  • Supplemental batteries, as explained in this video, arre used in addition with other primary batteries for the ability of keeping extra power. It is important to knwo when it is the right time for you to install an extra battery, as well as knowing how to properly install it. It is important to understand the relationship between the battery and alternator when considering adding that battery.
    In this video, Jp gives us a quick rundown on a frequently asked question, what is a supplemental battery? He also answers when it is you will need one!

    Does a lithium require anything extra? Like to keep it from overcharging the battery or demanding too much from the alt? I just bought a battery isolator and have a 150amp alternator. I’m about to buy a secondary battery and I’d prefer to buy a lithium but don’t want to upgrade the alt just yet. I saw that a 100ah lithium’s recommended charge is 50 amps. I’m looking at getting a 100ah lithium or a similar size XS AGM. Any input would be great!

    Several questions, big 3 to XS Power AGM battery under the hood, then dual grounds and hots from alternator to two connected D4S LTO 6.0, Then hookup all amps to the D4S LTO. Am I correct? Also for a 10,000 watt system, Taramp MD 8K 2ohm running two Zv6’s bridged to1ohm and a 2K Phoenix Gold on mids and highs, will two D4S LTO 6.0 be enough with a 250 hp alternator? I run both batteries parallel with an isolator. I'm confused about what you said about hooking both to the alternator. I have the big 3 done, 2 platinum AGM batteries with stinger isolator, factory 130 amp alternator, skv2 1500.1 amp, 2 evl 12s. Every wire is 1 awg ofc. I know my power isn't impressive but I've never done this before and hooked this up myself in an 09 maxima. Boss head unit too. I'm new to this and always wanted a system. I do want to install a high output alternator but the only one I can find that seems somewhat reliable is JS alternators. I can't up the amp till I do that. It is hitting pretty good and voltage never drops below 13.3 since adding the second battery and isolator. Btw, I'm dying to hear a system like the Tahoe. Never heard anything like that before. Thanks for all your videos and help. They've helped me along the way.

    • @fullpeladas
      @fullpeladas ปีที่แล้ว

      Your doing it the right way running parallel with isolator. It's the same thing he's saying of the alternator. Because your primary battery is already connected to alternator in order to charge. So you charging it in parallel with the primary battery. Make sure you have a fuse from positive battery to other positive battery at least a 200 amp fuse 😊

      Supplemental 🔋 does NOT need wired to alt independently, just to the main battery & then that circuit is completed by the wiring already in place between the factory battery & alt.
      Although, you would want to upgrade those wires to gain efficiency! Aka, BIG 3!
      Also, preferably upgrade your alt, cause it's now working harder! 💪

      Other than upgrading your alt & the wires running to /from it, you do NOT need to run additional wiring from your alt to your new supplemental battery!
      Run your 12v + wire from your main 🔋 to your trunk / supplemental 🔋 & put a fuse at both ends.
      Ground your supplemental 🔋 in your trunk.
      You can install a battery isolator if you want, but that's optional.

Running the ground wire from the front battery to the rear battery just insures that you are getting 100% of the potential of the current flow

The setup i'm running is 2 skar evl's and i plan on getting the nvx xad14 3000 watt rms full bridge amp to power em.

    I'm new to Car audio, but not new to Lithium ion, or Lifpo4 batteries etc. What I find interesting is no one ever mentions that having a car alternator connected to a lithium battery without any type of low voltage or high voltage cut off or BMS (battery management system) is dangerous. If people are going to connect a lithium battery especially one that is not meant to run off a vehicles electrical system ( I know they make some drop ins but they have a BMS built in for protection) "newbies" may not know that there is a difference when it comes to those types of batteries. I made this comment because in your video you have an 8AH lithium battery next to an alternator and made no mention of how to safely use these types of batteries in conjunction. I understand it was a Q and A that you answered, but the answer is not as simple as you made it out to be.

      I'm pretty positive you can run them off the same pulley system so long as you have no slipping (belt slipping) or anything, I was under the impression the only thing you would need to be careful of is having a 14v charging system mixed with a 16 or 19v charging system, you cannot run those together but even then I think its on the same pulleys being turned by the same engine, that's all they're mounted up there for anyway, to be turned by the engine rpms, I believe they just simply run the power wires from each alt separately as needed if they are seperate charging systems... I'm not 100% sure tho im all youtube taught / whatever experience i do myself lmfao
