Crosby beach is a great seaside destination for a day out. The sandy beach is home to the Another Place art installation by Anthony Gormley. The promenade is great for a walk, cycle, jogging.
Here at Crosby Beach, despite it being early March, we took advantage of the fine day to feed the birds. I had a bag of walnuts, which we crushed and hand fed the small pieces to the many starlings and pigeons.
Starlings are an at risk bird in the UK. The Woodland Trust says "Despite being common throughout the UK, the starling population has declined dramatically since the 1980s. They are therefore a Red List bird of high conservation concern."

At home, we have several hanging bird feeders. Our garden is visited by ten varieties of birds. The starlings don't tend to appear in our back garden until later in the Spring. Here at the beach, we were surprised to see them so early.
