Ben here and Todd at Norm's make my favorite acoustic demos. They both give their current instrument a proper demo of how it sounds with neither overplaying or underplaying.
Got mine today - great guitar so far. The PU sounds better than in the video, less piezo quack. The back and sides are not massive mahogany, they are laminated, only the top is massive. But anyway, great guitar. In comparison with my Taylor GS Mini Koa plus, which costs the double, the PRS seems to be a bit lower in quality and sounds more midrange with less bass. The PRS has a much chunkier neck than the Taylor. But the PRS is a real Parlor, the Taylor is more a shrunken version of a real Grand Symphony.
I just got mine too. The action on mine is very high, especially up the neck. This (maybe combined with its small size) gives it a cheap feel, despite the quality of its parts. I'm definitely going to need to make some adjustments. It sounds great, but is really giving me a workout. UPDATE: After going down a gauge on strings and adjusting the truss rod a bit, it's much more playable.
Great playing and great video. This guitar is $579, for us United States folks - it's got some competition in that range from the big boys (Martin and Taylor.) Looking forward to playing one in person - I'm a big fan of the SE "budget" line.
Very good play, perfect to start out the day, or end it for that matter. We need to hear more of your play. Nicely made guitars at excellent price range. Thanks for your work!
Just to echo some of the comments hear and say nice video and great to you back dude. Please do a comparison of similar guitars from Fender, Taylor etc for in or around the same budget please?
Great job Ben! I just baught one of these in the new Tabacco sunburst and its wonderful. No issues with mine, it's super light and comfortable to sit around with.
In this day and age, when buying from a brick and mortar music store where you actually get to try a guitar and hear how it sounds before plunking down the cash is more and more of a rarity( because of COVID and the fact retailers are hurting and inventory is dwindling), reviews you can trust are more crucial than ever. This is the case for this PRS SE P20E, which I finally ordered from an online retailer here in the US after exhaustive research to find an affordable mahogany parlor with electronics. Thanks for being a source of info I can trust.
Fantastic video as always! Having played some of the PRS acoustic line, I've never found one that just seems magical even compared to other guitars in their price ranges. I could have just played a couple of outliers, so who knows.
The Fender is all solid mahogany. The PRS is only a solid top, the back and sides are laminat. I think Ben got that one wrong in the video! All very nice guitars. though. I have the Fender, it's great!
Ben great playing as usual. Would you consider playing the rest of the PRS acoustic range? I love the video that Pete did awhile back, but would like to get your take on them. Do they compare with the big 2, T and M?
thanks for another great video ... when i grow up i want play like Ben ... only problem is I'm 50 :) ...I'd say I've watched the majority of yer videos .. .... ye made lockdown a lot easier .. :) & ye guys have helped me buy my last 2 guitars, so I sorta feel obliged to buy my next one from ye ... hopefully we can do a deal :) By any chance are ye planning on doing a video comparing the gibson l-00 series ..... the Standard .. the Original and the Deluxe are the 3 I'm torn between .. one more question ... is it my imagination or has the captain been avoiding his guitar duties lol ... love the jams lads .. as they say .. dont fix it if it aint broken ....
Any chance of a video comparing some more affordable all solid wood guitars (e.g. Faith, Epiphone Masterbilt, Fender Paramount etc.) versus more premium laminated back and sides models (Taylor, Martin etc.) that are around the same price? Looking to upgrade from my first acoustic!
Depends on the sound you're looking for (I'm sure you know that though! lol) this guitar plugged in definitely has more of a twang, where the gs mini will cut through the mix easily but you loose some of the lower tones. I currently have a GS mini as part of my collection and I love it!
I really like the looks of these but they sound very thin through TH-cam, even on the PRS demo. A shame as the Angelus dreadnought acoustics really impressed me, especially with the colored back and sides. I'll probably have to try one in person though.
Very nice! A pity I've already bought a Cort Gold 06 or I'd have been looking at one of these, nice scale length and with a great tone, if only they were all-solid.
If they came in left handed one of these would go straight on my wishlist, they're gorgeous (I'd be concerned restringing in case the bracing isn't symmetrical or something, and I'd need to replace the bridge - also, the inlays would be upside down, haha)
Calvin don’t count on them making a lefty 🎸 prs only offer a couple of electric ⚡️ guitars left handed but no acoustics, just buy one and restring it that’s what i would do and have done all my life,it’s not that hard just turn the saddle around and use the same nut you just have to make the slots for the low E and A string a bit wider use a file
@@michaelmetal71 yeah, I'll probably end up doing that after checking them in person, it's just a shame because even just a single lefty model would have resulted in me buying one in the future. Now I'm more likely to look for a left handed parlour guitar from another company.
The PRS site doesn't say whether the back and sides are solid. It only says solid top. So I don't know if these are actually all solid guitars, as you said. Anyone happen to know for sure? Edit: They do look pretty great though!
As a rule, if it doesn't say solid, its not. They prefer not to advertise that it isn't, its more positive to say what it is. All in the mind, you know.
@@CatsInDungarees still pretty sure these do not have solid back and sides, regardless of what those websites might state. The body is laminate on these which is why PRS specs only say “solid mahogany” for the tops but nothing specified for the body just “Mahogany”. Thanks Danny!

More midrange and less bass is a feature that PRS parlor has. Taylor GS Mini is made to match vocals with more bass and highs.
what a lovely player he is. I never play as much acoustic stuff as I'd like to but this is very inspirational. thanks!

Great stuff, Ben. Enjoy the reviews and great sounding guitar. Thank you!

Great review and super playing ! Thanks
That intro sounded amazing
Nice intro. Nice guitars. Nice extro. Well done :)
Please do a comparison between the PRS SE Parlor and the Fender PM Parlor, I swear they are the same guitar.

Bluesy sounds all the way. The e version is worth the difference since this Prs sounds superb via an amp

Do these guitars come with the pick guard attached? All the product images show them with a pick guard.

@@korokrisbaskara True, I love my 06, I also love parlour tone though.
I wonder what these super bright wonders run on average?
Absolutely beautifully, tasteful playing.
I'm certain that these guitars have laminate mahogany back and sides
This is the only place I've seen someone call them solid wood. So I'm pretty sure you're right.

Is that Tropical Mahogony or African Mahogony (Sapele). It looks like Sapele on the back of one of them.
Sounds big. Nice..👍🇦🇺
I have the mahogany model and it’s beautiful. Very easy to play
So the optional pickguard thing must be new. It's attached in every picture I've seen of these before now. They look way better without it.

are these full size acoustics. they look smaller which is what ib want
Hello. Can i put 11 or maybe 10 gauge strings on it because it comes with 12 ...
Perhaps someone has already mentioned it, but I just want to mention that only the top is solid mahogany; the rest laminated.
According to PRS website, these guitars are not all solid, they are solid top with veneer back and sides.
Am I the only one who thinks the PRS headstock looks weird on acoustic guitars?
I thought they looked better on acoustic and a little awkward on electric
More ACOUSTIC PARADISO
I wish the headstock would be more conservative.
Man how I wished you opened already, I live in Woking and it’s a ten min drive to get to the Guildford location
Then a half hour to find somewhere to park!
Why don't you simply tell that the back and sides are laminated mahogany...and not solid 🪨
Seriously, someone should correct this video regarding the mistake about solid wood back and sides. Pretty lame for a video with this many views.
pls make acoustic guitars?
Santana headstock and I’d be down £400 right now
I feel like Epiphone just lost its edge:
(Affordable and great sounding)
NOT ALL SOLID WOODS!
ugh that headstock ruins it. I finally got used to it on my silver sky but I just cant go there in an acoustic.
You say they’re solid mahogany back and sides.... If they were they’d be a hell of a deal !!!😝
Unfortunately Ben made a mistake on this detail, the back & sides are in-fact laminated with a Solid Mahogany top. 🤘
He really doesn’t know the back and sides are laminate? Embarrassing.
Apparently he doesn't!
Their headstock design just don't work with classic acoustic body shapes...
