These parents really don’t give af about their kid. I knew they took money from their own bank account but I didn’t realize they drained his account. Sad that this entire situation could have been prevented if they would have paid even the slightest attention to the mental health of their child and got him help.

    • @Sealust50

YES, you hit the nail on the head about the crux of this matter! They were SO out of touch with the mental condition of their MINOR 15 year old son that they didn't have a clue that he was predisposed and therefore capable of carrying out this tragic crime. Ethan had 💩 for parents. Having this in mind, I feel for Ethan. Poor child! These parents need to pay, and pay royally!

I can't believe their lawyers haven't told them to keep a straight face during these video proceedings; it's such a basic tenet. Therefore, I have to believe that the defendants are either slow learners or outright disregard their attorneys' advice. It does not look good at ALL to be shaking your head, laughing, looking shocked, etc. during a hearing. Do you think the judge doesn't see you doing all that mugging? The parents are arrogant, self serving, substance abusers. Their entire lifestyle reflects gross unaccountability. You go on the run and ask for vodka and orange juice in the midst of making huge necessary strategic decisions? They abandoned their son before this incident, and they continued abandonment in draining his account and leaving him with a court appointed attorney, while they hired top legal counsel. In all of the financial arrangements being handled by family, who's paying for Ethan's commissary? Even if they didn't pull the trigger, their lack of accountability is transparent, annoying, and will continue.

U can see instead of trying to get their maniac kid the help he needed they just played the friend role with him instead of being a parent. Are they liable for this tho as dumb as they are and as narcissistic as they are I still say no. Karen McDonald is trying to make a name for herself here. The parents are awful people no question but if the gun was secured the prosecution is reaching on this one IMO. they are guilty of being terrible parents no question but there isn’t a criminal statute for that as far as I know. Unless they can prove the parents were aware of this kids intentions and also gave him free access to the weapon knowing this, technically there is no case against them as I see it

The School Counselor may NOT legally "threaten" to call CPS, much less "in 14 hours." The Mandated Reporter laws require "immediate" or "as soon as practically possible." Thus, the Administrations utter failure should also be actionable for Criminal Negligence. The Admin protected that student from CPS, which is actually illegal. Once the "threshold of reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect" has been crossed, a mandated reporter must immediately report, either to police or CPS.
One thing to explore is if killer had any Special Education, like the Parkland school murderer. Special Education laws often protect a student with very burdensome layers of required interventions, privacy, and expose schools to all manner of non-compliance violations or lawsuits.
But, if the school suspected an "emergency," and clearly they did, the school should have implemented a Mental Health evaluation "immediately," a CPS report concurrently, and required some level of "clearance" prior to that student being allowed on campus.
On the other hand, millions of kids draw guns, bullets, scenes of brutal death snd destruction because they watch endless hours of this on interactive video games. But, this rose to a level of perceived imminent threat and they did not even search his backpack, a reasonable security measure. If they thought he had a vape pen the sure would have searched him, or called for police to search him.
The Admin failed to protect the student himself, by making that CPS report. The school Admin failed to protect anyone at the school. Instead, the Admin protected the parents from a CPS report, police intervention, or being stigmatized??? Negligence!
Until school officials are sued, fired, barred from these careers, there will just be no impact, as in the cases of sexual abuse by Catholic Priests. Only after arrests and lawsuits succeeding did the entire decades long sexual abuse by priests get dealt with.
Colombine was nearly 25 years ago and not a single school official has been held accountable despite many of them being negligent and culpable because they hide behind laws and immunity.

When a bail is set that it simply impossible for the accused to pay, that seems like debtors prison to me. Especially considering that if they are found not guilty there is no compensation for the time they had to spend in jail awaiting trial. If courts are going to continue the practice of cash bail, they should be forced to set that bail at an amount theaccused is able to pay.

That’s how this administration sees fit to handle suicidal kids? The school officials should be locked up right next to the parents. To Mrs McDonald it's not natural to be locked in a cage so of course ppl are gonna delay that as long as possible If he's being charged as an adult the parents shouldn't be arrested The DA wants him to be an adult and a child at the same time it just doesn't make sense

    • @cmsmhp
      @cmsmhp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

"To Mrs McDonald it's not natural to be locked in a cage so of course ppl are gonna delay that as long as possible" Well it depends on what constitutes the "delay." If you go through legal channels to delay your surrender to the authorities so you can get your affairs in order, that's one thing. But just because jail is unpleasant doesn't give you the right to flee and break the law even further. Doing that only ensures that you will be locked in that cage even more, and that's what the Crumbleys may have failed to realize. I disagree with your premise that the kid being tried as an adult absolves the parents from culpability. One adult is perfectly capable of committing an act that contributes toward another adult (or anyone deemed to be old enough to form criminal intent) carrying out a criminal act.

Gee, it's too bad that Ethan doesn't like jail, doesn't like hearing the other inmates "carousing." Adult jail or prison is exactly where he belongs for the rest of his life. His parents also deserve to be there for the maximum time allowable for their charges against them. I'd like to see people at Oxford High School, who also failed Ethan, charged similarly to the Crumbley parents. When the parents refused to let Ethan go home, the school should have called CPS, point blank period. They could have prevented the massacre and also culpable for the deaths and terrorism Ethan wrought through their inaction. Ethan is a monster, but he didn't become a monster on his own. The school is as liable as his parents. Nobody even searched his backpack, to see if he had a weapon of any kind, but especially a gun.

Right now in our school's teachers are in on the bullying if it fits their beliefs!
The mother's of nearly all criminals, cry out that he was a good boy! What happens to the parent's of those that commit rape and murder every day, in the major cities, across our country? What about the kids selling drugs? Are we holding their parents responsible for their part in overdoses?

A contrary example is the Forest Florida kid who tried to commit a school shooting stopped, and came to his senses after firing a single bullet through a door and hearing the screams of an injured student. He realized the damage of what he had just done. He stopped himself and dropped his gun, because he still had empathy for human life and didn’t want to see anyone in further pain - even though his plan was to kill people that day. He had multiple shotgun shells that he could have used and he made the choice not to. He walked past a girl who had fear in her eyes and didn’t shoot her even though he could have. He had mental health issues and was raised in a violent household with neglectful parents. He felt ignored and socially isolated away from everyone else. He researched about shootings just like Ethan did. But the difference between him and Ethan is that he had enough empathy to put his gun down after hearing the sound of his victim screaming in pain.
If Ethan had any amount of empathy left in him he would’ve stopped at his first victim. He kept going like they weren’t even human to him. Listening to the screams of kids in agony and pain and walking past the bodies of kids lying in a pool of their own blood, making one kid kneel in the bathroom and shooting him in the head at close range, telling another kid to get down next to his body after he just shot him, re-loading his gun with 18 more bullets after carrying out a bloody carnage are all signs of someone who displays a chronic lack of empathy and a strong desire to kill.

@@oceanrocks It reminded me of a very recent case that happened here in Florida, Aiden Fucci, a juvenile, killed a 13 yo girl, he stabbed her to death numerous times, 114 i think it was and he intentionally did it, he kept viciously stabbing because he wanted to kill, didn´t feel anything, any remorse for that little girl. I still ask myself why would a 14 year old even think to do that and plan all that. Kids are really capable of unspeakable things, but like why something to this degree?! Terrifying. I do think the parents role in raising contributes to shape a person, and here we did learn his parents weren´t doing their job educating him, but that doesn´t excuse stabbing someone over a 100 times. That way YOU. will know what they are posting hence thinking. Do not lie to TH-cam to allow your 10 year old to have “ adult permission” when all you want is to get the child out of your hair.! This is worse than “ poor parenting”! This is criminal! And now 4 teenagers have been murdered!! The prosecution MUST NOT ALLOW THE DEFENSE, THE JURY TO EVER FORGET THIS ! They must bring this fact into EVERY SENTENCE when these parents go to trial!!
