    I also feel that tinted lacquer is really the best method of coloring this style furniture. Thanks for the video !!

    I'm glad I don't live close to your shop...I would need to buy practically every MCM piece you've worked on. They always look fantastic!

    AUGH! Part 1 continues to have trouble processing. I started uploading it yesterday. Hopefully it will process soon. This is what I get for trying to upload them together! Thanks for your patience.

      I was just about to ask. Sometime you just have to be Zen about it all. :)

    Hi Larry, I had to get a new computer because the Ethernet Port on my desktop went bad and it would not communicate withe the router. So I got a new Dell desktop. Then had to pack it up due to house being remodeled. That was before Christmas. I still do not have my desktop up and running again. I was using my laptop with Vista operating system and it was so slow that I got fed up with it. I ordered a refurbished Dell laptop from Tiger Direct. It is a little smaller than the old HP laptop but that is OK. I will be making a laptop case for it.

    I don't have access to spraying toners and lacquers so my plan for the coffee table I have is to seal it with pre-stain and use a gel based wipe on stain with a poly coat on the top. I'm a complete newbie to this, would you recommend a rattle can poly topcoat or a wipe on? Also, I worry that I'll have the same issue with the legs having lighters spots around the edges and in the curves. Is it possible to use the glaze over the gel stain in the same way? I'm surprised you went with such a high contrast look for these after seeing your previous lane videos, was this a client request?

      You should be able to use your gel stain in a manner similar to a glaze. If you wipe on the poly make sure it's not wiping off your stain. I think you'll be fine -thanks for watching!

    Apologies for asking one of the usual questions... but is the shellac you mixed with the pigments wax free? Great video as usual Larry. Greetings from Lancashire, England.

    • @LostMountainRestoration

      I used a pre-mix product called Lac French. You can certainly use a de-waxed shellac like Seal Coat and get the same result.

      @@LostMountainRestoration I'll look into it! Product availability is a little different over here so I'm always scrambling to find an alternative, but thats just part of the fun! Thanks for taking the time to get back Larry.

    Thanx for the recap! Such an unusual design, I was wondering the back story! Does your Missus still have a booth at the antique store?---And, do you ever pick up cast-offs to work your magic on to sell at the store?

    • @LostMountainRestoration
      @LostMountainRestoration  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are client pieces going into a home in SC. We still have the antique booths, but are downsizing our footprint there. While I used to buy, repair and resell furniture at the mall as well as on-line, I have been doing less of that as time goes on and pretty much doing client work exclusively. I hope all is well and thanks for watching!
