  • Welcome to my Software Engineering internship at Hearth, a fast-growing Fin-Tech startup in Silicon Valley (gethearth.com). I will take you through a Day in my Life working in person in our San Francisco office here in Silicon Valley.
    Hey! My name is Nelson and I’m a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student at the University of Toronto. I’m also a part of the 8VC Fellowship (8vcfellowship.com), a prestigious tech fellowship in the Bay Area.
    Over the past year, I created Haven, a campus safety app that improves security on campus and reduces sexual assaults (havensafe.co).

    This was a very interesting video for me to watch. I am starting my Computer Engineering a little later in life as I just turned 30 but seeing videos like this definitely get me motivated to do it.

    Did you get your internship directly via the PEY job board or like externally from LinkedIn or smth.

      @@NelsonLeeYT Dude, it was, it motivates me to keep studying, right now as a Developer in a technical institute in my country and further on, hopefully, making my engineering career at U of T or at another state of art technological university 😁🙏🙌

    Hey! Is there a reason you chose to do computer engineering over cs/se if you planned on going for software positions? Great content!

    • @NelsonLeeYT
      @NelsonLeeYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I thought that the skills of an Engineer is more applicable to areas outside just software. I have flirted with the idea of getting an MBA or going into Law at one point. As well, I feel that there is a much closer Engineering community in university compared to CS!

    • @Warun16
      @Warun16 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NelsonLeeYT I see, so you wanted a more versatile degree with a tighter community. Gotcha!

    • @NelsonLeeYT
      @NelsonLeeYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya! And most of the skills to get into a Software job (Leetcode etc) isn’t covered that much in school so you have to self learn that anyway

      MacBook Pro M1 is sufficient, even the Air will be good enough unless you’re doing crazy types of computations!
