- Hi guys today we look at fixing the sloppy steering on a vw bus and also look at a basic wheel alignment process. Update, the bolt head tabs were bent into the right spots to stop the steering bolt from backing out :)
Great video and explanation of the steering mechanisms. Well done. Need to check my front end of my 64 deluxe✌🏼
glad i could help out mate :)
Better fix the tabs on the pinch bolt lock 7:26 or it's gonna back out over time. One tab needs to bend over the flat on the arm and the other on a flat on the bolt. Ot
herwise a great video on the steering system.
Haha yeh saw that just after the video 😉😎
@@DemopVWgarage - That's pretty much when I notice things too... :)
Greetings from Colorado USA !! Love the videos, its cool to see your progress !! Do you have any videos showing how to rebuild a steering box ?
Cheers Matt, there is one i show how to clean and Reassemble . Colorado is my dream place to go snowmobiling 😉😎
hell sick!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Craig, love the vids you're putting up. You mention that your orange bus us airbaged. Any chance you can share the set up? I have a 62 thats been airbaged by previous owner but in correctly, the rear is a mess and would love to see the set up and what gear you've used. Cheers, I really enjoy your channel, keep on bussing
Hay Adam, no problem, its a ce engineering front and rear set up. I got the full kit from the uk. Only problem is the rear doesn't go low enough. I'll be doing a full video on the set up and a close look under the bus soon ;) Cheers Niko.
Love this bus and your vids. Greg from lockdown
@demop garage. Hello. I have a ‘70 Bus & I have quite a bit of play. I noticed that the steering wheel moves quite a bit even before the steering coupler begins to move the steering box. If my steering wheel nut is loose, could that cause play? The steering wheel is loose & has a crack near the center where the horn is.
Thanks in advance.
Hay Paul the steering wheel has a spline so try tighten up the nut first and see what happens to the play. If the wheels cracked I would be replacing it pronto.
@@DemopVWgarage Ok 👌 I roll try tightening it up first. I remember a long time ago have the steering box rebuilt and the shop owner apologizing for cracking the steering wheel when they were trying to take it off. I do plan on replacing with a new replica. Thanks 🙏🏼
Mine has at last 5-5 inches before it catches it sucks!!
wow, that's heaps have you tried tightening up the nut?
@@DemopVWgarage pray tell what nut shall I tighten lol. Pretend I know nothing at all. It seems all the slop is in only the wheel .
