    Watching you work on this truck reminds me of my vehicles when I lived in western New York (Rochester area.) I've moved to Arizona, and now the underside of my beat up old 1995 C1500 W/T is clean and rust free, it's really amazing the difference. Of course, I paid $1100 for it (150k miles, but was a work truck,) a lot more than a rusty beat up truck in NY would go for. But there really isn't a single rust spot anywhere on it, other than the roof where all the paint has failed.

      I moved to Phoenix from Albany and picked up a 1999 Suburban this fall. As a fellow NY’er the difference working on vehicles from the desert vs the northeast brings a smile to my face everytime

    I changed my pads on my '96 Suburban and it was a little trickier than my S-10 Blazer. I bent my lug wrench to get the lugs off. I wound up using the Suburban ratchet lug wrench which works superb! Then when I reinstalled the pin bolts, they had to be finagled quite a bit to thread them into the caliper. The pin bolts don't go through like on my S-10. Your tutorial is very informative. I just thought I should give a heads up about my experience. Thanks.

    Very helpful and informative. Good camera work in assuring that the subject of your comment is in frame. Nothing fussy. Straight info.
    My personal bias, I tend to clean EVERYTHING that's in sight, when I do a job like this...but that IS rather anal of me, now isn't it? GREAT job!

    This was very helpful. because before I watched this video I was not sure if I had the right pads I got from AutoZone I did not know that the inside ones were thicker and shorter than the outside ones that are skinny and long, this helped me out tremendously thank you great video.
    PS. I was just about to go back to AutoZone to see if I had the right ones or not there was a young teen that I thought didn't know his stuff but I guess he does . I'm the one who doesn't LOL
    Edit. I meant O'Reilly not AutoZone

    the two bolts you said you dont use a torque wrench but how tight do you put them on like snug then 1/4 turn after that putting a good bit of force on them? i couldn't break or over tighten those could i?

    The caliper bolts should be torqued to 38lbs and the brake lines should be torqued to 33lbs. That is if anyone is interested. All the information is on the Internet if you look it up.

    Break the bleeder port loose and you won't force dirty fluid back into the master cylinder inducing failure.

  • @thedavesofourlives1
    @thedavesofourlives1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why push the bad fluid back into the master cylinder when you could just crack the bleeder on the caliper while you press the piston back in? Water tends to build up in the caliper and cause it to seize. Advice from my father, 30 yrs red seal mechanic.

    DO NOT USE WHEEL BEARING GREASE ON ANY PART OF YOUR BRAKE CALIPERS!!!
    There is a reason why there is brake component grease. It's because its a high temp grease and won't burn or boil out when the brakes get scorching hot. Always use the correct grease for brake jobs. otherwise you can destroy your brakes very quickly.
    Otherwise a good video.
