Planets don’t do things for us directly , it is our past deeds ( karmas ) that becomes active . Every karma has certain vibration and similarly every planet has certain vibration . When the karmic time comes the vibration of planets do activate the vibration of karma . I haven't seen any Hindu or Sanatan family argue with their any family members just because they choose to pray their choice of इष्ट देवता. In my family my sister in law's इष्ट is Mahadev, mine is Shri Krishna, my parents Pandurang, my sister's श्री राम, my brother's गणपती. We don't even remember this that we have different इष्ट.
