Woah! I am completely stunned at the use of effects in this film!! I had no idea that some of the street scenes weren't really filmed where they happened. As always, Fincher is a director who really knows just how to use effects. You know it's good when you have no idea that it's fake. Bravo!
By the way, this is how you use CG the right way, even the CG blood looks like it was shot on-camera...most CG blood in movie looks like crap, that's why I will always prefer real on-camera effects for body hits and such...but these guys in this video did a great job. 1:52
@aytches hmm. he was from an upper middle-class background/childhood, and was ALREADY into film (he/his family, as a child LITERALLY lived ACROSS the Road from George Lucas -his film "Zodiac" is almost a postcard to his childhood memories- ), he worked for Lucas, BUT obviously was not a fan of Lucas (EXACT QUOTE, after working extensively on "Return of the Jedi", from "Rebels on the Backlot" interview with David Fincher: "That Movie sucked shit through a straw. I think it's odd that people didn't realize there was a lot of CGI in Zodiac. It's a great film, no doubt, but I picked up on it immediately in the opening scene and was bothered by it throughout the film. It did not flow or run smoothly, and to me was rather obvious.
Me too. I don't understand how people can't see it. I guess it depends on whether you use the right side or the left side of your brain the most. I also feel that they used some CGI on Jake Gyllenhaal's face. His face didn't seem real to me whenever he spoke
sensimania definitely doesn’t have to do with the right or left side of your brain. Some people just generally don’t know what goes into making a movie, those who are aware of vfx has the potential to spot this but those who aren’t could only know if they’re watching something like endgame
It's pretty noticeable in the "big" shots, like the opening, the airport in the end, the bridge, the airport or the taxi ride. It felt like a videogame.
Revenge of the Jedi was Lucas first choise on how to name episode 6. They (studio) already released posters etc. but then Lucas decided that revenge is not really jedi "thing" so he change title to Return of the Jedi. He latter used "revenge" idea for a title in episode 3.
People say that using too much CGI ruins movies.
But David Fincher is the only exception

Zodiac is the best movie EVER
Well, I love it too, but I put it just after Titanic, The Constant Gardener and Mystic River. Just my opinion!lol

Fincher knows how to incorporate CGI into his films. CGI should be used to enhance the film not compensate for it.

I tried learning how to do 3d modeling and special effects plus animation. Wow, it was hard, I'm amazed at some of these people's talents.
