Yes you have to think of your self for selfprotection. So stopping contact for a while can be good. But totally throwing your parents away will only hurt your self more. Treating hate with hatred never is a solution.
Let's be honest, if it wasn't for the accident his mother wouldn't have been open to accepting his gay lifestyle. Since the accident was caused by the mother she felt guilty and more sympathetic to her son's life. She also got to know the boyfriend who cared for her son and helped pay the payments to the evil loan shark. If this hadn't happened I doubt the family would have ended up in a happy place. I like to think it would eventually but the way the mother was acting before the accident didn't show any patience, understanding or consideration for her sons viewpoint.

Our Parents just need to understand our state and accept who we really are. We also have to do whatever it takes, to let them understand us. In families we need bounded relationship to one another that'll help us be strong and inseparable. And also in relationship that is on the cycle of life to be accepted by everybody, we must wait and also tell them that we deserve their acceptance by showing them honesty, kindness and any good actions or decisions we make in life for the better of us and also the others :-) :-D
