Only purchased the 7” disc because it was laser etched with musical notes. Turned out to be brilliant and I still have it somewhere, 40 plus years later.
I've been a fan since 1980, too, when I first saw them on Video Concert Hall, a pre-MTV video TV show. My brother-in-law went out and bought all their albums. He was nuts about them. What a great band!
I heard this on the first day of broadcast on MTV and it’s been stuck in my head for weeks now such a good song I am going to request it on my local radio station
Call me crazy, but Split Enz was and still is the only band I ever really liked. Period. Thanks guys for entertaining me for over 40 years. What a legacy.
@@tfr-g5n Not when cyclone Gabriel takes out the power! But wait, when One NZ, (ex Clear ex Vodafone), go live in 2024, we are going interStarlink 🥳 Then history won't repeat (see what I did there), because we just communicate with our cellphones power or no power.

Great band and if there’s any Beatles fans, I created something people seem to like a bit, to see it simply just type in the following title to search bar…. Beatles sketch with snippets
Loved this band in the 80s & still do in 2023!
Man, these guys bring back so many early MTV memories for me! Perfection! I'm 2024, and so glad these videos exist. ❤
Neil & Tim Finn are two of the greatest songwriters in history. ❤
I concur.
Defined my late high school years. Thank you Split Enz for being an important part of my childhood 🤍
Mine too. I think I would have gone nuts without them. My world!
@@janinehazel4512 Woo hoo! I’m glad you have great memories of the good ol’ days in music, too ☀️
Yep music in the early 80's amazing
God I miss the 80s and awesome music like Split Enz.
Oh they were one of my absolute faves on MTV everyday after school...miss those days❤
This was the 12th video played on MTV. (11th played in entirety.) Split Enz videos were played seven times on the first day of MTV.
I got you was the bigger hit..
But this was the current album in 81.

My favorite band in the 80's too. Their songs are still so fresh and beautiful, so full of feeling. I still treasure my original vinyl albums.
What an awesome band.
The bridge in this song is simply the best . Such an influential sound . Especially in Metal and most wouldnt even know.
Played this a lot in high school.
Always have loved your band . Thank you so much 💕
Loved them since 81. I will always be a fan.

I would watch MTV for hours waiting for a Split Enz video. ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic!💜💜💜
I heard of it in 1982 properly
Ahhhh...sweet youth! This was often on repeat in my Salad Days.❤
It's about time all good.
Pure pop ..I'm 63 now .. does age show ?
Their best song, IMO.
110%
Back in the early 80's my father was listening to this and told me it was shite! He said history always repeats! He just didn't get it!
As Mark Twain said “History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme”.
It's like The Beatles if they were a new wave act....
I love the 80s songs 🎉😂❤ ❤😮😊😂❤ ❤🎉😊
They are special ❤️🕊
They were loveable in the latter Seventies!! 😊
Oh how i miss MTV. I WANT MY MTVVVVVVEEEE

1:15 "Ah Christ my older bro's on telly again."

Yea especially at the end .. it’s spitz up.
Split Enz:The Living Enz
Just looking I see 4 songs I like.
Great song .
That was my mistake. Sounds like
Let my father stay
Bought the single. Still love it, but why is it not on Spotify?
The video is clear. The audio sounds like it's coming off a wax cylinder recording.
The end of the enz concert❤
from someone who met women and nightclubbed back then that first rejection at 30 seconds said it all. perfect memories :)
Split Enz fans don't like too comment...must be a NZ thing..
Do they have internet in NZ yet ?

Oh an Aussie! Should have guessed. The country that finally gave its indigenous people the vote in the 1960s.
Why am I all the sudden thinking of Matthew Lesko? 😄
Who?

Totally original
Audio seems full of little dropouts, unfortunately.
This is due to master tape issues.
This recording is damaged. This one is better: wZXcYjI1-S8
What happened to Mal Green? 😃
He was kicked out the band shortly before they filmed this video.

Wow. They must have had only 2 or 3 bands down there if this is considered top stuff.
