Ah, you should definitely make a video about EN and Y (J'en ai; J'y vais etc) -- it's pretty confusing.
Y is for a location, en is for an amount.
Not necessarily :
- J'y ai pensé / J'en ai peur (I thought about it / I'm afraid of it)
- Je n'y crois pas / J'en doute (I don't believe it / I doubt it)
I couldn't tell you the rule, but I don't think it''s just a location vs amount type of thing.
je ne suis pas sûre, mais voici ce qu'on était dit à l'école ( je ne suis pas française) "en" sert à remplacer le complément d'objet direct. or "y" remplace le complément d'objet indirect.

Ce n'est pas tout à fait ça non plus, apparemment :/
Par exemple :
- dans la phrase "Tu as peur des serpents ?", le mot "serpents" est COI ("tu as peur DE QUOI"). Et pourtant, la réponse serait "Oui, j'EN suis terrifié".
- dans la phrase "Tu veux du chocolat ?", le mot "chocolat" est COD ("tu veux QUOI"). Et pourtant, la réponse serait "Oui, j'EN veux bien, merci."
D'après le site francaisfacile.com :
Le pronom "Y" remplace un nom ou groupe nominal introduit par "à", "au", "à la", "a l'", "aux". Ce peut être:
- Un lieu où l'on va, où l'on est.
- Une chose
"Y" peut aussi représenter un complément de lieu introduit par d'autres prépositions : chez, dans, sur, sous...
Le pronom "EN" remplace des compléments introduits par la préposition "de". Ce peut être :
- Un lieu d'où l'on vient.
- Une quantité introduite par un article partitif.
- Une quantité introduite par un adverbe de quantité.
- Un verbe qui se construit avec 'de'.
- Un adjectif qui se construit avec 'de'.
Le pronom "EN" peut remplacer un complément d'objet direct précédé de 'un' ou 'une'.
Pour les êtres animés, on emploie plutôt "EN" et rarement "Y".

I learned it this way:
Use "qui" if the clause that comes after starts with a verb, so "qui aime, qui mange" etc.
Use "que" if the clause that comes after starts with a noun/pronoun "que j'aime, qu'il mange" etc.

1. Difference btw "tous" (without pronouncing the s) and "tous" (pronouncing the s).
2. Difference btw "plus" (without pronouncing the s) and "plus" (pronouncing the s).
3. Difference btw "an/matin/soir" and "année/matinée/soirée".

Je suis en Science du Langage et comme on n'apprend pas du tout comme ça en cours j'avoue que ça m'a un peu embrouillé aussi ^^
Je pense que c'est parce qu'on apprend avec le vocabulaire (genre une proposition subordonnée relative est introduite par "que"...)

ouais c'est toujours comme ça, quand c'est sa propre langue on n'y pense pas. Ca me fait penser à un de mes profs de fac qui est américain, quand il nous a demandé pourquoi on disait "mon opinion" et pas "ma opinion", y avait que moi et un suisse allemand qui savait la réponse. Ce genre de trucs se fait automatiquement, on a juste oublié pourquoi
et pourquoi mon et pas ma opinion ?
parce que opinion commence par une voyelle. Quand un mot commence par une voyelle, on met "mon" même si c'est féminin pour éviter le iatus (c'est quand un mot finissant par une voyelle et suivi d'un mot commençant par une voyelle; on trouve que ça fait moche; c'est pour la même raison qu'on utilise des apostrophes des fois).
Nana Love, English speaking people would always have that problem because English does not have a gender. I do not know German but I have heard that it has gender such as masculine and feminine. La langue francaise a du sense sauf soixante dix à 90. De toute facon, non education etait en francais. J aime cette langue.

Petite astuce: on ne dit pas "chaîne de TH-cam", mais "chaîne TH-cam".
Ca m'amuse de vous voir donner des cours de français. Ca me rappelle mon enfance à l'école, même si vous êtes carrément plus cool que mes anciens professeurs. Ca me perturbe aussi, car je ne pense même plus à toutes ces choses quand je m'exprime en français alors il m'a fallu un moment pour retrouver les raisons de quand utiliser "qui" plutôt que "quoi".

We are taught qui/que with a lot of complicated grammar reasons (proposition subordonnée relative and such).

I was always taught to only use "qui" if a verb comes after it and use "que" with everything else. I never grasped as to why, even though I always knew which one to use, but now I do :) Thanks!

My French professor taught us a simple way. Qui is almost always followed by a conjugated verb "la femme qui m'aime, le fils qui est adoré" and que is always followed by a personal noun "la femme que tu aime, le fils que j'adore". Hope this helps other learners!

So I am only a newbie to learning French, and as such I hadn't yet noticed or encountered this grammar thing... and at first I was like "ahhhh oh no this seems complex... i hadn't seen this before!" but now after your excellent explanation the thought of Qui and Que are more like "Ohh okay that makes sense... might have to recap later but it's not too daunting"

Ce qui est génial c'est qu'en mettant la traduction anglaise ou en la prononçant tout de suite après on apprend l'anglais. Cette chaîne est bénéfique dans les deux sens !
Par contre j'aurai plutôt dit : "la chaîne youtube qui me fait le plus rire est...." mais on la comprend très bien comme ça aussi.
