      Thank you. I wish more of our viewers felt the same. 😄 Every thing we publish with ski footage tanks like Ted Kennedy's Oldsmobile Delmont 88. I think this season we'll limit it to Shorts, except for extenuating circumstances.

    I so appreciate your footage going down the slopes. I know it’s not for everyone and that it is technically not about RV camping, but it is a Grand Adventurer.
    You ski like a pro and I enjoyed the ride! 👍🏼
    I’m wondering where you are headed. Unfortunately we will be at the south end of Utah, so there will be no chance of bumping into you - your safe for now! (Zion around the 13th, Mexican Hat around the 15th and Escalante around the 20th)

Finally, I had to save it so I could go back to it when I wanted to relax and take it the beauty. The battery option for the Newair cooler is a Marvelous option! Is there other methods that the battery can be charged? I'm Power Stoked to see the new truck and how you optioned it out. Back in 89 I had an early video camera setup that I used while skiing. I would get the camera lense down as close as I could to the snow... at sky tip height. The sensation of speed from that birds eye view was very interesting to watch.

    re: US 50 - one of my favorite roads! I usually boondock or use public campgrounds, but the KOA in Ely is awesome. And Ely is not too far from Great Basin NP, the Ruby Mtns, Garnet Hill, the Success scenic loop, and Berlin-Icythyosaur state park (currently closed, but due to reopen this spring).

    I skied at Alta in 1975, the price was $12 per day, which was dirt cheap even then. Mammoth was about $30/day and Big Bear $27/day.

    Nice. We are also in Utah. Saratoga Springs west side of Utah Lake in the free camping area. We are headed east next week over to Cheyenne Wyoming. Staying in the Laramie Range at 8000’. 13 years fulltime living the dream. StarLink is working great! Real game changer for our Boondocking lifestyle. Still waiting for roaming.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What, you're not roaming yet on Starlink? I thought everyone had it by now. Try moving without changing your service address and see if it enables. Safe travels into Wyoming and enjoy Oohtah! The Laramie Mountains are really pretty cool.

    • @StarBase7390
      @StarBase7390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GrandAdventure Contacted StarLink customer support two days ago and they said roaming was still being tested and didn’t have a release date. Looking on my status its still saying roaming “False”. I check it every few days. We moved from Yuma 3 weeks ago up to St George and then last week up to Saratoga Springs. Had to use a new service address close to us both places then It worked. Do you have “Allow Remote Trouble Shooting” turned on? Just curious if that would make a difference on StarLink being able to update service or change settings. Mine shows Never Allow. I can turn it to Allow or Never Allow. It was in the Never Allow position out of the box so I haven’t changed it. I wonder if also doing a factory reset would activate roaming. That would fly in the face of what customer service told me if it works. When did you receive roaming? Did yours just one day change status to “True” on it’s own or did you have to do something to get roaming to work. I remember you not having roaming in Quartzsite. When I received my StarLink we where Boondocking within a quarter of a mile from the Mexican border and couldn’t get service at all. Moved 12 miles in away from the border and no problem. Worked great.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StarBase7390 in our experience, rebooting the router, rebooting the dish or doing anything else didn't make a difference. We got roaming equals true shortly after we did the video with Marcus. However, realize that it is a status and not a feature. We got roaming by changing our service address to a place about 30 miles west of where we are. We have since changed our service address back to our physical location, so we now again see roaming equals false. However, we will leave our service address right here when we begin traveling and will again see it true.

      @@GrandAdventure Thanks very much for the understanding of feature vs status. That made all the difference between how I thought it worked and how it actually works. I truly thought it was a feature that needed to be enabled. I changed my service address back to my original service address in Wyoming and it is still working. The status has changed to True. Thanks very much for that tip. I had not heard anyone explain the difference and thats an important piece of the equation. Real game changer. Thanks again. Happy Travels.

    If/when you ever get to Summit County CO, we'll buy you a beer (or two) at The Bakers' Brewery. We have some pretty good alpine & nordic resorts here. Unfortunately, our county is very RV unfriendly during ski season. Ugh.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL, you bet David. We tend to not move much during winter, though. We moved to Utah in January 2005 almost solely due to Alta, so we return to Utah each winter even now as a full-timer. We pick up a monthly RV site and stay there from late November through April.
      I spent a lot of time skiing Summit County as a kid (primarily Keystone shortly after it first opened, and Breck) as we lived in Boulder, where my father was an executive with Head Ski Co. during the Howard Head days. We know that area well, and last passed through there a couple of years ago traveling from a campsite at Twin Lakes to our next one at Rabbit Ears Pass.

    Hey Marc, it was refreshing to watch those cool weather scenes of Alta from the hot desert here in Quartzsite. I skied Alta for one day back in the early 90s. I was a beginning intermediate skier and somehow ended up on a tremendous mogul hill. I was wondering if I would ever make it off the hill I fell so many times. Despite that, it ws a great time and Alta stuck me as the place to be for those that truly loved skiing. I didn't think I saw any snow boarders in the video. Are they allowed?
    My nephew ordered a single wheel rear axle Ford F350 in November 2021 and took delivery the first part of January, 2022. It is a beautiful truck and no problems. He pulls a triple axle 42 ft Momentum toy hauler and it does a great job. I suspect you will be thrilled with the new truck. I'm looking forward to seeing it take you on many new Grand Adventures.

    • @GrandAdventure

      Thanks Bruce for letting me know about your nephew's experience! That's exactly what we ordered, a single rear wheel diesel F-350 with the 8-ft bed, Lariat trim. Mine was only ordered about 4 weeks after your nephew's truck! Yet they still haven't even begun the assembly.
      You're correct, Alta is one of only three US ski areas that still prohibit snowboarding. The other two are Deer Valley in Utah, and Mad River Glen in Vermont.
