Gabe Gaeckle is special. The DVH and Matt Hobbs factory continues.

He looks very happy with this team. Wow on the pitching.

One more thing. 90 pitches is way too high for pitchers who are throwing 95+ mph with high spin rate. That's why we're having so many arm injuries the last few years. It's great that they're able to pitch at that velo. But it puts way too much pressure on the arm. 50 to 60 pitches tops is what I'd be pitching guys that throw that hard and with that much spin. You've got the extra arms. Use them.

Team looks good early on. Not so much halfway through game 3 of the exhibition series. I'm still not sold on Thompson as a hitting coach. His philosophy is to take the pitch on a 3 and 1 count. Which is, if I may be frank, stupid. Pitchers are doing their best to throw a strike on a 3 and 1 count every time. They don't want to walk the batter. So by telling the hitters to take the pitch (not swing), he's telling them to pass up on a pitch that the pitcher is doing his best to throw right down the pipe. It's a dumb philosophy. And it's probably part of the reason our hitters seem so nervous, not relaxed and confident.
    Gog Hogs.
