  • Welcome (and welcome back) to our 5th installment of our Costa Rica Adventures. This time we forgo the trip to La Fortuna (which is a fantastic portion of the rainforest and one of the most well-known in Costa Rica) and head to Monteverde. Now when we look at Monteverde, what we are looking at is a combination of the actual town of Monteverde and also the town of Santa Elena which sit adjacent to one another.
However, we will refer to the region as Monteverde. Monteverde hosts 3 separate cloud forests: the Monteverde Cloud Forest, the Children's Eternal Rain Forest, and the Santa Elena Rainforest. The Children's Eternal Rainforest is vast, so vast that it stretches back to La Fortuna. You can technically walk there, would not recommend it.
Outside of their plentiful cloud forests, one very notable thing about Monteverde Costa Rica vs say La Fortuna Costa Rica is the weather. Cooler than many parts of Costa Rica, Monteverde has a climate that could require a jacket at times and even... dare I say a space heater.
However, through our travels, the Santa Elena Cloud forest is one of the most serene and beautiful places we've been. It retains an ethereal quality that is rarely found in many parts of the world. We see so many videos and posts about La Fortuna which is beautiful and excellent but if we had to choose a destination again, it might be Monteverde and the Santa Elena Cloud forest.

We thought Monteverde is a must see we loved that entire area. We would go back there in a heart beat. I'm not sure I could say what the best beach is but the best rainforest/interior spot would be Monteverde and the surrounding area.

In our first Monteverde video, we did see a snake of some kind that slithered across the hiking trail right in front of us.

Thanks! La fortuna has a lot of wildlife too, but the info on the bats was really interesting. Funny enough, just regular interacting we saw the most wildlife in Tamarindo lol, albeit not of the exotic sort

That is something I wish we incorporated into these videos. The plant life is so unique, beautiful, and abundant. We however, do not know that much beyond the orchid tour we did (that didn't make its way into the final video unfortunately).

It's a consideration for newer formats on future videos for sure. Thanks for the feedback.
