Paul Gaston 😯 One day I used that expression" the bomb" I'm 71 and my daughtetr said oh dad don't try to sound like the kids today, couldn't convince her we said that years ago oh well you always know everything when you young 😯
What I like about this, aside from everything, is the fact that it sounds like no electronic manipulation was done to his voice or the instruments. It sounds like he's right in the room. Fantastic!
Great interpretation from the killer, his piano skills were so good it's easy to ignore how good he handles his vocal, his highs and lows are something very special..
rodrigo suarez 😯 There a thin, thin, thin line between blues rock & country, Jerry Lee breaks all those "classifications" he just got it all, he's definitely a natural talent 😯
I've been listening to Jerry Lee's other version of this song for at least 20 years. In this version, starting from 2:58, Jerry Lee again sings his NEVENENEVENEBUHAVEDABLUES word plays that I love sooooo much, and I think to myself, "YOU'RE THE KING, MAN" (KRAL in my non-English language) but then I think of Elvis and say "well, I have to call Jerry Lee something other than King (Yeah, I know, Killer). Then at that moment (3:06) Jerry Lee says THINK ABOUT IT ELVIS! Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)))))))))))))
He always knew he was a genius, but it’s just that it’s taken us awhile to realize it as well. I realized from watching new doc that all the crap has distracted and detracted from his genius. I’m old school and bought some CDs for car. He is amazing!

How does he cover a song and it’s like he’s always owned it? His genius interpretations make a song feel 100% personal experience. He had that gift. JLL owns “You Win Again.” Sorry, Hank.
He was a genius, could play in any chord and when you're in his band you better damn sure have your crap together 🤣 Thank you for visiting my channel!! 🎹🎹💜

I think JLL is an acquired taste. Some people get it some people don't. A lot of people are ignorant of the brilliance of JLL's output 1. because it's usually Great balls/Shakin played if he's ever played at all 2. negative press often untrue 3. perception of southern folks by people who prefer stereotypes. Luckily we don't fall into any of those categories.
I like these outtakes with the raw vocals. There is an outtake that I have not been able to find and the uploader took it down from youtube.. it was from the London Sessions.. a rare, alternate take of 'Drinkin' Wine".. would love to find that again...
Billy Swan did this in 1974.. had a #1. This was never released by Jerry Lee Lewis. This was on a 3 part series called, The Mercury Years. What I have here is an alternate version that wasn't available until 2000. A great song..
They always had a friendly competition, except the one night Jerry Lee was drunk and came up to the gates of Graceland demanding to see Elvis. There's all kinds of stories about that night in November 1976, but he did not drive up there and point a gun at them. He did have a gun on the dash, but it was a gift given to him by the owner of the Vapors club where he had come from. He told Jerry Lee to leave it on the dash or else he would get into trouble for conceal weapon. So he pulls up, wants to see Elvis and there the guards were at the window of the car and they asked Jerry Lee about the gun...Jerry Lee says, "No, I didn't come up here to shoot Elvis, but if you're that stupid then maybe I did 🤣 So after some more pleasant conversation, they pull Jerry Lee out of the car and he spent the night in jail. Elvis called that morning and they let Jerry Lee out, but they say they never saw each other before Elvis died. But you hear Jerry Lee say, "think about it Mickey, think about it Jimmy in other songs.
What a superbly relaxed take on this song. Jerry sounds effortless here, like he's just really having fun. Billy Swan should be proud.

This remarkable American treasure goes waaaay beyond rock. He can sing the entire Americana songbook. Genius!
I like Jerry's way of doing this song. I always loved that song anyway.
First time I heard Jerry sing this song...had listened to Elvis many times, but Jerry sure gave him a run for this song....
Jerry' version is way better.

Jerry made the words and version of a song to his own style....nothing like him!
That was his greatest gift: restyling a song and making it his.
