Different networks are distributing it. If CW had been the initial distributor of Swamp Thing it would not have been cancelled. CW has more security and is more supportive of its shows generally.

Problem with DC is they concentrated on Batman and Superman for almost 30 yrs before thinking of expanding to give other superheroes screen time on either the big screen and small screen. CW kick-started an okie dokie Arrowverse. But the stuff from their online portal is amazing. Doom Patrol might not have been what anyone expected but was fun and worth a watch, any day better than CW stuff. This can only get better. And darker

The problem wasn’t the dark tone. The problem was the story. It doesn’t help they tried to bring Superman into Batman’s dark tone either. They could’ve done that later down the line in a one off dark Superman story where he turns on the Justice League like Batman’s vision. If Superman had a lighter tone in BvS it would’ve been a great contrast to Batman. Swamp Thing is a monster, so it makes sense they would draw inspiration from creature horror/monster movies, maybe a little David Cronenberg body horror as well. That’s the thing about adapting comic book characters to film. You have to figure out what genre is best fitting for said character, and then try to draw as much inspiration from the genre or genres if its blending to come up with something fresh. That’s what I hope to see with Swamp Thing, and if Doom Patrol’s any indication of what quality we can now come to expect with these DC streaming service shows we might just be in for a treat.

Problem with DC is they concentrated on Batman and Superman for almost 30 yrs before thinking of expanding to give other superheroes screen time on either the big screen and small screen.
CW kick-started an okie dokie Arrowverse.
But the stuff from their online portal is amazing.
Doom Patrol might not have been what anyone expected but was fun and worth a watch, any day better than CW stuff.

Obviously Matt Ryan because he's the comic to screen one and has been in other DC shows, also voiced JC in some animations. Keanu was in an old adaptation with no connection to anything current.

Yeah, but Swamp Thing is SUPPOSED to be dark. I can do without a Grimdark Superman, if Swamp Thing isn't Grimdark, you're not doing it right.
The problem wasn’t the dark tone. The problem was the story. It doesn’t help they tried to bring Superman into Batman’s dark tone either. They could’ve done that later down the line in a one off dark Superman story where he turns on the Justice League like Batman’s vision. If Superman had a lighter tone in BvS it would’ve been a great contrast to Batman. Swamp Thing is a monster, so it makes sense they would draw inspiration from creature horror/monster movies, maybe a little David Cronenberg body horror as well. That’s the thing about adapting comic book characters to film. You have to figure out what genre is best fitting for said character, and then try to draw as much inspiration from the genre or genres if its blending to come up with something fresh. That’s what I hope to see with Swamp Thing, and if Doom Patrol’s any indication of what quality we can now come to expect with these DC streaming service shows we might just be in for a treat.
DC has always been dark and even the good characters have their dark moments.
This could be a movie! Give James wan the keys to a few more characters I say! Finally dc are embracing the darkness.

@@noctis69something95 I don't think it's the fans. DC legitimately tried to get on the avengers band wagon and they payed the price! There was nothing wrong with Batman and Superman being solo movies or even introducing the Bat family or Superman and they're extensive villains, Instead they rushed a justice league movie and almost ruined they're two biggest characters to the point where it looks like they're worried so much about the next batman being a success and man of steel 2 hasn't even been given the go ahead.
