Omega's claim to fame is the Speedmaster Professional, but 95% of their back catalogue could be diluting their hero product. Adrian from Bark & Jack thinks Omega needs to make some serious changes.

There's also that elephant in the room that Adrian didn't mention. You can actually go into an Omega dealer and buy the watch you want most of the time.

This backs up his point. There is no demand for their products as it doesn’t feel special. Too many options. I have an explorer and a sub. I have flirted many times with getting a Speedmaster, but there are just too many options and I think, 🤔 maybe next year there will be 15 more options that might be exactly what I’m looking for. If they had a Speedmaster racing, a Speedmaster Moon and one other. The choice is reduced and then actually I might buy one.

Glad to see someone who gets it. Some folks forget that Rolex watches on average sell for double the price of Omega. Utter rubhish. Most people buy a rolex because most people have heard of the brand (because of their huge advertising expense) and associate with being well off (to non watch enthusiasts.)
"Hes got a rolex, he must be loaded/doing well in life etc etc"
People buy an omega because its an amazingly well made time piece with historic relevance and pedigree. Omega has less than 1 10th the advertising budget of rolex, and i would argue that rolex are overpriced to account for this.
Yes, rolex are well made, but they should be by now. Petfecting the same watch for 50 years. Certianly not innovative. Ok, omega isnt either these days, but was back in the day. Lets not forget, rolex are, and always have been tool watches with good marketing.
A seiko grand quartz snowflake is a better watch than rolex in every way, but doesnt have the prestige and reverence that rolex does, and therefore the hefty price tag. People need to get out of the rolex brain washing, and actually buy a good watch. Seriously, + or - 3 mins per day should be a thing of the past, but its normal with a rolex. What a joke.

The problem people are facing with Rolex currently is that it's overpriced on the market(that he also said it on his seamaster video iirc), because of high demand, both from people that's not into watch that only want to buy rolex as the brand, and from watch enthusiast that want to buy rolex as the watch itself. Now i think much more people that are buying rolex are the former, making the stigma that you buy rolex because it's a luxury item, and make the argument that he brought up. And ofc every generalization is wrong 🤷‍♂️.

Whatever scratched the AR on your watch would have also damaged the crystal. Omega has been using double sided AR along with other brands in Swatch group this isn't some new problem.

I really like how pared down and refined the rolex lineup is. It's annoying when you look through a brand catalog and they have 11 dive watches and 8 40mm 3 hand watches with minimal differences, and all of them have something weird about them just to set them apart a little bit. With rolex you have one good dive watch, two GMTs, and the explorer/datejust/daydate offerings, plus a couple oddball things here and there like the skydweller and deepsea. That's it. They don't have a hundred different models coming and going year after year with all different weird bracelets and weird parts that are unique to each model.

    It looks amazing.
I am looking for the right Speedy to buy for some time now and I think I found it.
I‘d like to get exactly this Speedy with this bracelet. Amazing. ❤
Is this a package to get from Omega ?

He is absolutely right. I would delete 95% of their offering too. Maybe even more. It made my experience of choosing a speedmaster just horrible. And the real watch enthusiast really understand this.
Omega offers more speedmaster variation than most of the other brands entire line.
This one hurts as Omega is just fantastic when things are done right.

Yes, but actually no. Rolex's catalogue is meticulously curated, true, but Omega only need to delete only about half of their catalogue.
More importantly, they need to make it more understandable. "This is a diver, this is a chrono, this is sporty, this is dressy." Especially the Seamasters need serious re-catalogging.

Consider most people don't buy watches from the website they will go to the AD who has a smaller selection. You might wanna check Rolex has many variations as well just a better layout of the website. Meaning on Rolex site you aren't looking at 30 variants of Dj at once you have to build it then it only shows that model you've built.

Why do people think Rolex is the only brand guilty of this. Try to walk into Ferrari and buy a highly sought after model, Hermes’ for a burkin, Porsche for a gt car, Chanel for a highly sought after bag. It’s a game they all play to keep you hooked and spending in their stores. Omega don’t do it because as Adrian said they have diluted their products but they have started to learn from the above e.g. moonSwatch release, anniversary releases, snoopy speedmaster etc.

I love my Speedmaster. But I can’t help to feel that Omega’s been trying a bit too hard to become Rolex.
I started to notice this when they tried to rewrite history (“former SAS type with easy smile and expensive watches…Rolex? … Omeega”) and even went as far as issuing wrong colored NATO straps. Then the Globemaster with their fluted bezel a la Datejust. Then the multicolored dials of the Aqua Terra after they saw the crazy success of the OP.
Come on Omega. You’re a great brand with rich history. Be proud of that!
