If it’s candy it’s fine but it usually not my favorite. I do agree that they don’t taste that the real thing
I know tons of people have probably already said it but I figured ill join in. Artifical banana flavoring is a REAL banana flavor my man. It's called the Gros Michel and was the main banana harvested until it was nearly wiped out by a fungal disease back in the 20th century. The Cavendish is what we use now because it is resistant to that disease. The flavor profile if Cavendish is complex and difficult to replicate, which is why Gras Michel is still used.

Fun fact: The artificial banana flavor is actually pretty close to what bananas *used* to taste like. The most common banana for a while was called a Gros Michel, and they are what the artificial flavor is based on. Unfortunately, the Gros Michel was basically wiped out by a fungus and is now only grown by small-scale local farmers.

isoamyl acetate(banana flavoring) -is- found in bananas, but not nearly as much in the ones that we eat nowadays. There was, however, lots of isoamyl acetate in the Gros Michel banana(and thus tasted a lot more akin to banana candies). The Gros michel was -the- banana back in the day, it was the most popular banana variety in the mid 1800s, when bananas started getting introduced to much of the US. The banana we eat nowadays in the Cavendish, which is hardier than Gros Michel and more Fusarium resistant, but they also don't taste nearly as banana-y as the Gros Michel. So when you eat banana flavored things, you aren't eating modern bananas, but rather the bananas of times past, i think its pretty cool and its why banana is one of my favorite flavors, it has a story to it :D (i do agree with the sentiment on grape, however, that stuff makes me wanna yarf.)

Ethan, it is *so* cool that you were a part of research! This is blowing my mind. Also, it’s cool how you explained your allergic reaction physiologically and psychologically. Science nerds for the win!!!
I was away at a residential therapy place at one point and because of a food allergy I couldn't eat a lot of stuff they served so they often just got me snack packs for lunch but for some reason they got me only the weirdest flavours. The Cinnabon ones were pretty good but the Fruity Pebbles ones were rancid.
Tapioca has tiny bobba pearls that generally settle to the bottom of the pudding cups. You have to mix the pudding before you eat it. It's a texture thing.
Does anyone else remember the puddings in the tin cans in the 90s? THOSE were good. Peeling back that tin lid. Which makes me feel like I liked pudding as a kid. But in my early 30's I tried pudding again and damn near gagged. The texture was the absolute worst thing. So 11:01 is the realest thing, smooth, chunky, textured, makes me gag and shiver.
Grape flavor is actually based on the Concord grape. It’s not really grown for widespread consumption, unlike table grapes. So yeah it makes sense that “normal” grapes don’t taste like the concord variety.
So, here's the thing about artificial grape: it's not going for the type of grape that most people (in the US, anyway) usually eat. The type of grape that artificial grape is trying to imitate is Concord grape. Obviously it's still not one to one, but it's a hell of a lot closer than your typical table grape.
grape flavor comes from the flavor of concord grapes, which can only be harvested in certain places and a certain time of the year so their not as easy to buy, that’s why most people don’t know that they exist and think that grape flavor tastes nothing like grapes.
i believe that there is this flavour group that is just, they have similar notes that you can literally pair them up in any way and they d o all work- watermelon, mint, bubblegum, banana, coconut, basil. all the combos work, try a bananamint shake and tell me its not bomb
4:21 Concord grapes taste exactly like artificial grape flavor. You don't see them around much because they have a large seed and a thick skin, so people don't like them much.
the lemon meringue puddings are the only ones that draw me away from chocolate ones, they're pretty decent. But then, I also enjoy fake banana flavoured things, I think just because it's usually pretty intense and I guess I get bored of the standard flavours? Same reason I get excited about honeydew flavoured things.
Speaking of tasting like laundry detergent... When I was a kid, I remember some cereal or something was running this promotion where they had an Ice Age 2 ice lolly mould inclduded in their boxes. A friend of mine had one, and one time when I was over at his, I found it in the freezer and said "hey, can I have this?" And he responded in the affirmative. It was yellowy, so I thought it'd just be lemon flavoured. I stuck the thing in my mouth and immediately, I knew it was not lemon flavoured. Well It was TECHNICALLY lemon flavoured. It was just lemon flavoured dish washing soap.

7:00 "That tastes like laundry detergent. Not that I've tried it... lately" lmfao wtf 😂😂 11:23 😆🤣
butterscotch snack pack was my life since the diaper days. still is
Does anyone else remember the puddings in the tin cans in the 90s? THOSE were good. Peeling back that tin lid. Which makes me feel like I liked pudding as a kid. But in my early 30's I tried pudding again and damn near gagged. The texture was the absolute worst thing. So 11:01 is the realest thing, smooth, chunky, textured, makes me gag and shiver.
Grape flavor is actually based on the Concord grape. It’s not really grown for widespread consumption, unlike table grapes. So yeah it makes sense that “normal” grapes don’t taste like the concord variety.
My favorite pudding is white chocolate. Specifically Jell-O brand, because the Hershey's brand just tastes like I'm eating a thickened whip cream.
So, here's the thing about artificial grape: it's not going for the type of grape that most people (in the US, anyway) usually eat. The type of grape that artificial grape is trying to imitate is Concord grape. Obviously it's still not one to one, but it's a hell of a lot closer than your typical table grape.
The way both banana and grape artificial flavors are my favorite makes this so funny to me.
grape flavor comes from the flavor of concord grapes, which can only be harvested in certain places and a certain time of the year so their not as easy to buy, that’s why most people don’t know that they exist and think that grape flavor tastes nothing like grapes.
the editing of these more recent videos in the last few months is sending me
I'll half agree. I am certain that artificial cherry is worse than fake grape, which is only called grape because it tastes purple
i believe that there is this flavour group that is just, they have similar notes that you can literally pair them up in any way and they d o all work- watermelon, mint, bubblegum, banana, coconut, basil. all the combos work, try a bananamint shake and tell me its not bomb
“my stomach feels bad”
Well boxed and pre-made puddings are mostly corn starch, so uh… It’ll do that to ya
I can't really trust commercial puddings because of the processed sugar that makes me wanna die, but I can still remember the chocolate fondly.

Concord grapes taste exactly like artificial grape flavor. You don't see them around much because they have a large seed and a thick skin, so people don't like them much.
Okay but like Ethan is so valid about the banana flavoring. Like I like it but at the same time it just does not work :,)
the lemon meringue puddings are the only ones that draw me away from chocolate ones, they're pretty decent.
But then, I also enjoy fake banana flavoured things, I think just because it's usually pretty intense and I guess I get bored of the standard flavours? Same reason I get excited about honeydew flavoured things.
Tapioca pudding is cream pudding with a little vanilla and small tapioca pearls in it for texture.
Love that clowncore was used at 7:30 :)
Actual banana pudding with bananas and whip cream and either vanilla wafers or nutter butters is amazing though.
Well
It was TECHNICALLY lemon flavoured.
It was just lemon flavoured dish washing soap.
The struggle of trusting someone to make food for you when you have allergies is real lol
‘It’s so much texture’ bit wrote me the fuck of that was so funny
This started autoplaying as i sat next to two empty banana cream pudding containers 💀
