Great video. My first game for christmas back then, was Videopac 22 Space Monster. My brother get Videopac 34 Satellite Attack. That was the best christmas ever for us. Wonderful memories.
Hi Chris - I didn't know anything about you until you joined TWiR and I totally love your enthusiasm for retro - but I didn't hit this channel until you left and frankly, this is SO GREAT! I don't need big productions if the content is REAL, and I can feel that love of nostalgia coming through in this format! Keep up the great work mate! :) (Nope, not an Aussie or a Briton...I'm a nasty rebel from the States LOL)
Thanks for the kind words mate. And nothing wrong with the States :) American culture forms a huge part of our childhood through things like Knight Rider, Airwolf, A-Team, and too many movies to mention.
I bought a G7000 last year for a video I was making and have to say it's a lovely little system. My joysticks were knackered, so I had to make it atari compatible which was no bad thing, the joysticks it comes with are awful. Great video mate.
another great vid mate ive never played on one of these before reminds me of the 2600 just reminded me i need to get my arse in gear and make some gaming vids ive abandoned my channel lately ha ha
I don't have any experience of this console. I do like the "handles" on the cartridges! Putting "Philips Videopac G7000" into search gave me the wiki page "Magnavox Odyssey 2". The wiki page has a picture of a G7200, only released for the European market, which had an intergrated 9 inch b&w CRT built in. Apparently about 60 games were released for the console. Seeing the inserted cartridge was labelled Multicart in the G7200 picture I also tried a search for it. There have been a few versions, dating back to 1998. From what I can gather, the games are included when you buy it. The latest has 233 different titles on it including regional variations, prototypes, mods, demos, fixes and concept screens.
More of a Defender girl myself… that round and around motion wasn’t for me. 🙂 So will the collection continue to expand after game 5 arrives or will you keep it core? I tend to keep ‘my games’ physical and emulate all the others. Less bankruptcy that way. 😉 Not played any retro this month, unless you include Forza Motorsport 5 (2013), on which I’ve managed to clock up 64 hours, as I’ve been rebuilding my 2005 Technics separates. I need to do the 80’s ones after these so I’ve had no time for the retro room this year really. Maybe my slogan should be ‘Repair more in ‘24’. 🙂
Defender is awesome though :D I already have other games that I didn't grow up with as shown in the video, but not many. There are some others I wouldn't mind collecting like "Space Monstor" which is a copy of Invaders. Things like that. Ones I recall wanting but never owned.
cool console (micro? somewhere in-between this one with the keyboard or was it only games?). I am starting now with the recollection childhood software myself. VERY bad timing when it comes to prices (also: Amiga games and software so that makes it even worse). cheers
No by the time we met mate, I probably had the electron. Given we met in the park when you had your Tamiya Hornet, that means it was probably late 1984 or into 1985 that we met :)

Thanks for sharing your memories mate. That's what it's all about.

I've got a soft spot for the joysticks I have to say.
Ooh, loved that one as a kid. Twas called 'UFO' here iirc.
Ah yeah I think some games have other names in the states :) Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
It sounds like a bbc game, great little asteroids clone, definitely something i would play.
I'm always playing with myself mate😂
Sometimes it's the best way 🤣
Looks fun 👍

Yeah knew about the version with the screen. Didn't know about the latter multicart ones.
Neat.
It's not bad hey,.

wow I thought I got in at a bad time, and prices have risen since I did. i got in in 2018. That said, I think they're slowing down.
Chris I can't remember this G7000🤔🤔

Hey, aren't you the guy who got sacked from TWIR?
🤣🤣🤣
Just being silly. Do miss you over there though.
I'm still there. I've been wearing a Dave disguise. Some people got suspicious when I accidentally said something nice about the Amiga though.
@@005AGIMA 🤣🤣🤣
