Just ordered this and saw the receipt it’s a white gateway like this. Very excited to use this for my HomePods and my side kf the house. My roomate the wifi router in the basement. When I moved in she using the wifi she complained that the wifi was slow. Not gonna hire an isp to install in a house I am renting a room in. Easy installation from tmobile and it’s just for me and my devices.
I was able to take the router with me to a hotel I was staying at, and it worked like a charm, better than at my house. I am planning on taking it with me when I go camping. I heard you are not supposed to do that, but in my case , it worked. I got the business account , maybe thats why.
That’s exactly why.
Yes and the business Internet you can use all the data you want and you get priority and they don't slow you down like the home internet during demand times. I use it for my business and yes sometime take it with me too. but i also have a hotspot that is truly unlimited also. Just a side note my Daughter racks up like a billion tera just playing her games and yet to see them cut me to a slower speed. I do have Service channel crap also (Cable internet) but highly unreliable. but that is for my servers . and this is also used as a backup if it goes down.
two days in.. it's gr8 for someone who doesn't game or use their pc for school work & just like have one or two phones connected & maybe a light laptop. compared to verizon's 9ms, i'm averaging anywhere from 30-75ms. not terrible, just can't compete.
I just got mine today
I received my 2 days ago
Well that was nice. Thank you.
I got it yesterday, and can not get it to connect to any of my devices except my phone. So not real happy.
I game it only gets 3 bars for me but disconnects here and there I hope it will get better...
The price sent me away before but I might end up with them again sucks
Thanks for the review. How does tmobile 5g internet service compare to Verizon fios service?
If you're eligible for Unlimited service it works just as good as fios. You have to try it out and see for yourself. It really depends on where you live.
@@GillisDaKid Great advice! Thanks for the response!
FiOS is 10x betters plus no nat issue for gaming
I have had 2 of these. When they work they are good. Mine crashes at least once a day (usually more) and requires me to power cycle it in order to restore service. I thought it was a bad unit so I had it replaced. New one does the same thing. It drops all wifi connections and then becomes completely unresponsive, does not react to button clicks etc. I requested a different kind of hardware and TM is telling me it will cost another $15/mo for the improved HW. I am like, just send me something that doesn't crash for the price we agreed to. Not happy.
does this one have where you can have Port Forwarding? i play on my switch daily and i have a problem with the old and there is no port forwarding on it
does this one fix it?
I don't think so but T-Mobile will let you try it out.
No port forwarding with their standard Home Internet. If you sign up for a business plan, you can pay a few $ extra for a static IP and then you can do some forwarding, but the pricing structure is different. The business service uses different hardware.
I have this exact internet service, never a problem with signal and always reliable, very fast downloading. Good for me.
I have seen this same gateway showing 5gUC but not thos one... Mine is always on weak but I get 300mbps more than enough for me.. but I have never seen the UC icon
. How can you update it?
It updates through the network.
I got the service about 6 months ago. Is this gateway any better than the previous models?
The new white gateways has the ability to connect a antenna on it. I know people who have the old Grey cylinder models, and their network speeds are great. If it's working don't bother switching.
@@GillisDaKidYeah mines works fine. Good looking out bro.
It's worse. The upload speed is less. Tested the old and new side by side.
I wanted to place a line rank but T-Mobile doesn't offer this anymore. Is there another device that I can connect to this so I can get a landline phone?
Ooma T-Mobile Home Phone device.
Do you have to pay a monthly fee just for the device itself?
You just pay for the plan and that's it. No rental fees.
Just signed up and if you already have a T-Mobile cell plan it can be *very* affordable. I'm getting 3X the speeds at half the price of my wired internet in Chicago. *NOTE* I was able to get a better rate and $ back by signing up through Costco.
@@Charles78 I signed up as well but just through the t-mobile app (I already have a phone plan) I had AT&T and now I’m getting speeds 40x faster and $30 cheaper.
when you purchased the home Internet you just need to pay the device connection charge and if you receive the device the regular price is running 55 0r 60 dollars but some got promotions depend on the status of their account.... i am. currently working t-mobile customer care❤
No just the service fee
Have same one i max out 300mbps download and 3mbps upload i have my router in the window 4 bars i have my xbox hooked up to it wired
Nice I have to hard wire my Xbox and PS5 too. Let me know how you do that.
My speeds i max 300mbps download and upload either 1mbps or 3mbps upload my area not good with Upload i did replace my old ethernet csbles for Cat5e @@GillisDaKid
Does it work good hooked up hardwired to the Xbox
@@caseygeter2359 I just tested it hardwired to my computer and gaming consoles, and it works like a charm! Excellent performance 🙌🏾
@GillisDaKid my Xbox is Wired with Cat5e cables goes to network switch to the modem
The older black units are better. Have both side by side and the download is slightly slower with the white unit. Upload speed is 5 times less than the black unit. Seems like a downgrade on T-Mobile's part for these "newer" units.
Where do buy the antenna ?
Call T-Mobile they will ship it to you.
You cannot connect to a VPN or the connection shut down after few minutes...
Very frustrated. I had to return because neither me or my wife were able to connect at our offices...
The rest were fantastic, speed, Streaming, price, etc
I've had T-mo HINT for 2+ years and I have had no issues using VPN for my work it stays connected all day. I've also used AirVPN for my torrent client and it has run for months with no connection issues.
I use a VPN frequently with no problems.
I can not get my printer to work with the gateway 5 g , been working for a month, can anyone help me ?
1 Power off the T-Mobile gateway
AND your printer.
2 Power up the T-Mobile gateway and wait for it to finish.
3 When the T-Mobile gateway is done powering up - Power up your printer.
4 Printer should reconnect.
5 If not, T-mobile support is excellent.
Can you take this over to another house?
Yes, if service is available at that address. You just have to provide T-Mobile the address before moving it. It's not meant to take with you everywhere though.
I took it to another County plugged it in and it worked
This 5G gateway tmoblie white sucks I can't even connect to my roku tv
I hear that. Me either
I wasted hours trying to get the router working they tried to blame it on my new Panasonic TV stay away from T Mobile
it SUCK
Stay away from this crappy service. Average ping is 5 to 10 times longer than its wired competitors. 5G service is throttled to a max of 300 while a modern cell phone at the same location is double to triple this device. Also congestion is a significant issue when T-Mobile over sells it’s network capacity. And when you call and complain T-Mobile’s response is well this isn’t for everyone. Best advice is buyer beware because T-Mobile’s customer service is pathetic at best.
I've been a customer for over 2 years. There is no cap at 300Mbps. I have had a max DL speed of 514Mbps back in January. My average over more than 50 Speedtests in the last year is somewhere 350Mbps range. Some days it is slower, some faster. Yes, a handset in the same location is faster, but they use newer modems that can do more band aggregation. Ping issues can be solved by implementing SQM features in your router. I always recommend running an external router with this service. It takes the load off the unit and it runs significantly faster.
Are you a cox cable employee?😅
@@ROBERTMILES55 Firetruck (you can figure out which letter to remove) you. Wait until you have a problem and you will discover how crappy T-Mobile is. BTW they also are good at disconnecting your service and still billing you for it.
it depends on your location
After two of those gateways and weeks of constant resets and "tower issues", a friend found the B9B1 gateway and we traded for the third time.
Haven't had any issues in two weeks!
Tech support should know?
