Thank you for this series, Fr. Daniel. I have just finished Episode 2 and am excited to go through the rest. This has been most informative in grounding me, as a Catholic, in my daily intention to lessen my impact on our common home. It also strengthens me as part of a community of advocates working for a Rights of Nature law in our country.
Thank you, Fr. Dan! I stumbled on this series some time ago and kept it to "watch later". I acquired my own copy of Laudato Si when it was published and read and underlined much of it! I was so happy to see a Pope finally issue an encyclical on our care of creation. I had hoped it might come with Pope John Paul II... I, myself, am a Franciscan sister, and a vegetarian since 2002. Now, I am sharing your series with my community, and writing notes to facilitate same as none are native English speakers. The very fact that they are open to doing this study together is an indication of how far we have travelled!
This is an excellent presentation, Fr. Dan. Thanks for making it so easy to understand and planting the desire to be involved in the care of our gift of Mother Earth
Fr. Dan, thank you so much for clarifying and emphasizing that the Pope and all Christians are addressing ALL people of the earth. I have been disturbed at Mass when we sing the Gloria and we sing "Glory to God in the Highest; and on earth people to people of good will". I believe we should be singing "Peace to ALL people" - no exceptions or exclusions. Mary K.
+Melanie Sawyer that's actually a very good insight. But perhaps the hope in the end is that the Mass text suggests that, all people are people of good will :-) Even the most wicked have to have some good will in them. So upon further reflection, I don't see it as an exclusive club, but as a hopeful statement that all people on earth have the potential to be people of good will!!
Having read Laudato Si', it went over my head how it is a call to everyone, not just to Catholics. I love that Pope Francis has done so. At a time when the church gets such bad press and gets knocked so easily, it is so refreshing to see it being so welcoming and inclusive. I love that it is not solely directed at Catholics. I love that this is obvious too throughout this forum - As Il has kindly proved this by the comment below.
1983, I stood with some people after Mass one gorgeous spring day. As we were chatting, the topic moved me to comment on about “global warming “ and the need to be responsible in how we treated our common home. Everyone mumbled uncomfortably, most turned and walked away. Non grata in their midst, even now. From the age of 12, I had been aware of damage being done. Back then, I was “cute”. Two decades later I was “one of those people”, evidently threatening their wealth and status. Laudato Si was a gift from God in more ways than I can count.
Fr. Dan, until a few days ago (when my Prof mentioned that Laudato Si would be one of our readings for the course), I thought that this letter was just about growing trees and taking care of the environment :)... I am so ashamed!! I appreciate that you have made my reading a lot much more easier with these videos.
Dan, did you truly mock the march for life, did you attend? At the exact moment two states have voted to murder children just prior to birth you attack even remotely the march? You sir should be donning your armor, & taking up the sword. Not minimizing the fight and leading people astray. I will be praying for you and for those who heard your statement and were distracted from the mission tonight. Stand up sir and fight, you have the podium.
How is the teaching of our Holy Father about our connectedness to and responsibility for all of creation not pro-life? Life is sacred from conception to natural death. God looked at everything He made and saw that it was good. Gen. 1:31.

+Ann Strohminger You're most welcome -- thanks for watching. More episodes to come!

What you are doing is incredibly important! Thank you.
What he is doing is incredibly diabolical. This is Satanic.

This helped me very much Dan.

God made this world; therefore it’s sacred.
Thank you Fr. Dan! I shared with our Greensboro fraternity.
+Michael Evangelista You're most welcome - Hope you enjoy and find this useful!
Quite insightful. We are all stewards in creation and it is up to us to take care of it. Good to know.
Thank you for your excellent commentary on "Laudato Si." I am looking forward to the rest of these videos.

Why were you so ashamed? This is the works of Satan. Dan Horan is a child of darkness. He is a wolf in sheep clothing
I'm a muslim and I love you 😊 and I appreciate you though we disagree about the nature of God!
