Fair question. It’s mostly just that the Eurovision videos started blowing up and I really wanted to utilize the growth as much as possible. It’s hard to find a balance between 2 seperate topics. It’s not the end of ncs videos though, I promise :) Pinned just so more people can see this if you’re curious
This top 10 would look completely different if all acts were performed under the same voting system, for example Fairytale would be top 2 instead of 19 in the actual percentage of points.
There's no sense in this video. The amount of points says nothing, because the number of participating countries differs every year. Some years you couldn't make this list even if you have full 12 points from all countries, because of the low number of overall participants. Other years with a lot of participating countries you could make this list just by getting to top 5.
Makes sense since there have only been 7 contests since the new system but if he had converted them all into the new system then we would’ve seen a different result
Would be useful to know where the songs came in each year as well, over time the number of points has increased so a top song in an earlier year always will be lower in ranking than a lower placed song in more recent years.
Malta 2005, Belgium 2015, United Kingdom 1997, Germany 2010 (tied with Türkiye, Romania, Belgium and Israel), Denmark 2013, Austria 2014, Finland 2006, North Macedonia 2019, Bulgaria 2016, Germany 2018, Sweden 2012, Norway 2009 and Switzerland 2021 were my winners. It's nice to know so many did so well.
This is the old voting system. It was calculated again using the New system and this is when it got 690 pts. This is incredible. The song is incredible
Why can’t second be good enough for him? I don’t understand it. He had a televote friendly song but it wasn’t jury friendly, now compare that to a song that was televote and jury friendly. One got 4th for jury votes and 1st in televotes while the other got 1st in jury votes and 2nd in televotes. Not to mention, the points were separated by 133 in the overall tally of points so, he’s second, and that’s ok. With a party song that the jury normally don’t enjoy seeing, his ranking is pretty high.

It's funny because in terms of actual points of the available maximum this whole list is wrong except for the very first place. An easy example is although 'Beautiful Mess' is ranked 3 her and 'Tattoo" 4, their order should actually reversed because 'Tattoo' had higher points of the available maximum because of less participating countries. This also applies to pretty much every song here that was performed before 2016 before the point system change, for example 'Fairytale' should be rank 2 on this list and not somewhere in the 20's.
I mean that method isnt exactly accurate as well, as there are cases where the jury or televote of a country get disqualified. Along with San Marino only getting a jury vote pre-2016
Absolutely right - "Save Your Kisses For Me" (UK, 1976) got the highest percentage of the available points in the 12 point system but the raw number of points would obviously be much smaller as the contest was smaller back then.
More countries do equal more available points by default regardless of point system used, nevermind all the Televoting points tend to coalesce around a few songs pushing some songs up the list. list It still amuses me that Katrina beat modern songs with 35-42 countries voting with only 25 countries participating in 1997, how weak was Azerbaijan's winner whose total she beats in-comparison? Hard to do. Took 25 years for the BBC to send a higher scoring song too.
This is a pretty pointless video because there is a different number of countries participating every year so the amount of possible points differs from year to year. If you'd get 12 points from every participating country, but there are only 10 countries participating you still have less points (120) than if you only get 3 points from each country, but there are 50 countries participating (150). The amount of points doesn't really tell how successful the song actually was in that years competition.
2017 was crazy with Bulgaria coming in 2nd with a points total that would've won them the competition in every subsequent year except 2022. It also shows how Salvador is above and beyond anyone else.
It still baffles me how Kristian would've won with the same amount of points like any other year after the system change except 2022. Like ANY other year. Jesus Christ what a year it was.
I like the idea of the video but ctually its not ok because you should have taken into account the voting system that changed in 2016.
