Great video as always! I'll be honest, I was surprised to see Runeblood Incantation in the sideboard, that card seems to be the life blood of my Vynnset, or I should really say your Vynnset deck with some very minor tweaks I made. Watching your videos and building the core of this deck and making tweaks has actually lead to Vynnset usurping my beloved Katsu for my local Armory Classic Constructed plays. Still love my Ninjas and Assassins for Blitz, and lean on Brevant and Victor for UPF, but Vynnset is now my CC queen all thanks to these videos.
Thanks! Yeah fair enough. I think it’s because I’ve been focusing on trying to raise the ceiling of the deck by siding in these attack reactions to try and capitalize on mauv on hits. But you’re sacrificing consistency for this play style, which may be the name of the game for Vynnset. You might be right to keep it in the main board. I’m just wearing my tin foil hat in the corner at the moment. I just finished your alter by the way. Should hit the mail this week. Cheers!
Love the video and the insights into Vynnset! In the game against Kayo, I think if you banish Chains and then play it out, You would have stalled out their big turn because they couldn’t have led with Savage Feast. Chains stops almost all of Kayo’s power cards so it should probably be prioritized.
Yeah, I often let greed get the best of me. I have to work on identifying when their big turns are being telegraphed and just focus on getting chains up. Cheers!
Hey! Thanks for the deck tech, always interesting to get different Vynnie perspectives. Some notes, you can't activate Creepers to snuck in the Chains because you need to have blocked already with an attack action and no way a Kayo will attack 1st and only then do a Bloodrush (unless on a very awkward turn where they attack 1st with a CnC GA(?) and then Bloodrush? hehe
Reduce is key against decks with onhits, I don't think I ever get rid of it, especially against Dori.
Pummel in a deck that runs so few blues might be a wasted card as you might hardly, pull it off so you're adding a block 2, I know you can easily use a red and Tunic since RG cards are usually for free, I do like 1 or 2 there, as well as Lunging, I don't know about 3 of each though, feels you could slot in other cards to help with the Guardian/fatigue MU, but tell me if you tested further and how you can take advantage of it as I would be curious to know, I really want to know how the PQ goes for you ;) Cheers!
Yeah agreed. There are rare times where Kayo will attack first, but I agree that most of the time you need to be playing chains out the turn before when you think they are setting up for bloodrush. I’m also off the three pummels already (back to 1). Considering going back to either dread tryptic or spellblade assault for more runechant generation. Which is why reduce has felt awkward of late. We need more pieces that can help us end on chants. Still trying to find the optimal build for my playstyle. Seems like a never ending journey.
Thanks as always for showing vynnset love!
How has it felt running games without Runeblood Incantation? Have you ever felt you weren't able to get Vinny off the ground when you didn't have it in?
I feel pretty helpless without having one on board at any given time, especially when im trying to keep up turn-by-turn pressure
Thanks for watching! Yeah you guys might be right. When the attack react line up with mauv, it feels so good. I guess the one cost has steered me away from incant since we have a lower volume of blues, but it’s a great piece to play out on tunic as well. You’re probably right to keep it in. The other piece I need to test is some number of beseech. It might be what we need now on a lower number of blues.
Btw love the bloodied oval inclusion, it feels great
Thanks for watching! Yeah I like oval to help with a breakpoint throughout the game. 1 extra life is always nice.
In my LGS meta Chains are a must have against Dash, ninjas and brutes
For sure! Feels very powerful when you get the timing right.
Have you experimented with Nebula Blade before? I'm curious to why you decide to not play it!
In theory you can play envelop in darkness + nebulade blade of a blue, which is very good alongside any mauv and gate :)
Yeah I did experiment with Nebula for a long time. I agree that if things line-up it feels quite good. But since we are on fewer blues than before, I think it becomes worst. Also it was very good into dromai, which is no longer an issue. I think having consistent access to flail to turn on the on-hurts and present an awkward 1 damage is better, imo. I would probably look to put scepter back in before nebula.
Been using nebula blade and loving it.
Also revel in runeblood has been good
Will give it another test!
I've tested so many version of the deck now, ones little envelops and more beseech, more blue/ less blues, etc.
The best I've had it running a super greedy aggressive version using sink below instead of sigl.
With the hero, she's good but it's pretty obvious she needs something extra in a support/ list slot.
I think Runeblade has the current smallest card-pool, if I am wrong then it's I think it's wizard, not much between them.
I've played super high roll aggressive matchups, as the events I've done relatively well in have been down to creeper/ revel turns with deathly.
Just got to dodge some super hard matchups such as Bravo/ Azaela.
I never drop runeblood incants unless it's vs Azaela due to carapace and no tunic plays, or racing vs ninja, it bails you out of potential dud hands.
Dorri is easier now (in my experience), as they're on hatches to chew through Kayo, Dawnblade versions just felt like a snowball that never looses momentum with our poor blocks :L
As always, love the insights and content man!
Big up to our vinnie players :D!
Yeah big time agree with what you’re saying here. Thanks for your perspective on incant. I will work on prioritizing it to see how it feels. Sink is for sure a great option, and I might have to go back to it considering the low rolls I’ve had of late. I’ve also decided to find room for three more attacks to try to reduce the likelihood of bricks. Considering dread tryptic or spellblade assault as blue three blocks currently.
Wizard has the smallest, followed by Assassin, then Viserai's card pool specifically, Vynnset's is a little bigger because she gets the Shadow pool as well. But that's total legal cards, doesn't account for what's actually playable
Also I'm actually sort of flipped on my perspective on Dori, I find Dawnblade lists a lot easier to play into than hatchets. In my experience Hatchets Dori tends to play a lot more defensive than Dawnblade, while still out value-ing us on damage, especially if we don't block. It's the Guardian problem of needing to set up bigger turns to go over the top while under pressure. It's definitely not as hard as Guardian, but it presents the same problems imo. But equally, that could be down to the fact that I have a lot of experience playing against Dawnblade whereas I don't have as much experience into the Hatchets matchup as I'd like. I haven't been testing Vynn as much recently as well, because I was actually expecting the rise of defensive Warriors, Guardians, & Azalea to hurt the deck, & also I've been falling back in love with Viserai, I really like his position for this meta.
Interesting take! I don’t have much experience into hatchets Dori yet, but my first impression was that the matchup isn’t too bad. Could definitely be wrong though.
@jaymaillet5150 I have a very good Dori pilot at my locals who's switched to Hatchets recently. It's possible I'm attributing too much of the fact that he's a better player than me into the matchup, but even when I've won, it hasn't felt comfortable or like the matchup was good for me
GGs, thanks for the games!
Thanks for watching!
Blue cards in Vynnset? a disgrace!
And if you play blue cards, where is the hold the line?! With Balance of justice you destroy brute and ninjas!
I know, right. Hold the line is a good call if Zen becomes super popular, which seems likely. Good one to keep in mind
