    Making your own clothes is not always going to be the cheapest route. That's not what the point is though, when you create something, it is of your own. You made that!

    • @kenandrewdaily
      @kenandrewdaily  8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It isn't. It's actually more expensive to make your own clothes lol. But thanks !

    • @lordtj63
      @lordtj63 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thats true, but the beauty of it is, that your honing skills you probably didn't even know you had, your going to be making something that actually 'fits' right, and its going to be something totally individual that 'You' made! So for me, thats worth every stitch :-) Plus you save a fortune on repairs and alterations in the long run.

    • @jerometruitt1452
      @jerometruitt1452 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      For quality compared to what you would get if you bought the same quality in the store its ALWAYS cheaper. The only thing it will cost you is time. You're never gonna spend a grand or more on a jacket you made yourself unless you make it of all the finest leathers and silks, but to buy the same thing in stores is gonna cost you 4 times that.

    Dude! I love this jacket. Coming from someone who's been designing for 11 years I do want to fill u in on a couple things. When you do the rib on the sleeves to keep it clean sew the two sides of the rib knit together first, fold it in half, then attach it to the sleeve. It's pointless to line the entire jacket and still have raw edges, you know? Also if you're going to go the route you did with the lining, use a baste (bigger) stitch so that you won't have those seam lines in the fabric and you can pull that out and keep it clean with regards to stitching lines. Again, more for aesthetic purposes. I've only made one bomber/letterman jacket in my life (for a baby Gerber commercial) so watching this for an adult is super sick!
    Btw RIParadise to your grandma. 🙏🏾

      +Ezequiel Ochoa such hostility towards someone that was giving him little pointers that would make his life easier...and his designs more professional. I've been in the industry for 11 years so I know the ins and outs. Don't try to play internet gangster...no one sent for him or you so don't come for me sweetheart. I actually used bits from his tutorial to make my first bomber so...where you at now?

    This video is awesome. I'm a beginner sewer and I appreciate how you explain step by step what you need to do. A lot of other videos I've watched on sewing tutorials skip certain steps and/or don't explain things that are not obvious to a beginner. I feel a lot more confident of creating a jacket after watching this

    Ken, I got a little teary-eyed at the end. I'm so sorry for your lost. This is the greatest honor to carry on the legacy of our loved ones. I miss my grandma dearly. She sparked my interest in sewing. Her hand-sewing skills was impeccable.
    This is the best sewing tutorial from start to finish. Your pictorials illustrations, voice over, and visual step-by-step are awesome. I love everything about this bomber jacket.
    My condolences to you and your family.
    May your grandma rest in peace.

    You cut the fabric in the wrong way, when you fold the the fabric those little holes and threads should be on the side of your pattern (templates), also you should fold it in where the pattern is inside the fold, for example your fabric is black and has flowers in one side and in the other is white, you should fold it and cut seeing the white part. If you want a nice finish in cuff don't fold it, sew it first and then fold with the already sewed part inside of it. Sorry if there's any grammar mistakes English is not my first language.

      peter lee but then you'd have two bomber jackets exactly like everyone elses 👌

      +peter lee What kind of bomber jackets are we talking about here? I'm not exactly sure how much all this stuff cost in stores but you can get fabric, insulation, and accessories online for way lower than what most brand name jackets would sell for. Price also depends on the type of nylon as there are so many different weights, thicknesses, and levels of waterproofness/breathability that it can get confusing. Look up forums/threads where people make their own outdoor jackets/gear for hiking.

      The fabric wouldnt be really expensive. The sewing machine will be but it's a smart investment if you want to make your own clothes

      Some thrift stores have fabric sections where you can find really cheap fabric

    AYEEE BUT DAT BOMBER JACKET DOE
    its mad sexy. i tried making one without any tutorials and it turned out okay, imma take a seam ripper and update it now. AYE ONE QUESTION DOE. could we sew the lining while putting the pieces together or is it better to do it the way you did?
    also R.I.P GRANNY KAD.

    • @kenandrewdaily

      *****
      AYEE!
      You have to do it my way to prevent seams from showing. That's the only reason why I went this route. Otherwise, if you don't care about seams, you can do it your way. lol

    I want to do this so bad but I can't decide what the sleeve fabric should be and I think I might try to make it by hand. I prefer to be able to do projects by hand rather than machine since I typically am doing crafts in the dead of the night when the family is sleeping.... I loved the video! Thank you!!!!
