I always thought that Sonic would have some semblance of 4th wall breaking self awareness when it comes to his age. Mario hasn't changed really at all, but Sonic literally has eras of his life portrayed in games and comics and now movies. I think seeing Sonic still persist and be as carefree as he can, as adventurous as always with a tad more wisdom is actually really cool. Very nice video.
Somehow they still made Sonic feel like Sonic even though he's supposed to be a depressed 30 y/o. Like, at the end where he still shows off his, sorta roughed up but still cool, skills and charm which makes the girls swoon over him instantly. Peek Sonic.
Dude seeing sonic in his 30’s and being a retired hero is such a cool concept. The part when he gets that heroic shine in his eye after what seems like years and he stops eggman is just… I can only explain it like this. “WHOA WHOA WHAT’S HAPPENING- HOLY SHIIIIII AHHHH!”
Life is full of possibilities. Between the IDW comics, the positive movie reception, and even the new comic writers being brought in to help produce the next game, we might just be in the midst of a renaissance of the franchise.
as much as the music slaps we also need to give a standing fucking ovation to the animation team. the sheer amount of thoughtfullness, gags, references and overall care in every single scene is astounding. godspeed to everyone involved
NO! NO! NO! Many people say I am sick in the head. NOOOO!!!! I don't believe them. But there are so many people commenting this stuff on my videos, that I have 1% doubt. So I have to ask you right now: Do you think I am sick in the head? Thanks for helping, my dear el
I love how it portrayed Sonic Forces as everything on fire. Also I loved how Tails was married to Cream and overworked, Knuckles was a construction worker while Big was filthy rich and got all the bitches. Silver was also in therapy. XD
I can't be the only one who thinks this looks like a genuine official TV show opening or movie quality passionate work that looks professionally awesome in its own right.
Honestly, I don't blame Sonic. He's saved the world a whole bunch of times, and if we're counting the comics, an *infinite* amount of times in an *infinite* amount of universes. He's worked hard, and it's only gonna get worse... ...unless something goes right in his Frontiers debut. Actually, how COME he doesn't have enough rings? He's found millions over his games, a couple thousand shouldn't be that bad. *And fuck the guy who orders his food across a city to get it within 15 seconds only to pay 4 rings.*
every ring he had got taken by taxes and of course, now there's no rings around anywhere because the society have them, no ring boxes either, the only ones that could give rings are the giant rings that god knows where would appear now and the legendary "S" box (super box)
This video took me back to my childhood, when I loved watching Sonic fan animations and listening to music from Sonic Heroes. The style of the original Sonic animation is beautifully rendered. And, of course, very funny lyrics, sung by the legendary Johnny Gioeli. Thank you so much!
Especially when you factor in what reflections of real-life situations are depicted here: * Sonic stuck broke and in an unhappy marriage with Amy, who's "tsundere" attitude only seems to have gotten rougher as she's gotten older. * Knuckles is a drunk construction worker. (Seriously, why won't ANYONE pay him enough to just let him keep an eye on that Master Emerald and Angel Island?!) * Tails stuck in a dead-end office job with Cream and Cheese (who appears to have evolved into a regular Hero Chao by this point) as his secretaries. * Big the Cat is some kind of corporate bigwig (pun intended?) who spends his downtime playing the classic Sonic games. * Silver seems to be in some kind of therapy session with the Chao Doctor from SA2 (and only hanging onto his sanity by his fingertips?) * Shadow is Sonic's drinking buddy (and judging from the nametag on his shirt seems to have employment of some kind). * Eggman is in semi-retirement as a casino magnate and possibly with a gambling addiction, all those years of failed plans and frustrations finally having broken his will to conquer the world.
I knew he's old but holy smokes 30 years. Sonic can run faster than sound but the Chalkeaters have harnessed it in another hit. That 50K is nearly 500K!
Johnny Gioeli can make any song sound better. Glad it’s already good. 1:10 also the Sonic X reference gives this an automatic A+ Another thing: So many Sonic parodies get Sonic so wrong or use him as the butt of a joke. Here, him and Amy still feel in character, despite being older versions of them.
@@blockyvids2 Oh, you're right, the pose is near identical to the one Sonic makes when transforming into Dark Sonic. Weird how they would reference something that only showed up for 30 seconds in one episode of a Sonic TV show, but hey, I'm not complaining.
Amy being Sonic's legit girlfriend/housewife keeping his ass grounded and having his back even if it's begrudgingly is oddly funny and adorable, if only to see her scare Eggman off so he'd leave Sonic alone for once. Also, dear god Tails having an office job and looking completely dead inside hits WAY too hard man.
30 is only a bad age if you let it be. It all matters what you have done to improve yourself up to this point, if you have even bothered to look inside yourself to figure out who you are.. I'm 30 and I'm at my prime. I'm doing loads better than I ever had in my life, I'm steadfast in my principles and don't accept any fake people into my life no matter how small my circle is or even if i have a one at all. I don't need a constant in my life besides me. That's how others should look at it. Always progress forwards.
@@TrashQueenAndKing It really is honestly. Young people look at your 30's like your one step in the grave. It's really bizarre. Your 30's is your prime years, you are figuring yourself out in your 20's liable to make all the dumbest mistakes in your life and no one knows what it is they truly want or who it is they truly are. You are working towards your 30's to be the best version of yourself. In my experience, that is when you meet the best people as well.
Posting this here since most see this version first, the Animation is Stellar, but because of how the song works it misses the Second part, the Part that challenges the first leaving you with a hopeful outlook at the end. Timestamps for the original song 2:41 here to really expand on sonic's now lost of he used to be, theres another speed demon Born with his power, Another Sonic you may say, Young and imature and a Fan of the same character. I originally wanted to also make him a Hedgehog to expand on that front, like his past not only him choosing to be affected by it but also being faced litterally by someone who has what he cosidered his. an armadillo would work better now I think, putting into reference how Mighty was a Sonic Pallate swap, and just way more niche, I'd imgine in the this future he's working with knuckles in conctruction, doesn't need a hat because of his hard shell. So in these scene both are going into their own destenations, Sonic delevring his Chillidogs for Rings Paid, and our oc(Do not Steal) that represents sonic's past self going to school, they hit a crossing point 3:03 where sonic Surpsried in meeting someone else who can match his speed, like Shadow, but is way Younger. and (I'll call him T) T Surprised in meeting his Favorite Hedgehog, Both fall but T is able to cacth himself, while sonic Springs from car to car until hitting the Ground 3:06. T comes to his aid above him, while sonic's crushed most of his Chillidog deliveries and Soul crying on the floor 3:09. T helps Sonic get Up, holding hand and grining while sonic is still in desmay 3:16, sonic looks at the sky to see stars then stares down at T 3:17, he grins, packs up whatever chilidog wasn't destroyed, and prepares with T, to go at his pace arms together 3:21-3:25 3:31 overtime moves through faster and faster slowly gaining speed, failing first order, then moving on to the next getting better and better, while T is Scraficing his school to bring Sonic from his Lowest. overtime sonic starts excerising, eating what AMY cooks and Giving her more affection, and gains higher Ranks for stages(He gained a C Rank thats a 1/1000 he's getting better!) has a happier Attetude like he used to, a Smile against the Harsh World. his friends can feel this while he passes, pushing them to find what they want out of their own Lives 4:14 until sonic and T meet paths again and see two people about to get his by a two cars, they do what they do best, Save their World.
I love the way the song is written. From a bit slower tempo/beat/melody all the way to twisting some of the lyrics from previous Sonic Music to giving some things seriously to think about. I also love the animation as well, I imagine that must've took all the energy out of the animators but it was definitely worth it!
Yeah it's full of references "No rings in his hand" - Seven Rings in Hand "Heavy thoughts keep on scrapping your brain" - Scrap Brain "Chase you like a truck" and "a city from which there is no escape" - City Escape The full version has more of them.
@@Elrealsodapop200 I think it's a case of genre shift. With Sonic going from its regular tone to realistic and serious, it might not work out. It worked for Bojack Horseman since it has no previous luggage to carry out or to consider.

Sonic can actually end it all and run away from the pain. He goes upstairs to the bathroom, lock the door, and put this 🔫 to his head. The pain would go away immediately.
Sonic here gives me heavy Peter B. Parker vibes from Into the Spiderverse by how tired and jaded he is with his life now. Also 1:29 Amy scaring Eggman off is hilarious😂, she really don't have patience for this stuff anymore.

The music to this sounds like a combination of every other sonic track and they all just work together so well 0:06 and 1:10 live and learn 0:45 what I’m made of

* Knuckles is a drunk construction worker. (Seriously, why won't ANYONE pay him enough to just let him keep an eye on that Master Emerald and Angel Island?!)
* Tails stuck in a dead-end office job with Cream and Cheese (who appears to have evolved into a regular Hero Chao by this point) as his secretaries.
* Big the Cat is some kind of corporate bigwig (pun intended?) who spends his downtime playing the classic Sonic games.
* Silver seems to be in some kind of therapy session with the Chao Doctor from SA2 (and only hanging onto his sanity by his fingertips?)
* Shadow is Sonic's drinking buddy (and judging from the nametag on his shirt seems to have employment of some kind).
* Eggman is in semi-retirement as a casino magnate and possibly with a gambling addiction, all those years of failed plans and frustrations finally having broken his will to conquer the world.

2:41 here to really expand on sonic's now lost of he used to be, theres another speed demon Born with his power, Another Sonic you may say, Young and imature and a Fan of the same character.
T helps Sonic get Up, holding hand and grining while sonic is still in desmay 3:16, sonic looks at the sky to see stars then stares down at T 3:17, he grins, packs up whatever chilidog wasn't destroyed, and prepares with T, to go at his pace arms together 3:21-3:25
3:31 overtime moves through faster and faster slowly gaining speed, failing first order, then moving on to the next getting better and better, while T is Scraficing his school to bring Sonic from his Lowest.
overtime sonic starts excerising, eating what AMY cooks and Giving her more affection, and gains higher Ranks for stages(He gained a C Rank thats a 1/1000 he's getting better!) has a happier Attetude like he used to, a Smile against the Harsh World. his friends can feel this while he passes, pushing them to find what they want out of their own Lives 4:14 until sonic and T meet paths again and see two people about to get his by a two cars, they do what they do best, Save their World.
I love the way the song is written. From a bit slower tempo/beat/melody all the way to twisting some of the lyrics from previous Sonic Music to giving some things seriously to think about.

@@connormclernon26 He's 8, while Sonic is 15.
That makes him 23. God life has been harsh to him.
@@conic2721 BUT there Generations with Sonic Birthday, so Sonic is 16 years old, and 1 moment, Tails was 8 age old in Classic Sonic, you want to say when Sonic and Tails met, Tails was 4? So Classic Tails with 4 years old can drive Sonic Airplane? :D
@@forteexe1335 The only one who aged more than a year is Amy. Classic is 8 and modern is12.
I can't get over the fact how canon it is
And DUDE IS THAT IRMA THE HEDGEHOG AT 1:18 (The green lady on the right)??
It’s a minor IM CALLING THE COPS ON YPU
@@IknowThatHurtss Dude, all i did was notice a fan character in a music video. Chill out.
@@PewPawPowsonly a pedobear affiliate would ever notice someone under 18!!!
Who are those 3
@@SirIzak79
Crystal the Cat (the pink one), she's made a cameo in the issue 3 of the IDW comics and she's an OC of Jennifer Hernandez, the artist for the comic who before that was known for her other OC Jade the Cat.
Crystal also has her own OC x Canon ship with Mighty the Armadillo by Jenny herself. All of Jenny's Sonic OCs do.
Irma the Hedgehog (The green one) is also someone's OC. Idk jack about her, i just recognize her from some of the old Sonic Speedpaint/Recolor videos i watched as a kid.
I dunno who this yellow cat is.
As someone who was a young guy when I started playing sonic, this is extremely relatable. Also, my back hurts from watching this.
Headcanon is Eggman isn’t evil anymore but still fights Sonic to cheer him up cause he knows he’s going through a hard time
That would be... Very wholesome actually.
This is so cool yet so... Bizarre... Sonic has been aged up officially before, but as far as the reader is concerned, he's still in shape, still can handle himself against Eggman, still a hero, and still has that pep in his step. You know?
I mean, he went from child to teen.
The day they make him an adult stuff's gonna get interesting.
@@conic2721
Its called "Sonic Boom"
@@tropicalbreeze1164 eh no, all characters in boom are the same age as modern
@@yayco123
They talk about prison, taxes, mortgages, depression, and being out of date.
Thats about as adult as you can get.
@@tropicalbreeze1164 so you are saying teens cant talk about that?
The MOMENT he started singing I knew exactly who it was, and a tear dripped from my eye and turned into a golden ring.
I like to think that sonic isn’t sad in this timeline, it’s just not for him. He’s not used to settling down and being consistent. He still loves his life. He just wishes he could go back for just a moment
I've watched this so many times since it came out, I'm entering my 20s this year, and I cant help but feel scared. This video was so good, and hearing crush 40 again hit like a truck full of nostalgia
