For your saddle glycerine saddle soap works well. Once you’ve cleaned it, rub it with Neatsfoot oil. It penetrates and keeps leather supple and reasonably water repellent. Put a saddle pad under your saddle to stabilize it and when you oil’s soaked in toss a light blanket over it to keep it clean.
Beauty of a saddle! I was about to suggest mink oil...when seconds later you pick up a bottle then show it is mink oil! Great minds think alike! The ladies are wearing their war paint ha ha! You do take such good care of them! The farm show looked well attended...and 'twas good to see your parents strolling about enjoying it! How is the cheese building coming? Take care...bundle up...be safe!
The oil you bought should work for your saddle. I always used the Weaver Neoprene Smart Cinch for my horses. The Smart cinch makes it really easy to get a tight fit and I found that the neoprene reduced chafing in the hot summer months when trail riding. You are right to replace those other leather straps. Too many cracks in the leather to be safe. Great vlog Neline. ❤️
Thank you another great video, I hope everything is good around the farm in the current cold snap! Stay warm and safe and can't wait for the next video.
When Rookie was sticking her head in the snow…she is probably hunting mice/moles/voles which burrow along under the snow. My cattle dog used to live doing that and caught them fairly regularly!
Perfect opportunity to point out the cows' tails, even though clipped many have manure balls in the switch, stressing the importance of clipping. Beautiful red calf at the end. Nice saddle, Neline.
I love that saddle. I had a Circle Y that looked very similar to that style seat. I gotta ride a saddle that sits you more tilted on to rump cheeks. I could ride about 4 hours without my knees and hips joints, not killing me. Had to laugh at rookie. She is in her rowdy phase. Replaced the off side billet strap along with the cinch tie strap. It's better safe than sorry. If the fenders are weight bearing take it to a saddle smith and have new stirrup leathers put on and have the fenders attached to the leathers . That was what happened to my saddle. It was used as a barn decoration
Hello Neline !! GOOATS and MOOOO COWS !!! How does it feel being the only Moo Cow Reporter on deck these days ?? Jan is still on hiatus it seems !!! boooo .... And she closes with an Angelic Little Red moo baby !!! YAY It has been COLD in Montreal, in fact Monday night, we are going to drop into MINUS (-23c) YIKES !! It has been snowing steadily for the past few days.
Careful about buckle arrangements for the girth.. those things can come loose and poke a nasty hole in your ponies chest.. better to go with a tie down/knot arrangement.. or.. for that replacement strap you noticed was torn.. use a leather punch on the end then use leather strips as thread to secure to the ring.. slightly moist strips with a knot at the end will shrink and make it super secure..... nice find.. you really shouldn't moisten it up all that much tbh.. when dry.. brush on fairly heavy grease/dubbin and wipe off the excess.....
What repair did you have to do with the iodine applicator on that milked? I don’t recall if you said what had to be done. Darn cold today, hope your goats are doing okay. Cheers from Regina.
@@ADairyonthePrairie You seemed to be looking to one side rather than directly at us and I've never noticed that before. Rookie is growing fast and getter her adult coat.

Enjoyed the video.
Hope you had a great new years party and i stil love the vids to what you are up to
I spent New Years in the best way: went to bed early, to milk cows the next morning! Thanks for following along 😁

That’s what I figured! First time she’s done it so it looked funny 🤣
Love the tooling on the saddle. Great purchase. Definitely buy a new cinch strap.
How're the sheep doing? Do you still have sheep at your new farm?
Beautiful saddle
Super nice saddle

Love it! Where has Jan been
Mink oil is what I use on my boots.
I'm sure you are holding back on it but an update on the cheese building would be cool :)
If you can get your hands-on some neets, foot oil. Best thing for leather.😮
I love the look of the saddle

Arjen walking at that show like a boss ( who,by the way,he is )
Just get black leather dye and do the whole saddle or patches where its discolored.
soon there will be rainforest in Saskatchewan !
Hello Ladies!
Just curious. Would you know how old the saddle might be?

I believe it needed a sensor replaced!
Neadfoot oil will soften ur leather
I've got a nice dressage saddle I'd sell you, you could try out something new. Shipping from Florida is probably horrendous, though. 😂
I think I’m out of my league trying dressage 😂.
Is Jan on a hot beach in Mexico? 😂
Different camera? 👍
Same one I’ve been using for the last couple of years, Sony A6400 😆. I used some slo-no today though.

That’s when I use my phone 😂. I’ll be looking at myself instead of the camera lol
Two "montage's" in one video!!
Can't say as I recall you using that word before, certainly not twice in a video.
What can I say, I love a good montage!
