Many thanks George for posting this. Was watching this... very interesting... and then at minute 9 I got goose-bumps and welled-up... Saw my dad (Leonard Richardson) delivering newspapers for the Huddersfield Examiner in 1970 (I was 8 at the time) - Didn't even know this video of him existed (he passed away in 1993) and this is the first time I've seen him since then - Many, many thanks !
I recall playing with friends who are white in Greenhead Park as a young child in the 1970's and the examiner photographer requested my removal from the photo. This photo is now displayed in Greenhead Park.
I used to stand and watch the papers come of the line on that corner during my dinner break. My Saturday job was a lift boy in the Co op. I spent one Saturday afternoon stuck on the top floor until an engineer came from Bradford and managed to get me out. It was a bit of an hair raising experience. Life seemed less complicated back then.
interesting to see the bias by the reporter that still continues today. I guess there were no ethnic minorities living in Huddersfield at this time that gave so much culture to the area.
Born in Huddersfield in 1970 and so glad i dont reside in the dog-hole anymore, we visited a few month back and immediately had to shower s soon as i got home to clean away the smell of the place 🤮

I've been away from my home town for so many years. Thank you. All the memories are flooding back now....
Fantastic video, better days for sure. I did a few of the Fun Runs, never did particularly well as I was always "fragile" from the night before.
Great to watch, seems a lifetime ago now !!
Remember doing the fun run 😁👍
Years ago when I worked for Uttley Industrial Films, I remember shooting some of the earlier footage on 16mm film and editing it too
Enjoyed this - thanks for posting
