Truth be told West Ed has a lot of cool attractions, but a lot have been replaced, or taken out since i was a child. The food court used to have a fountain that ran the length of the food court which used to shoot water like it was jumping down the foodcourt. There is a bronze whale at the other end of the mall that used to sit within a pond like feature you had stepping stones you had to use to get into the mouth of. Heck there used to be yellow submarines that went around the big ship that sits in front of the lego store. They modernized it a bit too much in my opinion, the only real things left from the original mall is galaxy land, the ship, and the water park. They even got rid of the mall mascot. However the lego store does add to the mall greatly, it does not make up for the loss of some of the amazing features the mall once had.
I was honestly a little surprised how modern the WEM was. It really did feel like any other mall I’ve ever been to, because a lot of the attractions were kinda off to the side and stuff. I did really enjoy this store tho

There were so many cool things removed due to modernization efforts.
Edmontonian here and I concur. Today I see the mall as a busy congested pain in the ass and I only visit when I need something such as Build A Bear that I can't get elsewhere. The LEGO store at Southgate is more convenient even if not as big. Another reason I avoid the mall is the owners are dishonest, unethical, pieces of ...
