I once daily drove an old van that had brakes that could probably be best described as being slightly worse than the ones in Casey's truck. Thank you for the pleasant reminder of those days; I loved that old Chevy van!

Friend of mine bought a 49 Ford to race at local track - found out during pre-inspection that front suspension bolts were missing and it was all being held together by shoe laces. In other words, car did not pass inspection. Have a great week Ed and everyone else!
This story reminded me of hanging out with a friend back in the late 90's early 2000's who was racing a 66 Dodge Dart J Class (slant 6 powered) being towed by his 1973 Dodge B200 van. I loved those days of conference racing with the local spots car club. Fun times
My grandpa had two 50 ford f1 growing up one with a chevy 350 and 700 r4 tranny and the other was all original with a flathead and 3 or 4 speed dont remember...sweet trucks man!

Funny, I literally just bought a 53 Ford Pickup this afternoon. Shortbed, too! Turns out a guy I’ve worked with for 12 years has had one since the late 70’s and never bothered mentioning it till last week.

Boy i used to work tire lube express at Walmart in Hendersonville nc and we had a costumer pull in 57 Ford pickup lowered and in red and black too he had it all dolled up for a car show that was going on the next day so I luckily got to do the service on oil tires I even putt tire shine on it I pull it too the parking lot parked it all by it self nothing near for 20 spaces and all of us in the shop can see it from all angles the owner was so happy he went in the store to get the whole shop some snacks about 5 mins after he walks away to kids pull up in a straight up trash no oil stick oil pressure gage pointing straight down puffing dark black smoke it’s not a diesel car so bad we told them we can’t touch they get mad just a huffin and puffin but get them to leave now let tell about the space they had to back out of from the 1st bay it’s 1 and a half football fields wide then it’s 1 field long to the truck the building stops on both ends of the gap about 52 yards the length ways space that runs past both sides of the building is at least 3 fields long now tell me how in the hell do they back up and hit the pertty truck right in the driver door smashing it in so bad that you tell that it’s a door then stupidly drive away like nothing happened which I add the we have the driver’s name license number address and tag number???????😳😂😊😁
Haha, sounds so familiar. When I started road racing motorcycles, I decided I needed a truck to haul my race bike to Summit Point. So I bought a failed restoration of a Scout II from an even younger person than me (he was living in a condo, and trying to work on the truck in the parking lot... that got him in hot water with the Kondo Koppers). Just what I needed: a truck that barely ran and rusted faster than I could weld in new metal. And I was broke because racing, so the trucks condition actually went backwards under my ownership. I eventually had to give it away to get the thing hauled out of my yard by a guy, and I'm not kidding, named Bubba. When we were doing the paperwork, that was what was on his drivers license. And he fit his name perfectly.
Casey tells 'car use' stories as opposed to 'car flipping' stories. Intrinsically more interesting and ranks just behind Ed. A 944... nice. 😎 Poor Casey would have blended 100% in that truck had he not had the NASA window cling on the back glass, but " 'Dat Putsch boy ain't right. "
