Lolol I litterally had to quit playing drums to find a real job cause I couldn’t stay at my parents anymore…. Used to tour with a punk band. Drummers really do stay broke

And gave him some positive reinforcement, that teacher needs to open up a little bit, not everybody has to play hand-over-hand, and the whole him saying he was trying to get him to use his right foot thing felt kind of weird to me

I think that's just the experienced pro in him. One of the first things we're taught as drummers is to practice our rudiments slowly because speed will eventually follow later. He was putting it into practice I guess
@@pabben03also it’s much harder to detect error when playing faster. Starting fast Prly ain’t the best way to build muscle memory either.

Great idea:) Great idea! Would be fun to do a game-show twist on this where you can challenge them to take the money (start with $20) or do double-or-nothing for the next, more complex groove. And keep going up to $100 or so..
If anything, i think this video shows that a kick/snare/cymbal setup really squeezes out a drummer's tightness and creativity

As someone who has been playing drums since 1985, every time I throw the Axis Bold As Love album or The Song Remains The Same concert album on the SL-1200, I can honestly say you guitar players are the superior musicians!!!

Absolutely wonderful video. I play drums as a hobby (vocals & rhythm guitar is my main thing), but this video shows how just a kick, snare and hi-hat can make wonderful music.

You don’t teach kids anything when they fail at something and you still reward them. It is one of the primary reasons this country is in the shape it is in today.
I just finished playing the drums. Now I'm taking my phone over to the drums to see if I can play those chops. I see what you did here.
Knowing that I could play 80% of these without issue makes me feel a lot better as an intermediate drummer. However, I would *not* be able to hold these down with a totally consistent tempo with a band, while executing fills *and* comping over other soloing musicians and then syncing back up to the main groove when the song returns to its general structure; that's what separates truly exceptional & talented drummers from the rest of us.
