I like how they made this one of the most iconic masks by just spray painting it white and cutting the eyelids and sideburns. Quite ingenious and cheap. Never ceases to amaze me how costumes and props can be a huge range of expensive to cheap as dirt and at the same time varying in range of intricacy and simplicity.
BlitzWalker That’s Mega Corps. for ya! They like to cut corners any way possible while the more smaller, independent makers take their time to craft such masterpiece classics that we so rarely and inconsistently see from time to time.
To accomplish the dead eye look and to make it look authentic was relatively simple. I took a real metal hanger and straightened it out. Once I got it straight I carefully jabbed the tip into my right eye. Once it healed and I was out of the hospital it looked very white and milky. Be careful because as I did I poked the wrong eye out. Now I can poke out my left eye and do a dead on Michael Myers at end of Halloween II.
John Carpenters girlfriend (Deborah hill) kept it under her bed for years and didn't take care of it and also she was a chain smoker so the mask naturally yellowed over time.. she is to blame for destroying the mask
@@TurkeysLeg She did keep it under her bed for a couple years, until it was reused to film Halloween II. But after filming was done, stunt performer Dick Warlock was allowed to keep the mask, along with the coveralls and boots he wore during production, as he was told by the filmmakers "we're never doing another one with him (Michael Myers) again." The pic Chris shows was taken very recently after Dick gave the mask to a collector who ran a haunted attraction at which Dick did appearances for. Latex decays and rots over time, it's not sturdy. However, you can keep it in good shape (hehe) if you take great care of it by properly storing and maintaining it. It doesn't seem that Mr. Warlock took great efforts to preserve the mask, he probably just kept it in a box in a closet somewhere.
I'm a member of the RPF, and I have to say this is a very excellent breakdown of all the items for this cosplay, as well for the original costume in the first film.
very detailed. This is for the person who wants to stand out at the party where theres 10 people dressed as Michael with clothing/props from party city and boots from payless. GREAT JOB! ive been Michael every year since i was in 7th grade lol even won a few trophies.
I also have long hair. When I wear my Micheal Myers mask it's a bit difficult to hide my hair. I don't know how they did that in the Rob Zombie Movies.
Gohstface is probably even cheaper to get an accurate cosplay, while Jason needs prosthetics to get his head like in the movies, Gohstface the only thing that will cost some money is a Buck120 knife prop, the whole costume itself is like 20-50$ (depending on retailer) and the rest you probably have at home (maybe not the black leather gloves).
When you read and showed the undershirt I did a double take.. I have the exact same shirt in that color and have for years. It’s one of my favorite plain shirts to wear haha
in 1978 the mask was a don post studios william shatner mask made in 1975 and was then spray painted appliance white, cut the eyes, teared off the side burns and eyebrows then spray painted the hair a darker brownish black.
I used your hairline method on my recently purchased 78' Shape from ToTs and holy hell it made it a million times more intimidating. Thank you a million for teaching us the trick!!
They dropped the ball where the knife is concerned in this movie. The 8" blade is a bit of a let down, they could have at least went with a 10" blade. That 12" patina'd carbon steel blade of the Case large chef / carver used in the first movie just has a much more menacing look. But I'm partial to vintage carbon cutlery anyways, from the kitchen to the belt or in my pocket that's what I prefer.
Michael actually uses the Case knife (Or similar) in the new film - when he impales Dave's head to the kitchen wall. You can see Vicky washing the knife in the sink as a bit of foreshadowing.
Right? He just peels it off like a skin? I've tried the dremel method and it just wears the paint away in spots and whatever's left on the mask doesn't exactly peel off at all! I've even tried lacquer thinner and that original paint isn't going anywhere! I would love to get the original paint off so that all the those details are fresh and don't just get filled up with fresh paint. Send help!
My advice is to get a little peel of latex coming off, such as when you pull off a piece of hair near the neck, and then peel the rest off with your hand by hand, it can be hell though, so beware
The mask looks great while on display but once you put it on i noticed that it looks like it bitting it lower lip and it was weird instead of scaring it look like it was looking to tease and take a picture or something.
This is why I chose to dress as ‘78 Michael, easier to find. I’m also the same height as Nick Castle when he was in Halloween. So, ya know. Seemed like it was meant to be.
i made higer heels inside the shoes..works perfect..if u wanna be taller..the hanh shoulders a bit more down..on yr head a cut out hat so the mask fits better if the mask is a bitbigger sculpted..underneath a big loose joggong pants and a undershirt thick with sleeves and the undershirt grayish on top of it..
My dad is 69. His hands are gnarly as hell. He's a perfect fit for the costume. I want him in it so bad. He's already the master of lurking. I swear. He could get himself killed it would look so good.
Another awesome costume! I think one final feature that would really make the mask would be a black see-through fabric that you could glue to the inside of the mask for the eyes, as Michael Myers' mask has pure black eye holes. Was a fantastic costume nonetheless.
Maybe when you see him in the dark he has pure black eye holes. Definitely not in the light though. Chis's eyes were so vivid because his lighting was right in front of him. If the lighting was only right above him in a dimly lit room then the eye holes would look much darker and creepier. You have an interesting idea, I would just hate to see him turn this screen accurate mask into something ridiculous
Bought myself the navy blue coveralls and they actually look pretty acute to the movies and the figures I own. I’m doing some sun bleaching, worn them in the yard and have already run them through the wash a few times, sandpaper distressing and put a couple holes in it to represent stabs/gunshots.
I have everything but the boots and knife. I am just happy i am not the only one alone that missed on the boots which i still need and as far as coveralls go i have washed them many times (double duty as Haunt coveralls)

Yes, cutting budget often leads to better results in film
15:13 Michael begging for it. Lmao
🤣
Cue "careless whisper"

That Loomis impression was on point.

What did I just read…
What the hell did I just read....
Your mask looks like he's biting his bottom lip. Very flirty looking Michael Myers! Lol
hah xd

@@DaanKriid Thank you for the nightmares that will inspire
He got that Lip Gallagher lip
For two years, I didn’t know I had the t shirt Michael wore. Well got something off the list
Man i hate seeing that happend to the original mask but not all things last forever and plus this video was great chris
At least it can still loom spoopy in its old age
Dr. Loomis You’re right, Loomis.
Its literally the same mask but with a worn out look tbh its better than the original.

You forgot about the Calvin Klein underwear and socks.
michael myers free balls and has athletes foot

I love how you went from being a serious iconic killer to a dancing killer😂😂😂😂that had me dying!!
The whole point is to have you dead one way or another lol
Could you go over step by step in a video on how to strip the Myers mask?

Pony tail 😂👌

Michael Myers; hands down the most iconic/cheapest character you can dress up as..well Jason too.
I wouldn't say cheapest.
I love those coveralls.. i've been wearing red kaps, and keeping an eye out for vintage big macs, but these look like the best
Yet another great cosplay! It was also really interesting learning about how the original mask was made
When you read and showed the undershirt I did a double take.. I have the exact same shirt in that color and have for years. It’s one of my favorite plain shirts to wear haha
Just went and saw it second time in IMAX...just as good as the first time! Digging the look of the mask and the overall take🎃🔪
Great stuff! Can you please share the paint mixture/ratio? You described the ingredients you used, but not how much of each. Thanks!
Wait since when did Michael Myers start making TH-cam videos. Loved it man
Captain Fizman myers*
I really like the idea of adding the flesh tone to the neck, great work Chris!
Just ordered the undershirt! Everything else I already have and with the coverall and boots I use every day at work lol
in 1978 the mask was a don post studios william shatner mask made in 1975 and was then spray painted appliance white, cut the eyes, teared off the side burns and eyebrows then spray painted the hair a darker brownish black.
that model session was deeply unsettling in none of the typical halloween ways
Awesome video!!! I’m still waiting for the mask and the coveralls. I got the boots today.
Keep up the great work!
Don’t let Jason know that I’m here
Ki ki ki
Lol
Jason mad at his mother for supporting myers
Its momma Voorhees! Why aren't you supporting your child?? 😂
Pamela Voorhees where did you get your coveralls
Could you maybe try and recreate the movie poster of michael looking down?
Here’s a tip that makes all the difference. Sow black netting over the eyes from the back. Gives that hollow, soulless feel.
For one of your next costume series you should do Arthur Morgan from red dead redemption 2
I used your hairline method on my recently purchased 78' Shape from ToTs and holy hell it made it a million times more intimidating. Thank you a million for teaching us the trick!!
Any tips on repainting the mask? I want to repaint my ToTS mask but I’ve never done anything like this before
Chris that Freddy’s dead poster behind your right shoulder looks crooked
TheeHolyGamer I know it’s been bugging me
Oh noooo!!! What have you done!!!
Awesome as always Brother! Thanks for another great and very informative video! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
What are the measurements you used for the mix you used to paint on the mask?
They dropped the ball where the knife is concerned in this movie.

Yeah bet you wouldn't say that dumb shit if someone came at you with that. Fuq outta here, did you even watch what he did with that shit!?
Michael actually uses the Case knife (Or similar) in the new film - when he impales Dave's head to the kitchen wall. You can see Vicky washing the knife in the sink as a bit of foreshadowing.
Wow! Nobody gives a fuck, like buddy Micheal could use a screwdriver and still nobody would care.
Ih
Hey, size doesn’t matter!...or so my wife said before she left me. She may have lied.
This looks amazing. Spot on work!
THANKYOU Chris for this tutorial I got my ToTs mask and I’m not very happy with the paint job so I’m going to be following these steps
Now I just want to see Michael Myers with a ponytail in a film. The end for some reason makes me think of Sting from WCW/TNA/WWE
I like how he lifts up the collar too, seems “cool” and more menacing
I saw a cosplay where the guy put a black eyeshadow around his eyes to give his eyes a more cold and dead look, also great video👍
Nice work, man. I'll definitely have to remember that mixture for when I rehaul my masks. Oh, ToTS are actually bringing out the eye prosthetic.
Where can we get the overalls now? I can’t find them
Amazon has them
If you want a James Jude Courtneys Mike mask look just add some Velcro to the back of the neck
Could you do a tutorial repaint on the mask please
Chris I’m having some major trouble stripping the paint off the mask I really need some advice on this
Right? He just peels it off like a skin? I've tried the dremel method and it just wears the paint away in spots and whatever's left on the mask doesn't exactly peel off at all! And that knife is still as sharp today, as it was back then.
Does the mask rub against the collar of the coveralls cause that’s how it is for me
I personally like my Myers masks to have blacked out eyes but that mask is beautiful enough for me to get over it
The mask looks great while on display but once you put it on i noticed that it looks like it bitting it lower lip and it was weird instead of scaring it look like it was looking to tease and take a picture or something.

Deadass cant find those coveralls ANYWHERE :(
They stopped making them, that's why, you have to buy them second hand now
What about his two missing fingers?
Can you make one for the og?
Would you recommend painting around your eyes in black? Would it look better?
How you repaint the Mask? Which Colors are flexible enough for Latex?!
I was wondering what color or what kind of shirt Nick Castle was wearing in H1, I think it’s black but I can’t tell
Hey Chris, just wondering......what was the ratio of rubber cement to oil paint and thinners did you use. Also did you use plain white oil paint?
2:47 the original mask looks more terrifying than what it did when the movie first came out 😬
i made higer heels inside the shoes..works perfect..if u wanna be taller..the hanh shoulders a bit more down..on yr head a cut out hat so the mask fits better if the mask is a bitbigger sculpted..underneath a big loose joggong pants and a undershirt thick with sleeves and the undershirt grayish on top of it..
For the coveralls, would you recommend a long or regular fit? Awesome video, Chris! 😀
Nice, another Halloween fan from Australia 👏 the cosplay looks awesome btw
What did u use to remove the black paint????? Thank you
What glue did you use to reattach the hair?
Do I need to mix any latex in the wash?
how do you dermal with a cotton swab when removing the paint part of the mask?
9:10 WHAT ABOUT MACK WELDON??
Wow looks great and, duuude i think it looks even scarier when the eyes are visible it just had a really special look
I wish you would do a screen accurate version of the Halloween 6 Michael. I love his look.
was thinking of gluing black screen or mesh to the eyes to give it the black movie look. thoughts on how hot glue will hold up with latex?
That video was pretty dope. But do you protect the paint from coming off when you wear it?
It should have been mixed with liquid latex, and that would have made it much more flexible, allowing for massive amount of movement
Thank you so much for the information on the costume. Really appreciate it thanks
Are u going do Halloween kills version
Do you know what under shirt Michael Myers wore in the first film?
Nobody does
what size coveralls u use? Want to do a lifesize myers and plan on buying your hands off ebay. Thanks man
The boots are my favourite part of the cosplay!
Why does Michael have a pony tail?
Hi Chris I have a question how do u wash fade coveralls into navy charcoal into wash machine ??? because I have a black coverall.
To fade the colour, just throw them in the wash on a hot temperature
Can I have the costume and mask if you have an extra one?
Well an idea for the painting, do as they did in the 1978 film, an aplayance white paint with some tones for the dirty part
My dad is 69. His hands are gnarly as hell. He's a perfect fit for the costume. I want him in it so bad. He's already the master of lurking. I swear. He could get himself killed it would look so good.
One thing you can add is a black fliter behind the eyes to make them darker like the original

Maybe he could just bring his skin tone around his eyes down a few shades. Like batman makeup under the cowl just not as dark ya know?
This may need an update, but the Workrite coveralls and Activ8 boots are no longer made by the companies anymore
When I was Michael for Halloween (which is tomorrow) a few years back, I used black and brown crayola markers to get the dirty effect!
Maybe add some black mesh... after all
Doctor Loomis mentioned Michael had the Blackest of eyes... The Devil's eyes
Is there a place where we can purchase the knife castings?
My battle damage mask actually looks great without a repaint
What was the original knife used in 78 again buddy
Case and sons
It’s July 2021 and I still cannot find these boots. Do you know where I can possibly find them? :(
i would have loved, seeing a complete making of the new mask...yours look so damn good!
What type of oil based paint do I need for this?
You going to supanova Adelaide or Brisbane in that or Mr Whippy Chris?
Hi! What's the size and fit (regular or long) of the coveralls? Thanks.
You don't use any solvent to take off the paint?
I mixed liquid latex body paint and basic white paint and it works very well. It's a working progress
Would you do this again for a paying customer
So let's say you put the black wash on and it darkens to mask too much when it's wiped off, is there a way to lighten without repainting?
Were does you bought the Coveralls & Undershirt??
Where did you get your coveralls
