That is so awesome, I got chosen one time at the Lakeland, Florida show and it was awesome. I had such a fun time, I keep trying to find videos to show my girlfriend, but alas, no such thing exists. I can't remember if it was May 2nd or 3rd 2009. :( You are right, at first I thought the people were plants until the lady that got chosen refused and I got chosen instead. Suffice it to say, my nephews were impressed with my performance on stage. You must really have to be a good judge of character to find the right person. :)
I got chosen in Oostende ( Belgium) It was a huge succes... i had a wonderful time and a it is a fine memory ... when i got shot, i did the matrix manoeuvre a couple of times... to bad there where no cell phones yet... i don't think there is a recording of that...

And I had a raging head-cold when I saw the show (which was probably why I scared the shite out of the masked characters that ran through the audience with masks that had upturned noses).
You choose wisely. If you work with the audience in this way, you must be very sensitive to their mood and the energy/information that you are giving them. If I chose poorly, I would simply change the audience member, but you can only do it once the audience "wants" it. If you change too quickly, the audience will see you as "chickening out" and the public sentiment will turn on you.
Sometimes when the pick isn't the most coperative they change the person between acts, but in this case the men played along so well that the artist used him for all the show.
